I know who you're talking about with these protos, he's the one I got the X6 Proto from. Nobody would be getting any carts (unless he changed his mind). He just wants the money to dump and release them.
Did he really come down to $3000 to release them all? Originally he had these prices listed:

I talked to him several times and he said specifically it was for the carts, not ROM images (which is what I actually wanted as I sold my NES, SNES, Game Gear along time ago, still have a GBA though) And yep, $3000 for all of them. He also said that it was this much because they were not cheap for him to acquire.

For all of that it came to nearly $8000. If he has come down that much I'd definitely be more interested in working with a fundraiser to get them dumped. Even if we didn't reach a goal of $3000 I'm sure we could get some of them dumped.

I'm all for it.  owob
It would be so easy if each RM/MM fan donated one dollar. Nobody pockets would take a hit that way. One can wish right?  óVó  After all, there are a ton of us.  :P

Wow just for dumping them? Hoarders are ridiculous. When Degamer (Henger83 whatever) brought it up I thought some one was selling proto carts and I would love to participate in buying proto carts.

I'm not to fond of hoarders either.  >_<

When Degamer (Henger83 whatever) brought it up

Hey, I don't want the name change. Change it back to DeGamer please.  :P

It makes sense though. Protoyypes are rare, because people DON'T have them. If they were to be dumped and distributed, their value would plummet and no one would care to own them. It's really a smart move, because the demand will be high enough eventually. Until then hes enjoying it and you aren't so no skin off his ass.

The problem with prototypes/betas is the person who has them. Sometimes they do pay to get them and some times not. And if they are willing to share, it's usually for a price or a trade (This was the reason for me not getting them Rockman World prototype for the GB). Look at the Rockman 8 beta. The person who had it paid nothing for it and I asked him for a copy and looked what happened  8)

I doubt the value would plummet. Just because most people willing to pay those high prices for rare games/protos want the originals. Most people that just use roms or are happy with repros don't think to them selves that they are going to pay $200+ for a proto.

The value would only still be there for collectors wanting originals. And yeah most casual gamers could careless about betas/prototypes. Sometimes people pay money just for bragging. Look at the gold cart of Rockman 4, they're expensive, bot easy to come by and there's only a few of them ever made, but the game content is the same as the final. Why pay so much money for a different casing?

Although I do agree that he can probably care less if we ever end up with it. I hope he's at least made a personal backup for himself since I've heard plenty of stories from hoarders that refused to dump their disc/cart only to lose it or have it ruined/worn out somehow and become totally useless.

Some people don't care if others get it or not. Then there's people who do have such things and don't want anyone to have it despite knowing that many others would want it. I knew a person that had a very rare Resident Evil protoype only to lose it because he didn't make a back up.  -AC

I guess the thing is for me is when I seek out stuff like this I like to share it for all to enjoy and like finding others that do the same.

Same here  :)

From my experience with DreamTR he is very nice and many people say he typically has fair prices. Which is definitely true for his disc based games. The X6 proto was bought for only $50, which I feel if anyone had checked the contents, it probably would have gone for more. I think cartridge games in general tend to be higher due to the fact there is a bit more work into preserving them and then the cost of dumping them is higher compared to a CD that can be popped into any computer.

I've also heard the same. Damn $50 for X6? I would have bought that right away.  ANd yeah, that's the unfortunate part about carts (epecially for older systems) which is why I wanted to buy the ROM images initially instead as I wouldn't have any way to dump them (except for GBA) and then I'd be the only one to have the game and that would make me the hoarder.  :P

As for the thing on hoarders, I used to hate them, but then I changed my mind a few years ago. The bottom line is nobody deserves the data, and technically nobody should have it. If something gets released I say be grateful for that. If a person pays money for (usually) stolen property they can do whatever they want with it.

Well, you're absolutely right about not supposed to be having them, but if I can buy them then why not?
As for hoarders, it really depends on the person. Some people hoard stuff so that it will have more value among collectors, which I can understand. Some other hoard stuff JUST BECAUSE they know other people want it and they don't want those people to have it (I guess it gives them a sense of control) and they like watching people reactions in not being able to obtain what they have. And some hoard for attention. Those last two are  o//////o

Like this?

Ack!....   :O
What have you done to me? *Thunder Carnivals Acid* (the tornado hold won't help you now.) :P
Mah boi, a youtube account name change is what all true Rockman fans strive for.   [eyebrow]

But yeah, xnamkcor is right. If only youtube was that easy  X(

3
Henger83 said the same thing.

Maybe you guys are twins or something.

