The only thing I don't like about it is how odd Rambi looks.
In fact, I miss the whole Rareware style with no Teeth. But that has nothing to do with the game.

[tornado fang] you guys, I actually LIKED Rattly, Because Jumping High and being able to jump on almost ANYTHING is fun.

I think it was purple squawks. He was ok, i didn't like the limited controls of a pallete swap though.
Winky was Awesome.
Ellie Sucks, Rambi should've been in 3. (They would find a way around the water gimmick.)
And Squitter, other than not being able to jump on enemies, was the MOST versatile character in the DKC Series.

Only animal buddy in all 3 DKC games (and DK64 too!)
I don't count Squawks because in DKC1 he was just the lampholder and in DK64 he was a messenger.

Sadly Enguarde loses the valued title of most DKC Series Animal Buddy Appearances. Thats now tied with Rambi.

I heard the NO UNDERWATER LEVELS thing was decided upon by Retro because they were too slow. I think it was in the Iwata Asks segment.
As for the No Playable Diddy (except for 2P)... I hadn't heard this before.

I'm understandably skeptical about the "No Kremlings" bit (even though I don't mind the new tiki villains :D). Usually, when established series villains get replaced by someone new, they unexpectedly show up at the end (isn't that right, Dr. Wily? [eyebrow]).
If that sort of situation actually doesn't happen, I will be pleasantly surprised. If it does, then my assumption will be correct! Either way, it'll be a treat for me. ~w~
After all, I'm being grateful that we finally are getting a new DKC game, so I won't let some minor details bother me too much.

See Prankster Comets, Mario Galaxy games. There is a challenge where you only have one hit.
And the original games were pretty much like that.
Also, you have two hits, if you've paid ANY attention to the HUD that clearly shows 2 hearts.

Which means the levels have an excuse to be more difficult now! I recently replayed DKC3 (After repurchasing it on the VC, because I lost the SNES copy.) and other than one or two levels (and Barbos) I had NO trouble beating the game.

I've said it countless times off site, but prior to Mario 64, this is what I expected plaformers to be like in the future. I'm [tornado fang]ing irritated with Startropics 1 trying to get through the 2nd cave on Chapter 3, mainly because I keep running out of lives (and health) because of those goddamn Turkey Skull things. Doesn't help that I only get 3 hearts back when I die.

That was definitely a trying time for a younger me, but trust me, you might wanna get ready for some of the later stuff. Chapter 6 will [tornado fang] your [parasitic bomb] up and make you like it. XD

Argh, the more I hear about this game, the more I'm haunted by the fact that we had the cartridge and the letter, but no NES. Ah well, when my bro gets his Wii points card, I'll just VC it.

So, how many times has anyone died on any specific stages lately?
So far, ...around worlds 4-7, it's normal for me to use around 6-8 balloons, whereas I know I used around 90+ in total. on 4-K, 5-K and now, 6-K.
Man, I [tornado fang]ing suck balls.

Lou & I had a chance to play this yesterday. It's seriously everything I could ever hope for in a new DKC game, and much more. DKC truly has returned.

One of my favorite favorite things about the game is when you get to the Continue screen, and Donkey Kong just bangs his fists angrily into the ground with a quick yell. I find that so funny.

Yeah I do the same thing...although those K levels sure can be, "lol we [tornado fang]'d you, son." on those puzzle piece locations (save for 8-K). It's still rewarding either way.

I've only played through the first jungle level so far and I agree. It stands right next to Super Mario Galaxy 2 for quality.
