Title: Request [parasitic bomb] Here: The Thread
Post by: Rin on December 19, 2009, 01:02:51 PM
So I noticed, that often people of various forums(including this one) request various things. Be it just simple programs, various non-rockman related games (FREEWARE of course... cough... *wink wink*) or other jazz.

I'm making this thread here, and taking it up to the extreme by making it a thread for all people to request stuffs.

(If there's already a thread like this, then I simply did not found it. I looked, believe me.)

Okay, so I'm in need of(MOAR LIKE: I want them) some character voice clips from KoF 2002-2003. I tired extracting them from arcade roms with certain utility, but it let me only get to the music. I tried looking for a site... nothing, zero, null.

Anyone has them, or knows where I can get some of them? I'm mostly interested in Ash, K, and Iori... well and maybe some Kyo. PWEASE?

(To reply, you don't have to be helping me, just simply... ask if you need something too).

AND SO THE THREAD IS A GOOOOOOOO!

I think you can use Audacity to capture the voices. Assuming KoF has some sort of a sound test or if you can disable the music.

I could totally do that.

Looking for English scans of any of the ...vs Slayers manga. My research have pointed to a guy named Shansito(http://submanga.com/Maburaho_VS_Slayers (http://submanga.com/Maburaho_VS_Slayers)) who's translated it into Spanish, and possibly English.

If anyone finds it they will get... something very special.

FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com/)
Title: Re: Request [parasitic bomb] Here: The Thread
Post by: Rad Lionheart on January 21, 2010, 07:05:58 AM
FRAPS is a heavy recorder though, it creates very large, very raw .avi files.

If you've got a decent enough computer, I'd say go more with BB Flashback Pro.
It creates much smaller files (.fbr) that you can manage with various codecs, for better file sizes and a wider range of formats.

Also FRAPS demo puts [parasitic bomb] on your PC that nobody wants.

Title: Re: Request [parasitic bomb] Here: The Thread
Post by: VixyNyan on January 21, 2010, 12:07:38 PM
Install Camtasia anyway. It has a TechSmith Codec that you can set to faster compression, and the quality will be losslessly PNGlicious~! No JPG artifact at all. Try it. You'll love it. Better than the RAW uncompressed codec. It's best to use for screen recording, sprite ripping and emulators that has AVI recording inside them. ^.^

But it's only used to keep the quality of a video untouched for later editing. You still have to use another codec for internet uploads and live streaming. For this I recommend h264 MP4 or Xvid AVI. MP4box program fixes the long waiting time when you watch your MP4 online, so in a command window (Start > Run > cmd), type "MP4box -isma filename.mp4" and your video will be ready for online entertainment~

Both MP4 and AVI can play video online at 60fps~ <3 MP4 is so much better online tho. It's smaller, and the quality is sexcellent~ </wii>

What is a good program(and free) for making nice animooted gifs? I want to animate some nice sprites... and I have no idea how to do it.
It also needs to have some sort of editor, so that I can set the sprites correctly in case they do not line up like they should.

Rockman 7 FC can be found in RPM's Music Archive (http://forum.rockmanpm.com/index.php?topic=172.0), although it's not in one ZIP file.

As for Rockman 8 FC, I've no idea. Someone else could probably help you with that.

Are you SERIOUSLY asking us to give you link to download a FULL GAME non-freeware game? Just like that in the open?

I don't think Vixy is going to like that, even if it's PSO(which is old).

If you're having any troubles, send the MP3 to me and i'll send you back the looped wav (even if it's 120 MB)

Anyone got PSF or PSF2 files of the later X games (anything between X4-8, CM would be cool too). If I don't get them, my INFINITE LOOOOOOOP playlist will never be complete! Or more complete... I already have... MM1-8.5, X1-3, all Zero, all ZX, DASH 1 (unnamed tracks though), EXE1-6, (no Jap-only ones or 4.5, or NT), and all SF. I NEED EVERY MEGAMAN GAME IN MY PLAYLIST! IT IS MY GOAL!

(anything between X4-8, CM would be cool too).

Can't be done. They are streamed music. (not midi-sized, but more like WAV-sized)

They can be converted into a format that gives you loop features. For PS2 games, the format is ADX and can be directly copied from the DVDs and played with the vgmstream plugin, and that plugin has looping feature. The PS1 games are XA format and are in a set length (usually 6 minutes). They can be manually edited into loopable music, but that takes a lot of work, and later convert them to another file type.

I'm sure Audiosurf is packed with the Orange box soundtrack, and if Portal itself doesn't come with it, you can access the sound files through GCFScape.