That IS me  :P  ;)
Oh, and that's how I heard the unused track I mentioned about in the video. That should have told me there were more stages  :-[

I'd actually like to change my youtube name. I've heard it's possible (unofficially) but I'm not sure.  :\ Anyone know of a way?

Anyone want to pitch in to buy any of the following betas?  o-O

NES-
Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3
Mega Man 4
Mega Man 5

SNES-
Mega Man 7
Mega Man Soccer (early, no gameplay)
Rockman X3 (early version, says Sample on the title screen)

Game Gear-
Mega Man

Game Boy
Rockman World (in English with NOA info on title screen)
Mega Man II
Mega Man III
Mega Man V

GBA-
Mega Man Battle Network 2 (debug version)

I believe it's $3000 for all of them (that is a lot) or maybe just pitch in to get the  Rockman X3 sample cart. Doesn't matter to me who gets to keep the cart cuz I'm not going to buy another Super Famicom/Nintendo to play it.  The rom will suffice for me.  XD Too bad there's no detail next to the other betas to note differences.  :(

4

I saw those too. I unfortunately made the mistake as passing them off for random junk. I was changing multiple things at once and thus messed up the graphics and backgrounds to the opening stage and the ice stage. So when I saw those other stages, I thought it was due to the game showing random crap because of my tinkering. I'm glad you pointed it out though as I probably wouldn't have gone back to them. Thanks!  owob It would have been sweet if those stages were more complete.  óVó

I really wonder what that unused tune was supposed to be for. I mean, both Tenguman and Clownman's stages use it.

That's just there as a place holder. Capcom does this a lot as I've seen similar stuff in unfinished builds of their other games.

5
Been a while since I've been here  :(. Lots of crazy stuff going on  X( , but beta wise some goodness has come up.  :O

And of course:  8)

Some stuff of interest... maybe

I have the issue with the ideas in my closet. However, you can find said issue scanned online over at Emuparadise.

Are talking about the same issue where I took that screen shot from or other issues as well? If so, which issues are they? Do you know the volume numbers?

I believe I saw some of the ideas for those in the AVGN Nintendo Power Episode.

That was funny XD. But one thing people don't seem to get is that the original games were made specifically for the Japanese audience which is why certain names/things will look awkward/silly/stupid/weird to us. Not only that, a lot of American gamers seem to forget that there is a world outside of the US :P

Burned the game on a CD-R. Works just fine, but hangs after the "press start screen." Might have just been a bad burn on my part. Will try again tomorrow, but there's nothing wrong with the .iso itself.

I have no idea why that happens :( The rip does work though and since Protodude couldn't cover it unfortunately, I made a brief video about it here:

I first tried recording it with Hypercam, but kept getting issue with the audio/video sync. It's a shame as I had played the whole trial too only to find out I couldn't upload the video like that. Different settings didn't help either.

I'm sure there are other differences somewhere on the disc itself which we could probably bump into by checking the files or through action replay codes but I'll leave that for someone else right now. There are quite a bit of files on the disc and I'd like to go through them but I'm still busy with other projects (PS1 translations). Here is the ISO:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K8PFUAOA

I worked for me using PCSX2 (finally). If anyone gets it fully working on a real PS2 please post about it.  :)

7
I had some free time today so I ripped it and uploaded it. Check your PM.

I'll post a link for everyone else later. Protodude will check for me if the ISO works. Again, I no longer have a PS2 and I've never played played this trial so I don't know what it's like. To make it worse, after I ripped it and tried it with PCSX2 & NeutrinoSX2. The game does not run (no display). I was hoping to play it myself, but I guess not.

No problem.  :)  If anyone has experience decompressing or unencrypting graphics and want to help let me know. I need that screen with Dr. Light so I can change the text, as well as a few small pieces of graphic text.

Actually, one thing that has always annoyed me more than Capcom being rejected of releasing these in the US back then when these games came out, was the prices that the games would go for individually outside of Japan. The first time I saw Rockman 1 CW for the psx was a week after it's release in a game store in downtown NYC. I asked them how much and he said $79.99. I thought it was a mistake, so I asked him to make sure and after he checked he said that the price was correct. I was thinking to myself the game is approximately $30 (back then) and you are selling it for $80, WTF!? That's almost 3 times the price for a game that was just released. I understand they need to import it and then make a profit after that, but damn. These games were NEVER rare. A lot of them were made and they ended up being released multiple times, and yet, I STILL see people selling these versions for ripoff prices.  o//////o

If anything, that money should go to the people who made the games, not to greedy sellers saying that these versions are rare.

