Title: The Food Topic
Post by: Joseph Collins on September 20, 2012, 05:10:20 AM
Not to be confused with the "Fast Food (http://forum.rockmanpm.com/index.php?topic=928.0)" topic or the "Kraft Easy Mac (http://forum.rockmanpm.com/index.php?topic=6662.0)" topic.

So...  Food.  All kinds of food.  Fast food, slow food, moderately-paced food that makes you honk your horn in the middle of the freeway because it's not quite going the same speed as all the other food...  Good food, bad food, acceptable food...  Food!  Food is a wonderful thing.  And that's why I decided to open this topic.  That, and I didn't think my eating habits belonged in the "What Are You Thinking?" topic since it's neither a thought (per se) nor intended to be a game.

So!  To start the topic, every once in a while, I just gotta have an omelet.  And so, me and my microwave omelet maker (http://www.dollarstorewholesaleitems.com/product.asp?P_ID=14002) made one.  Here's what I put in it:

Pre-cooking (all ingredients shaken vigorously in a mixing container)
- Two jumbo eggs
- A shot of whole milk
- Chili powder
- Wasabi powder
- Garlic salt

Post-cooking cycle
- Sliced deli pepperoni
- Sliced Swiss cheese

Post-cheese-melting heating cycle
- Salt
- Pepper

I have to say, this was a smelly omelet, but a damn fine one.  It was quite good.  It had kind of a smooth flavor despite all the volatile ingredients.  Heh heh.

It sounds delicious.

Right now, I'm eating ice cream.  Peanut Butter Jumble, to be precise.  I have a tub of candy corn and a tub of candy pumpkins in my cupboard, but I'm not touching them.  Nor am I touching the delicious chocolate Dark Side cookie that's in the same cupboard.  Well, not unless I do a whole bunch of exercise afterward to work off the fattening deliciousness.

Schnitzel is my life's meaning.

I don't need anything else.

You're lucky I still have ice cream left. :P

Let me go clear off the couch so you'll have a place to stay...

I shall share some of my favorite recipes when I wake up.

Food rocks. Also, Chopped is one of the greatest shows ever.

You know that in Bizarre Foods, Andrew Zimmern chickened out on eating a durian.  I have one thing to say about that.

Pussy.

I've eaten a durian.  I bought one at an Asian grocer, cut that thing up (by an open window, with the fan running) and ate the delicious flesh inside.  It tasted pretty darn good for something that smelled of damp, moldy gym socks.

Oh?  Going by that, I'd probably like it.  I've eaten kim chi before and quite enjoyed it, despite its really strong aroma.  I don't quite remember the flavor since it was years ago, but I know it was really good!

On the topic of exotic fruits, lychees are pretty nice too

As for omelets I eat them either sweet (with loads of sugar) or spicy, with black pepper, curry powder, and mushrooms. I also add sparkling mineral water, it makes the omelet very fluffy.
Today, for dinner I had rice with red pepper, cayenne pepper, and curry powder. Basically, the hotter the better.

... I'm going to have to try spicy-sweet omelets.  That sounds really delicious.
And I love cramming all sorts of crazy spices into my rice!  Rice by itself is pretty delicious, but flavoed rice is just om nom nom...   *o*

On an unrelated topic, I am currently sipping machine-made hot chocolate.  I don't know what's in it beside "hot" and "chocolate," but it's rich, creamy, and damn good on a cold day like today.

For the fall season I make Pumpkin Spice Whoopie Pies with cream cheese icing for filling. Addictively delicious.

Ooooo... You have to mail me a box of them!

As for me... I gave in to temptation and got some chocolate lava crunch cakes from Domino's.

I have this desire to make my own Perogy Pizza with all the fixings. Potatoes, sour cream, heapings Cheddar and Mozzarella, some green onions, and maybe a little bacon. I even found this cornmeal pizza dough I want to try out.

Also... for some odd reason I had this idea for a Thanksgiving pizza for a while. Put on some ingredients like leftover turkey (though methinks chicken would suffice), potatoes, and a cranberry BBQ dipping sauce.

I might just do that, Quickie. My family will eat them, but they don't tear into them like they do with m&m cookies. I just find that making them with the pumpkin spice for the fall is seasonably appropriate and I enjoy baking anyway. >> I should go to Wal-Mart after work and get the ingredients tomorrow.

For some reason, I'm discussing insect cuisine on Star Wars Fanon.

Hey, they're food!

Have you ever been to The Rainforest Cafe? You can get these like chimichanga things full of ants, oh man it's so good.

Haven't been to one, as I doubt I'll be able to find one within reasonable travel distance.  However, a local candy store does sell chocolate-covered ants.

I hear that they're a good source of protein. Although I never tried bugs... I don't think I can muster the courage too.

I had a cinnamon sugar pretzel at work this evening. Was delicious. X3

Where do you live, Quickie? There was one back where I lived in PA, and they're pretty common, for being as niche as they are.

Rainforest CafĂ©: You're not paying for the food.  You're paying for the animatronics.  :3

I live in Gettysburg.  If there's one in Harrisburg or York, I may see if I can persuade a friend to take me there.

Bah!  Guess I won't be going there any time soon...

I'll just have to cook my own bugs. :P

Yea, I realized I must've been to the one in Atlantic City. And AC would not be my beach of choice in Jersey anyway.

I've been to Atlantic City twice, and that's only because a local bus company does group trips there for about $25.  I intend to go again, for no real reason other than that it's a cheap trip and I can play some nickel slots.  And walk the beach in cold weather, when no one will be on it.

Well, make sure to eat some deep-fried ants. And bathing suit pictures

If it's a cold day on a cold beach with gray sand (yaaaay New Jersey 8D), then I won't be wearing a bathing suit.  I'll be wearing warm clothing.

As for the ants... Oh man, they sound delicious.

Back when Brood X emerged, people were capturing cicadas and freezing them in bulk so that they could eat them later.  In Pennsylvania.

I really do love Man V. Food.

Now, a Stove Top Mac & Cheese recipe. (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/stove-top-mac-n-cheese-recipe/index.html) I've tried it and it's damn delicious!

I just had a really simple concoction for lunch.  Basically, I cooked a can of regular ol' corned beef hash in a frying pan and dumped a couple eggs on top of it.  I ended up eating half the pan (and coincidentally, one egg) and left the other half for whomever wants it.

Seriously debating going back upstairs and eating the rest, actually...  There was absolutely zero interest in it from the one person who was awake up there.  *doesn't feel slighted at all, nope, nope*

Edit: He changed his mind.  Awesome!  :D  Damn, there goes dinner, lulz.

I didn't know it was possible to eat an individual egg.

Do you eat hardboiled eggs at all?  Those are individual eggs.  Unless you somehow get an egg with a mutant twin embryo.  Then it's terrifyingly delicious.  :D