Title: Re: Request [parasitic bomb] Here: The Thread
Post by: Fariator on May 28, 2010, 10:39:30 AM
Sign up on Livestream and download their procaster software. Then go live with it.

Or if you are a Mac OS X user: download CamTwist and sign up on uStream. Then go live with it. Additionally if you want to stream your computer's sounds AND speak simultanously, download LineIn (for redirecting audio-in to audio-out) and SoundFlower (as means to change audio output).

Both of those choices are free.

Though, if you want to stream stuff from consoles like Vixy, you need to prepare for investments depending on how good quality you demand.

Livestream works better for Windows and uStream for Mac. That coming from expierence with both OSes and times when I have streamed stuff.

I used to use Toaster for Winamp, you can change the font and size, as well as placement.
If that's what you're lookin' for anyway.

Foobar2000 only has a word bubble from the taskbar that comes up, it's fairly annoying so I don't use it.
Not sure if there's a toaster GUI plugin available for it.

But since i'm self taught, and thus have a different style of creation, i have no reason to check if the methods in here will actually be helpful to you. Give it a try though and see how it goes.

Also i'd suggest finding some good pre-cut renders for your first few times.

Hey, can someone get me some X-series sound effects, such as shooting and dashing and stuff, in an archive? I need it for a secret project. WAV format for the sounds would be preferred, but I can just convert it if they're in some other format.

I can give you X1 sound effects, but it would take some time to sort them out. If you have the guts to do them yourself, you can check out Capcom's official soundtrack to X1, it has the whole list in .mp3 format.

I'll offer a download link once I'm done, though, the file's too huge for my email. :\

Kinda the point why I asked for a straight rip of the OST/Game Version, which IS on there. Either it is, or the .mp3 X8 OST rip on the Megaman Network threw that in as a bonus. For this trick with Audacity/*insert sound edit program here* to work, they recommend the cleanest, otherwise the vocals are still present, only muffled. I've tried this with straight .mp3s and that conversion, and so far that's the problem.

But, this is just an idea for gaining fans if my fandub group gets beyond Megaman Zero, plus something to do once I'm done with playing catch-up.

Besides, THIS

Try these. It's got the american version name on it, but it says "unreleased tracks".

And this one is a single, it just has the tracks "koe" and "moe".

Altough technically not a request, I wanted to ask for some advice.

Basically my problem is related to my storywriting.

I made up a universe for certain series of stories. It's a vast place, full of super heroes, time travelers, evil organizations, extra-terrestrial gods/beings, good organizations, villains/super villains, cults, different species living in different sides of the cosmos and other stuff like that.
It's basically supposed to be a universe which parodies many things, but is also supposed to be able to stand on its own.

The problem comes in with... well... the plot. I have it more or less finished. All the major events, characters and [parasitic bomb] have been written down... for the most part.
But... I'm kinda afraid of starting writing it... cuz, well.

I tend to [tornado fang] things like this up.

What do I mean? Well the problem lies in me not being able to properly balance out the DRAMA and HUMOR. It's always like this... everything starts out lighthearted and humorous, then plot kicks in and SHITTY DRAMA SHITTY DRAMA NOT FUNNY NOT FUNNY AT ALL.

So I'm asking for a bit of advice... what would be a good way for me to balance this [parasitic bomb] out?

kthx

There's plenty of good examples on how to write a good story that balances out drama and humor. First of all, you need to make drama not be clichéd. You need to make FUN of cliché drama in the first place, so you can make way for actual drama, actual bad things that happen. Give the story required characters, like a Straight Man, a villain who recognizes how bullshit everything is, and maybe a few people who take the whole thing seriously.

Depending on how big the comedy goes, you have to balance your story from there. There are stories which have comedy, but it's mostly goofy stuff that is part of the action, like Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Then there's stuff that has plenty of heavy in-your-face comedy, but manages to be quite insightful and have the necessary drama, like Transmetropolitan.

To quote a bad example, look at Devil May Cry 4, for example. They made a comedy, but COMPLETELY missed the mark with the awful dramatic-wannabe story. Only the Dante parts deserve praise. The Fallout trilogy, for example, manages to be really funny at parts, without losing all of the insightful plot moments.

It all depends on how your story is, the genre, style, type... Can I have more info about it?
Title: Re: Request [parasitic bomb] Here: The Thread
Post by: Rin on August 01, 2010, 12:57:33 AM
Thank, Most Excellent Superbat, for your reply.