I usually buy every version of a game I collect, but to buy the re-release of these games and only the packaging is different is a waste of money and space for my gaming collection. If I knew for a fact, the content was different, I'd buy it. Speaking of which, for anyone that has the re-releases of this game (if one of your discs has these product numbers then those are the one I'm referring to: SLPM-87250 and SLPM-87409) can you please post the names of each file along with the dates of each?

It's tradition. Inafune comes for a signing, get him to sign something for RPM that we can put on the front page.

I see. Then add to the tradition of giving him a duplicate for him to keep so it will be a Perfect Rockman Memory.  ;) Maybe he'll include it in the game some how.  :O Who is the artist for it anyway?

Yeah, for quarter circles and dragon punches it's no big deal. But if there's charge or 360s, I could see some people complaining.

They should make a simpler motion for the rookies, not a one button press for a freakin super, that's a bit much if a noob where to do supers on a vet's ass and then think he is badass at the game.  :|

What I wouldn't give for knowledge of Japanese and a home in California...

You and me both dude! I have some knowledge of Japanese but probably not good enough to work there. Let's all become fluent in Japanese and move to Japan and make a second Capcom division and make the most kick ass Mega Man games every year  :chant:

That pic is counterfeit! I saw you trace it.  XD j/k

That pic was very well drawn.  owob It looks like official artwork. I hope you guys gave him a copy of it. Inafune would most definitely have shown it to the Dash staff in Japan.

Well, don't feel bad. If you have free time on your hands and don't feel like working (house chores, ect...) then do something you enjoy. It will be time well spent instead of being bored.

I try to make some fun time every day now. I don't want to simply live to work like most people end up doing. Then you feel miserable by doing that.

Wow  :o, they must have changed their mind either that, or someone skillfully traced that :)

I have video footage of me attempting to hand my game to him and that's when were were told he only has time to sign one thing because the line was so long they wanna make sure the get everybody. They actually had to any people on Saturday and some of them were told to return the next day as Inafune would not have time to do more signatures for the day.

The MvC2 artwork means absolutely nothing, hell, this isn't the first time people confuse the PSN/XBLA release artwork as some sort of confirmation for this game.

&

You must be stupid if you dont think that's not MVC2 artwork. Same style.

You do know that about each character has 5 artworks.

 [objection!]
Some of the people at Capcom don't even know certain things about their own games. So if a fan can't tell the difference between artwork between games they did not make, it makes them stupid?  o~O I wouldn't go that far dude. ::)

Are the pictures that Theonly I posted in fact from MvC2? The original art work for part 2 has a more cartoon-ish/comic hand drawn style. The artwork I posted (if you see it in person) has a "looks like it was painted" kind of style. The artwork for the PSN & XBL release is a neither of the two. If the style that we posted is indeed from MvC2, all you had to do show us the other characters in MvC2 that were drawn in that same style (Ruby Heart for example) to prove your point. So either it is or it isn't.

Methinks it's just used as a place-holder, until the entire roster is confirmed. After all, MvC3 does use a brand-new art style.

It could be a place holder that they put in the MvC3 booth just to [tornado fang] with people minds, but even if something is confirmed it can still change and be removed AFTER it's been confirmed as the game is not exactly near being finalized. Capcom is infamous for this. Just look at all the beta/alpha stuff for every single resident evil game made. I keep track of these thing because I love seeing beta stuff that's different from the final.

I didn't even know that artwork was there until the Capcom guys told me about it. So I went to the IGN booth at took pictures.

17
I just wanted to update on the status of these. We got the Gamecube NR disc ripped and unfortunately it's just a reviewable copy so it's essentially exactly the same as the final. (So no beta maps or combat system  :() Considering it is pretty much the final game I don't think the staff would like it too much if I were to release that on here. If someone says otherwise I'll upload it and you can examine for yourselves, but I don't believe there are any differences.

DeGamer - I'm really curious what items you have since I didn't think the X7 trial disc was public. I knew a collector bought one a while back, but didn't release anything. Anything you're able to provide and/or release would be great!

Actually, I ended up buying this X7 trial disc years after I had sold my Japanese PS2 (I never had the US system). So believe it or not I have not even played it yet  :o Because of that, at one point I forgot I had it. What makes it worse is the store I bought it from had tons of trials discs for many systems. I bought about thirty-something trials disc from for different systems (Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, and Gamecube) so that made it hard for me to remember what I had just bought. RMX7 and the Rockman Dash were the only MM related trial discs. I'll rip it and upload it I have no problem with that. Just give me a place to put the upload too, unless you want it split into different RAR files on Megaupload or something. Here's some temp pics. I'll take better shots tomorrow and edit this post with them.

