Title: Combat Core: High-Powered 4-Player Arena Fighter! Kickstarter FUNDED!

So yet another kickstarter, but this time it's not from some developer who left some company and wants to revive a certain series for once.  Kind of.  It's an indie developer hoping to make a game like Power Stone and Custom Robo for Steam, Xbox One and the Wii U.  But mostly Power Stone.

The game has 8 characters but you can make your own characters with the character creation and for some reason it's going to have Oculus support if this thing gets funded.  Yeah I really don't get that either.  They just need $30,000 to make it happen and the Kickstarter just started yesterday.  Also Kirbopher is involved if anyone really cares, but Takahata101 and one of the dudes from Death Battle is voicing 2 of the characters.  Either way I think the game looks interesting.

The only thing that kind of bugs me is Skatie's voice and lines.

Can a mod merge this or whatever?

Because Kickstarters wait for no man?  I don't know, I'm just kind of hoping to see a video with the other characters in action, I'm mildly curious about Misuto.  Though Jondo looks pretty interesting too, along with Skatie despite my gripes with her voice.

This looks pretty interesting, but the whole "No PS4" thing makes me a sad panda....

Yeah that really is a shame, but maybe it was just too expensive.

However, I imagine this thing is going to have a hard time getting funded in the first place unless Takahata does some advertising on Youtube since I would think TeamFourStar probably has a bigger fanbase than Kirbopher.  Really something like this needs as much exposure as possible.

Yeah, I hope this doesn't up like RetroBlazer and not meet it's main funding goal from the lack of traffic. What a shame though for RetroBlazer, futuristic-styled PSX/Saturn Powerslave with Metroid and RPG elements sounds like something that's up my alley, but now the devs are probably are going to be in for some hard times.

Don't forget the K.O.L.M 3 and 3D remakes of K.O.L.M 1 and 2 kickstarter.  And that one was just asking for $25,000 and didn't even get $10,000.

This game has some interesting points. I hope that they get the support needed.

At the pace it's going it might barely reach the $30,000 minimum but it'll be pretty bare bones and have no console release.  But I guess those are the hoops a mostly unknown indie developer, unlike someone who left a huge company and decided to reincarnate a series under a different name, has to go through, and even the bare minimum would be a huge victory for them.

For those interested there's a ThunderClap campaign going on and they need 100 people before June 5th.  So far there's over 50 people on it.  I'm not too familiar with ThunderClap but I think it has something to do with getting the word out on things.

Well there's 5 days left and they finally got to $20,000 only time will tell if they can get the momentum to get to at least 30,000.  Also they made new models for Bruiser, Skatie and Pugi.....and honestly Skatie and Pugi's old models looked better.  It's both their face and hair that bugs me the most, especially Skatie's face.

Skatie's new face texture almost looks like a Mii compared to her old one, which at least looked more like her character artwork, and I'm not too fond of the red/yellow color scheme and the lightning design. Pugi's new character model got some better details but face and hair feels off.

Admittedly Skatie's old face was shaped weird too.

Well there's 7 hours left and it's $5,000 short.  I don't have hopes of it making it unfortunately.

And thank goodness I was wrong because it has finally been funded with 100 mins to spare.

I find it kind of funny that two days ago I bought A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda on Steam and now Ares is going to be a guest fighter in Combat Core.

And at least even though it's not going to have the 4 extra characters since it's not going to reach that stretch goal at least we have 3 extra fighters anyway.  Ah well there's always DLC later down the line.

Micah just posted an update on Combat Core's Kickstarter page, which explained why didn't the game came out earlier this yet to due troubles that probably rose during development, but he has been working on improving the game during the missed release window and a playable build will be out on Steam Early Access on August 18th. Here's what you can expect from the Early Access release:

- Complete original 8 character roster (and boss character!)
- 8 cores (supers)
- 5 weapons
- 5 stages
- Custom character editor
- Arcade mode with 3 difficulty settings
- Online multiplayer (2-4 player Free-for-all only)
- Local multiplayer (Free-for-all or Team Battle)
- In-game "How to Play" guide
- VR support for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive (OpenVR)

The Early Access release will be priced at $15.99 with a 10% launch discount, although price for the final product hasn't been announced yet. Some of the backer rewards can't be fulfilled yet until the game is complete, however what can be fulfilled now are the wallpaper art, name in credits (Alpha Core-tier and higher), the archive of the alpha build of the game (Super Alpha Core-tier and higher), and random generator names given to custom characters (ditto). Micha will also be getting in touch with Custom Core backers for their custom characters; the art/models of these characters won't be available at launch but there are plans to add them in later updates. He also wanted to express thanks to an UDON artist, Brendon "Endshark" Tapper, who worked on the new Street Fighter V comic and also helped with designing a boss character teased in the Early Access trailer, as well as Kira Buckland and Alan Lee for also helping provide the voices of the custom characters.