So you want more info? More info you shall get. There are still some details I have not worked out yet, but they are mostly related to the "ancient" history of the world... so not that important.

So... for starters.

The story would be called "Twisted Reality", and it would be divided between into three/four separate mini-stories. Each focusing on different things.
The world is basically like this:
In the year 2013 a meteor fell from the sky, sending out a strange wave across the entire globe. Some people, got super powers out of it, or just simply mutated, while others were unaffected. The people who got SUPAH POWERS, were called "Supers", while the mutated ones were dubbed "The Condemned" (mostly because most of them became mindless monsters).

Then a war broke out, between Supers, The Condemned and humanity. Eventually, Supers got in on the good terms with humanity, and gang raped The Condemned. Then, a hero of that war, unified all the countries in the world, and created "The Great Emprie of Earth", and he himself became first emperor to rule this empire.
So. The story takes place 200/300 years after the creation of the empire. The world has currently entered the Heroic Age, where Super Heroes are popping up all over the world, to fight Super Villains... whether they be Supers, or normal humans.

Now, as I said... this thing will be divided into three/four mini-stories. These are all of them:

1. Saviors

It's about a guy named Ralies Darknoir, who works for an agency called "Helping Hand", which takes care of various problems people have. However, the truth is, that Helping Hand is part of an organisation called Guard, which protects the empire from all kinds of evil. Also keeps the Super Heroes in check.
Ralies is supposed to be a parody of a dark, serious and dark characters. He swears a lot and [parasitic bomb]. His powers ARE DARKNESS. The other two main charas are Adrien, a guy who is very, VERY smart but sometimes loses it all in certain moments(due to an unfortunate accident), and Violette, a Super who can only use her powers while playing an instrument, in her case it's a... violin.
Overall, this one is supposed to focus on SECRET ORGANIZATION side of things.

2. Legend of a Conqueror
It's about an evil overlord called Lord Everellion. This one is basically like Excel Saga. Everellion and his peeps are trying to conquer the world, but fail each time. However, Everellion at one point will meet with a mysterious woman named MU, who requires something of him, but doesn't reveal what.
Additionally, Everellio and his cheerleaders will often fighr with various other characters from the other storiers.
This one is suppoed to tell the story from a villains point of view.

3. OMEGA MAN.
It's about a teenager who is a Super Hero named Omega Man (GEDDIT?!). He is later joined by a girl who specializes in magic, nicknamed Abrakadabra(YES I'M SO ORIGINAL), and a guy who looks like a wannabe Tuxedo(the one from Sailor Moon), who just kicks everybody's ass.
In this story, everything is kinda "villain of the week", but it has it's own storylines. Omega Man will have to fight with villainous groups such as: Mafia Squirreltex, Team R(revolution), and his darker herself called Dark Man. WOW!
This one is supposed to show everything from the super hero side.

Now, for the last one... I'm not sure if I should include this in the story, but I can still tell you about it.

4. COUNT OF THE UNIVERSE

This one is about... a guy who refers to himself as Count Luminous. He is a strange, and pretty painfully honest man. He travels through space, using and item called the Damoleus Scepter.
Luminous is in fact a Techno Mage, from planet Tenmaorius, unlike The Doctor however, he dies when he's killed. PREMAMENTLY.
Luminous will travel the cosmos and fight evil beings such as: Kriegg, an evil race of robotic being who just exist to kill, Teuroids, another group of robots, this time resembling humans in every shape and form. They wish to replace humanity in the cosmos with themselves.
This one is supposed to be about cosmic side of TWisted Reality... but for obvious reasons I dunno if I should put it in.

WELL! That's a long post. But I can't really explain anything properly without this getting TL;DR. I still simplified everything the best I could, so if you wanna know more about something, let me know.

And sorry for all the spelling/grammatical errors. I kind tired, but can't sleep. D :

[OH [parasitic bomb]! I JUST REALIZED YOU ONLY ASKED ABOUT GENRE, STYLE AN TYPE... [tornado fang]... still, you should be able to more or less tell by my descriptions. ffff]
Title: Re: Request [parasitic bomb] Here: The Thread
Post by: Bueno Excelente on August 01, 2010, 02:05:55 AM
Quite informative. Now, if you don't mind me saying, that story pretty much uses every single cliché in the book. =P But as you said, funny's what you're going for, so alright, let's see. I STILL need you to tell me what you're going for, because this kind of story would work out quite well as a pure comedy, but I guess you can insert a bit of good plot in as well. The names are the worst I've seen in terms of cliché, so focus a few laughs on them, make sure the characters yell them dramatically and stuff while others arc ironically about them (a straight man always helps when dealing with self-narrating superhero nutjobs who take their justice roles too seriously. Heck, villains too. Make sure you insert alot of "dark" and "rage" and "revenge!" into their schemes).