As for that Gamecube NR disc, do you know the date for it? Could you upload it anyway? I'd like to compare some files from the finalized disc to that version, because even the finalized MM Anniversary Collection disc has unsed/disabled content.

That EGM that Rodrigo Shin posted pics from X3 is not in my closet so I don't have it anymore  :( However, I did find three magazines that each have one Mega Man game (X1, X2, MM7) before they were released. I'll have to look at each pic closely (lots of pics here) to see if they contain differences from the finals. I did find this pic while browsing my old mags, which I thought some may want to see:

EDIT: I posted better pictures of the X7 trial and added a pic of the disc.

Funny, I could ask you the same question. What did he sign for you? Are you sure that was on Sunday? I tried handing him the Misadventures of Tron Boone (a sealed copy) and I was near the beginning of the line and they told us that he was only signing one thing (which was the poster of your choice between MM Universe or Legends 3) so that everyone could get a chance. I managed to get both of them signed anyway.

On Saturday he was signing anything. He even did some sketches of classic Mega Man for people. And I know because the whole time he was doing signatures, I was on the PS3 kiosk playing MM Universe which was less than two feet away from his desk.

Just a fair warning to all RPMers attending this event tomorrow. My advice would to be there early, like maybe 1-1.5 hours early. The room that the World of Capcom event is being held in is not the biggest of rooms (big, but not super big), and like the MVC3 event (held in the same room), it will fill up fast.

That line was massive today!  :O And today he was only signing posters.  :( He was there yesterday as a surprise and was signing other things. If I knew ahead of time I would have brought some games for him to sign yesterday  X(
I did get both a Legends 3 and MMU poster signed so...  owob

Dooooohh. I most likely could have made it there were it not for my classes that day.

At least 80 more people could have been there too. Not to mention play MMU.

EDIT:
Oh here something I forgot to post since Friday at the NYCC:

Out of all of them the ones with the best detail were Roll and Blues.

That was an awesome video, though I wish the Modok player did more moves with him.

Here's the other side of the wall I was talking about. Though this was the least amount of people I could get this shot with:

Out of all the games, at the NYCC, MvC3 was the one I wanted to play and only got to play it once. The lines (yes lines, not a line) are too much and waiting around like that I felt was a waste of time.

My past few days have been too freaking awesome  0v0 It's a great break from my usual routine, which is usually just work and come home. I wish it was like this more often. I've been with some of the folks at Capcom (all cool guys except for one who has a short temper) and I've been playing tons of games especially yesterday and today at the NY Comic Con.

There were tons of booths with tons of cool stuff practically everywhere. Lots of hots babes everywhere too  0v0, I took my picture with some of them, including with a Cammy and Chun Li cosplayers for IGN  8). There were so many souvenirs it's not funny. Enough to drive many collectors broke! Marvel was the only booth I know of to give somewhat expensive items away for free to random people. This too was funny and the Marvel rep practically controls the fan like puppets by telling them what to do to get the item.

I played Dead Rising 2, Ghost Trick, Resident Evil 5 Gold (PS3 move), Marvel vs Capcom 3, and Mega Man Universe (both XBox 360 & PS3 versions). I must have played MMU today for about 2 hours straight as I had the PS3 booth to myself for that time period and every now and then someone came to the Xbox 360 booth and played MMU. This gave me a chance to play as each character and beat the 3 playable stages. I turned up the game's volume to full blast. The music is stuck in my head now.  *o* Some people were even dancing to it.  8D After a while many MM fans came to try it out and we chatted to the point where MANY thought I worked for Capcom because every question the had I knew the answer to and I hung around there the most (Damn it Capcom give me the job, people loved me there  :) ).

Inafune was right next to me (not even 2 feet away) doing signatures but I didn't get one today because I didn't want to leave the MMU booth since no one else was playing it  XD They were too busy getting on line to get his signature. One of them was dressed with a giant Servbot head and took a picture with him. Inafune couldn't hold his laughter. That was priceless.  XD

I went over to Nintendo's booth and played Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii, which looks fantastic and plays just as well. The 2 player co-op is very nice! I played with some people and we had fun.  owob

I met the producer of MvC3 and took a pic with him. Great man and very down to Earth. The Marvel booth was not to far. But the crowd there was too much. Stan Lee was there today. I would to have like to meet him, but the crowd went nuts when the saw him and ran like an angry mob over there, so I said forget it.

