Post by: Trask on November 19, 2008, 03:28:07 AM
I don't know how old this is, but I found it through an update on my Facebook account under Sonic the Hedgehog.

Personally, if all I had was a 360 or a PS3, I would be excited about getting the Shining Force series, Streets of Rage 1-3, the Vectorman series, Comix Zone, and the original Phantasy Star series on one disc.  Plus, hi-def for the old 2D graphics.  What do you guys think?

I think it's a huge list, even if it has Sonic plastered on it. But, if it's worth playing a compiled game collection than playing today's games, then meh.  ::)

Are you serious!? No Knuckles' Chaotix!?! :O

That's the only old Sonic game I want to return to the Nex Gen systems.
Oh well, there's the other Sonic games. :'(

Well, we can easily talk this over in IM, since Knux Chaotix was a nearly-unheard of in the Genisis Period, since this game was probably known to Sonic fans. (Well, that's what's after the SNES period, but whatever)

Knuckles Chaotix really isn't a Genesis game. It's a 32X game. There's is a difference. I'd rather have Sonic CD, anyway.

don't we have all these games on other collections already? and what's so great about hi def sprites? doesn't that only make them worse?

That looks like a pretty good collection of games, I actually recognized more than 75% of them.

Hopefully Gunstar Heroes is added, otherwise I say neigh. I've already got the Sonic collections and unlocked all the "extra games" (Vectorman 1&2, Ristar, Comix Zone, The Ooze, etc.), Sega, and all the other games on this collection don't interest me.  -_-

SOLD.

Hopefully, the final product will look something like this. (http://www.seganerds.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/s2hd.jpg)

Oh, you're going to be grossly underwhelmed then.

See, when Sega says "HD", they don't mean they're going to touch up the sprites. No, they mean they're going to put a fugly-looking filter on the games and call it a day.

OH yeah, this is the one that has that ugly "clay looking" filter that has a lot of people throwing up with their eyes. It's sad though, for the amount of good games on this disc you'd think it'd have some fancy effect or two to not make them look like they came fresh out of an emulator.

but its in 720p!!!!!!!11111!!1one

Heh... I'm half-tempted, 'cause that's a hell of a lot of games for 30 bucks.

But then... that's a hell of a lot of games I'm not particularly interested in for thirty bucks, too.

I really just think this is for people that didn't get it on the last generation consoles, otherwise known as making a quick buck.  Granted, you only had to pay $19.99 for the PS2/PSP Sega compilations versus the "new and improved" $29.99 compilations.  I'll stick with Virtual Console or go out and buy the Sega Classic Series on PS2.
