While we don't play Street Fighter for the story, how much retconning was in the series?
-
Birdie was white in SF1, but then became black in SFAlpha1
Of course, one can say that he got something similar to what happened w/ Michael Jackson, but uh...that's a subject i'd rather see play out in Gamefaqs more than here...

Gouken is pretty much a walking retcon in SF4.

That's quite a...long term sickness.

Street Fighter Retcon actually sounds like a kickass game in which SF characters decide who will stay in the series and who gets retcon'd into oblivion.

Is it wierd that this was more or less what I was thinking when I read the title?

So other retcons I can think ios the whole Sagat vs. Ryu thing, according Alpha Ryu beat Sagat because he manifested the Satsui no Hadou whereas in Street Fighter he just beat Sagat with Shoryuken. Where did that Dan guy come from? How did Gouken survive his second encounter with Akuma?

All I know is that Dan is just a mock-up character for the Street Fighter series.

Actually, he was designed more as a "Take That!" to SNK and their Art of Fighting series. One of the original designers for Ryu and Ken eventually left Capcom and joined the SNK bandwagon, where he went on to design Ryo and Robert (who allegedly, were closer to what he wanted Ryu and Ken to be all along, any way).
Of course, Capcom didn't take all that lying down. Dan started appearing in art (usually after being beat up by Sagat), before finally making an appearance in SFA1. Despite his intent to be a joke character, he actually ended up being one of the BEST characters in that game. And so, Capcom had to actively put out an effort to make him a butt monkey ever since. 8D