I'm going again tomorrow but probably just to get a signature and picture with Inafune. He gives you either a MMU or Legends 3 poster.

If any of you were there you would not want to leave, despite being tired and hungry  XD

Heey, you were there too. I took the same pictures up close. Strider was on the other side of the same wall but I couldn't get shot because too many people were in the way  :P

More than likely all the MvC2 characters (except the made up ones for that game) will return so I'm not surprised it's classic Mega Man.

I got farther than everyone on that level. I was 3 blocks away from the doors when a random drill came from the sky and killed me.

I saw that.  X( Man, I thought you had it too because you were doing well. I wanted to see if there were any bosses on that trial disc. I was hoping somebody made it to the end as that is the only level I didn't get to play.  :P

That sounds believeable. XD

Speaking of deaths, that hard demo level was sadistic as hell.

Got to hand it to Capcom. The stages look simple. But because of the high accuracy needed in certain parts, it makes it much harder than it should be. Also, the collision detection for the moving platforms is definitely off. I saw multiple players fall right through it (even on the very center of it) when trying to land on it . Many players died because of it.  :(

24
Well I hope my tweeting was okay today! Heh, it's my first time!

Gotta say though, the remixed MM2 themes were nice.

Yeah it's good, and I'd say right on point with what happened. owob

Those remixes were great indeed. A mini soundtrack hand out would have been uber sweet and I'd even pay for it. I'd wish they put that demo of the game somewhere else or as a downloadable preview or something to gamers to try. I'm sure we could have beaten all those levels if we had more time. Especially the one with the endless spikes (or so it seems)

Let me ask you, how were the controls in your opinion, mainly moving the characters? It felt awkward for me. The shooting and jumping seem on point when you press the buttons, but the characters felt very stiff when trying to move them. That annoyed me because I've been playing nothing but the classics before I even knew of this event and I know I should have done better.  I couldn't make that jump to the boss door for the life of me. It practically felt blocked off (stupid low ceiling) and having Quickman's speed made it worse no matter how I positioned him to make the jump. What do you think?

Well, looks like something happened with the cookies, I deleted them, hit F5, and BAM,  everything's there now.

If even after all that, it would be so wrong if everyone could see it except you  XD

I couldn't make it today because I'm getting ready for NYAF/NYCC this weekend. I'll get all my MMU needs there, and more.

You can do that too but that will only be one hour, supposedly anyway.

Oh, I thought this was about Comicon.

I still couldnt go though. I had class.

Oh...

I'll be wearing my MM10 shirt on Sunday, and all of RPM should know my sexcellent face!  XD

Oh yeah, Inafune might be signing stuff so make sure to bring something for him to sign.

Where you the guy wearing the MM9 shirt today?
I would recommend bringing something MM related that you think no one else would bring in case Inafune is doing signatures.

Well, I'm back home. The event was interesting and somewhat informative. I though more people would have attended (the person who gave me my ticket told me there were 180 seats and I'd say close to 80 of those remained empty.) I recorded most of it (until my sd card ran out of memory). I also recorded MMU gameplay footage of the other playing (I'm sure other people got footage of me playing it buy I don't have that). The trial disc they had there was the PS3 version on a PS3 Test system (it doesn't quite look like a consumer PS3). There is no rolling demo on the disc as the game was on the title screen for about 10 minutes and nothing happened until someone was finally handed the controller and pressed start. I would say about twenty something people got to try out MMU.  Everyone else was  playing the other games (Tatsunoko vs Capcom , ect...)

I must say that the build of MMU that we had a chance to play the controls are somewhat difficult. Either or we were handed a worn PS3 controller. Some of the areas in the stages look like they are purposely blocked off. I had reach a shutter with the Wily logo above it and getting to it was pretty damn hard or impossible. No one that played was able to reach it. I thought I had it when playing as the MegaMan/MetalMan/QuickMan character but no dice.
There were 3 stages playable. One heavily based on Air Man, and the other two mostly Crash Man and a bit of Wood Man here and there, but Crash Man more than anything.

The remixes to the songs were sweet.  8)  I would have recorded that alone but all the talking would not have made that a good idea.

Some souvenirs were given out. I received a Monster Hunter 3 trial disc for the Wii. I wanted that MMU TGS disc so bad  0v0 but of course that wasn't being given out as the game is still W.I.P..

Our play time was cut short too which sucks because they had to go. (Nooo!)

Capcom will be at the NYCC but showing off different games on each day. I asked one of the Capcom guys whether or not MMU will be playable there besides Sunday, and he said it may be as they are planning some surprises but he can't say for sure.
