Gonzo:  Thank you so very much.  I've been looking for that name (on and off) for a long time.  Couldn't precisely nail down who it was.

I'm not requesting art.  This is about information.  An artist's name.  I've been looking for this artist's name for years.

My favorite MM artist is whoever drew the PSX manual/official art.

Anyone know this artist's name?  (I'd pay him my life's savings to draw the RMs from 7, 8, R&F, 9 and 10)  (or wish some fans would try & copy his style for fanart)

Blade Man was inspired by an even old fan submission to Nintendo Power from like 1993 or 1995.

Thanks Nebula, that ends any doubt I had as to how Blade Man was inspired.

Nice to see some Green Lantern love on here, Blackest Night has brought GL back into geek vogue.

Besides MM, I love comic books and am a huge GL nerd.

Hopefully Martin Campbell and Hollywood won't f-up the movie.  I will be supremely disappointed and disillusioned as Johns has given Hollywood easy blueprints for GL movies (yet I don't think he was consulted yet).  Someday, I want people to think of GL like they think of Batman, Spider-Man, and Superman.

Overall, I prefer the MM9 RM designs.

Sheep Man- surprised to say that he is my favorite design, I really love his simple design and oddly endearing concept

Commando Man- as I said before, too Search Man-ish for me

Strike Man- my second favorite design, love the sports theme and the design

Blade Man- Sword Man-ish, but I like his design

Nitro Man- too Turbo Man-sh

Chill Man- like his design from what I see

Solar Man- like his design from what I can see

Pump Man- weakest in design from what I can see

As Rockman 7 FC showed, you can pull off the 8-bit look with complicated RM designs.

Pull it off or not, which indeed Rockman 7 FC did, I still prefer the more simple designs.  Call me old fashioned.  For example, I will always prefer the 9 and 10 Robot Masters over the 7 and 8 more complicated RM designs.

Of Xamoel's deviant art RMs, though I'd make some changes to make all of his designs more traditional and simple, I most like Saw Man, Toxic Man, Demolition Man, and Plasma Man.  But he did a good job with all of them.

Not mine, but I like some of these:

Though, truth be told, I like the more simple RM designs of around MM 3-5 the most.  These above are not those kind of RMs designs.

We could have got some updates from the Japanese volume.

MM9 could have been included.

And I was disappointed absolutely nothing from the Mega Man DOS PC games made it in.

Was also disappointed that we only got concept art of the backsides of the MM7 Robot Masters.  What about the front?  Not made?  Why?

Greatest MM collectible ever IMHO, don't get me wrong.  But these US volumes could have been even better.

Dr Wily II:  I really liked Camera Man and Void Man.  Darn, no official style art for them.

I never ever thought I would say this in my wildest dreams, BUT, nostalgia bias aside, I would have to agree that MM9 > 1-6.  I think it beats even 2 and 3.

I've weighed everything (difficulty, design, music, bosses, weapons, story, innovativeness, etc).

Mega Man 1: Time Man
Mega Man 2: Metal Man
Mega Man (DOS): Volt Man
Mega Man 3: Gemini Man
Mega Man 4: Skull Man
Mega Man III (DOS): Shark Man
Mega Man 5: Star Man
Mega Man 6: Blizzard Man
Mega Man 7: Turbo Man
Mega Man 8: Tengu Man
Mega Man 8.5 (MM&B): Burner Man
Mega Man 9: Tornado Man
Overall Favourite: Metal Man

Tough choices, particularly for MM1 and MM9.  Bomb Man almost won MM1.  Concrete Man and Plug Man nearly won MM9.

Before the "reboot," Gauntlet from Mechanical Maniacs graciously shared his "official manual" style art of the MM DOS PC bosses.  They were meticulous and brilliant, and for me are the unofficial official art for those PC bosses.

So now, only Powered Up's Time Man and Oil Man lack "official manual" style art (without the chibi twist).  But, I want to remedy that (though I have no artistic talent)  Gauntlet said that he is not inclined to do these 2 presently.

As help, here is the art we have so far:
