This is a sad day for Nintendo fans everywhere. (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2015/150713e.pdf)
Damn, and he seemed fine earlier this year despite the issues with his Bile Duct. Didn't think that would do him in. :'(
-
I mean, this man helped shape a lot of our childhoods into happier and more fun ones. This is just so sad. Only 55 years old. :'(
-
... Well, this made me incredibly depressed.
I wasn't even aware of his medical issues. RIP you amazing man.
-
Dammit why do great dudes die young. ;O;
-
I just heard about this too... Man this sucks. A goal of mine was being able to see him in person again as a better developer...
-
I'm still in shock. Christ Almighty.
Rest in peace, sir.
-
Sad to think that his last public appearance was E3 2015.
RIP
-
This is most unfortunate. :'(

Iwata gave us this song as well as many others.
-
It's so depressing to see this wonderful person pass away so soon. My heart is in pieces right now. ;O;
-
rip

I'm still not registering... I keep on thinking it's misinformation or a rumor, but it's not. :'(
He was a very funny and kind man and had respect for him taking a pay cut than fire his employees and he did had great ideas for gaming as well. I will miss him.
RIP you radical dude. ;O;
PS: I know Reggie and the others will continue on his legacy with Nintendo and do him justice by making the Nintendo Direct as fun as he did if not better.

Just found this really beautiful remix of Grape Garden. Sigh. :'(
-
Along with Sakurai and Miyamoto, Iwata practically made Nintendo what it is today. We've lost a great man.

This was nice.

... Goddarnit. I'm stiil in shock at this news. ;O;
May you rest in peace, oh great man. :'(

This was nice.
This made me laugh and got me teary eyed.
*sniff*
I'm going to miss him. I wonder if there will ever be another person like him in the world to step up and help Nintendo out.

Today was hard to deal with, what with all the fanart. Shigesato Itoi's comment really got me though:
When I’m parting with a friend, regardless of the circumstances, I find it best to just say, “See you later.” We’ll meet again. After all, we’re friends.
That’s right—nothing unusual about it. I’ll see you later.
You went on a trip far, far away, even though it was planned for many years from now. You wore your best outfit and said “Sorry for the short notice,” though you didn’t say it out loud.
You always put yourself last, after you’d finished helping everyone else. You were so generous as a friend that this trip might be your very first selfish act.
I still can’t grasp what’s happened. It feels like I could still get a light-hearted e-mail asking me out to lunch at any moment—after you’ve made sure lunch wouldn’t disrupt my schedule, of course.
You can invite me out whenever you want. I’ll invite you, too.
So for now, let’s plan on meeting again. You can call me up whenever you like, and I’ll give you a call, too. I still have a lot to talk to you about, and if I come up with any particularly good ideas, I’ll let you know.
So let’s meet again.
No–I suppose we’re already meeting. Right here, right now.

Iwata's going to be dearly missed, for sure. I knew he had some health issues, but never imagined it'd come to this so soon/sudden.

Yeah I read that. Very touching.
-
I think there was even a video with his words in a Earthbound/Mother 3 dialog box I saw on facebook.

And once again my feels are kicked into overdrive. I started tearing up at that Link figure. :'(

If they made a memorial Iwata Amiibo, I'd buy 5.
-
People have made a petition to have Nintendo make an Iwata Amiibo and put in a cameo in the next Zelda game.
-
I could see the proceeds from a memorial amiibo going towards researching and combating the illness that Mr. Iwata succumbed to. Even if Nintendo doesn't go down that route, though, I would welcome a Zelda cameo (and/or a Smash trophy in the next update).

I'd sign that.
