Challenge Mode / Re: Pacifist Runs of Classic Mega Man games
« on: January 12, 2010, 12:52:53 AM »
To anyone whose knowledgable, I got a question.
I'm looking to do X6 as a pacifist (Not looking forward to it) but I'm having trouble figuring out my path. I know I can get to the gate levels early by taking out High Max. However, there are apparenly necessary parts and or armors that I would need to get.
So, how could I beat X6 with the fewest amount of kills (including Maverick investigators and Nightmares)?

Unfortunately, I was working on the Sheep Man stage when they started broadcasting the Commando Man stage so I missed the first life/half of the stage.
Commando Man's stage also includes branching paths, quicksand, Proto still has his charge and slide (aka plays like in MM9), and the sandstorms can push you and go in either direction.

This footage was taken from Mega Man's 22nd Birthday Celebration last night. These are played by one of the producers of Mega Man 10 (Who has now been dubbed Fail Man).
Sheep Man (w/Mega): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1BdmGvpFYI
Commando Man (w/Proto): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlf6LZirtZg
Unfortunately, the quality is poor because it's taken directly from a webcast. Still, it's better than nothing. Also, here's Trailer footage for the game:

Yea, it woulda been wise to mess around more with the weapons. I'll go ahead and make another video to fix my mistake with Tengu Man. Besides, I played like a COMPLETE idiot against Tengu himself so it'll be good to get my revenge.
If you're looking for another challenge, you can try to beat Airman's stage as a pacifist without using E-tanks. I was able to get it so that I only use 1.... but I couldn't even get that on Camera.
Still, kudos.

Mega Man & Bass Run (As Mega Man): http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=4AE27FEBD1E5D153
I don't have the capability to record Mega Man 8 or 9 yet so I'm looking for something new to work on. I could do a Pacifist Run of X2 and X3 but I'd like to work on some other challenge as well.
I especially like doing challenges that aren't on youtube yet. Anyone have ideas?

Challenge Mode / Pacifist Runs of Classic Mega Man games

In an attempt to do something different, I've worked on some pacifist runs of Mega Man games.
Mega Man 1: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=5B0FA68E4412FBC8
Mega Man 2: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=4FCA1B01F528FBDB
Mega Man 3: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=9A5CA58EC63663AE
(MM3 was my first one and I decided halfway in to switch commentary so try not to complain about it.)
Mega Man 4: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=231F550C44F6FDD6
Mega Man 5: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6B3B23441E6DECF6

Mega Man 7: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=B03E076600094B06

Mega Man X2: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=490CE6F909D6FEB5
Wily Wars: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=707B8B24237C8AC3
The hardest one was Mega Man 5, although Mega Man & Bass is currently giving it a good run. Easiest one was Mega Man 2 or 7. It's really fun to do and makes you think about Mega Man games differently (especially the level design). It also gave me new appreciation for Mega Man 4 as a game (that was was the most entertaining). If anyone has any questions about them or advice for trying similar runs, let me know.
Note: Also, please note that these aren't perfect runs. I'm not the best player in the world and these aren't designed to get the minimal amount of hits. Pacifist Runs are runs where the fewest amount of enemies are killed. Usually this is narrowed to bosses and mini-bosses but there are times exceptions must be made to progress in the game.