Quote
and Violette, a Super who can only use her powers while playing an instrument, in her case it's a... violin.

Try not to make straight-off copies, specially when they're recently created characters in currently successful comics.
Title: Re: Request [parasitic bomb] Here: The Thread
Post by: Rin on August 01, 2010, 06:33:07 AM
What I'm going for is basically this:
Even tough it's supposed to be a complete comedy, parody and stuffs, it's also suppsoed to have a LOL SRS storyline.
Of course, that's only a disguise, because the plot is supposed to be as ridiculous as possible and borrow even more cliches in order to fuel even more comedy.
The characters from those different stories would often meet in a cross-over, to battle some very evil bad guy. There will be also a lot of time travel elements in all of them, dimension hopping too.
Of course, considering I'm crazy about continuity all events would be canon in each story. So for example, if something major were to happen like suddenly... well, Everellion were to conquer the world in his story, then it would also take effect in the other three stories.

I hope this time I provided enough information about what I'm going for.
Also, thanks for your advices, they are helpful.

OH and Violette is just basically of my own design, so she's not exactly a borrowed character or a parody. Unless you count the typical ANGRY [sonic slicer] GIRLFRIEND cliche.

As for what the hell just happened here, I request that a writing room subsection of the forum should be made. Although I do admit I'd watch it just to see where this idea goes, I would like a place to post all my episode scripts so people can edit them and see reactions just before I make the episode.

Would be [parasitic bomb] loads of text and data to load, but if there were a spoiler rule, it could work.

(P.S. - I WILL have to rewrite episode 1 because of recording quality, so even if you want some laughs and don't want to help, you can see what the actors dealt with.)

WatchXonline.com is dead to me. -_-
No thanks... so my request is a site similar to it. It should have streams of various tv shows, animations and whatnot.
Ads are fine, i can block any with ABP. Just that i don't want one popping up every 2mins saying: Survery! Take one, get two. Here's a useless ad. ;O;

I'd like to request some ADVICE.

What's the most advantageous form of.. Blogging? I hate that word. But right now I'm using livejournal and this is how I see it;

Livejournal: Good for socially heavy internet users and subsequent communities, like, a group of fan artists or fan fiction authors. Without such a social foundation, ones' livejournal is doomed to relative obscurity, like mine.

Blogspot: More accessible, widely known, can get a decent amount of exposure without the examples of a decent social foundation as given above.

Am I right, or wrong? Do I make the move to blogspot. As much as I love tumblr I don't think that'd be the best because, people seem to use tumblr to make random-image collections, really. Let's keep in mind that I live in some random island country in the middle of the ocean where people don't use the internet in these ways, really.

it seems that this thread also has "function" to ask for some advices so...
mind if I ask any of your advice(s)?

[spoiler= the problem]uhh...
let's just say that my girlfriend is over-jealous (she's always jealous to ANY girl whom I talked to... except my sister, of course...  -u-') yet, she didn't want to break up with me (no matter what I do, she won't break up with me)
of course, this may be my chances to "cheat on her" or something... but it really annoys me...
can anyone help me solve this problem?[/spoiler]

still, you may think this problem is a problem anyone can solve... but not for me...
and don't you suggest me to ask this problem to my parents or friends because I'm rarely talked to my parents and I only have few friends... and they're extremely busy with their college, too...

so please, help me...

She's your girlfriend. You should, by very definition, be able to tell her straight how you feel about everything, and that you're unhappy about your relationship. Don't cheat on her, cheating is the most rotten thing you can do in any kind of relationship, and it makes you not only the bad guy, but someone who likes to hurt. Just go and tell her truthfully how you feel, and tell her that if she isn't willing to change how she feels, you don't feel this relationship is worth pursuing.

okay...

I'm about to create a fan-fiction
I already have the characters, the main story, etc.

but the problem is...
I don't know how to start it
and IF I'd already start it...
I don't know how to made the story into more interesting to read...

if you asked the genre of my fan-fiction, it have any single genre you could imagine (except "adult" thingy, since little kid also seemed to enjoy reading my Prologue, which I made just for fun, and actually have NO CONNECTION with the main story)

so please, help me...

I'm not... exactly a fan of fanfictions. And from what you're telling me, it's the vaguest thing possible. First of all, there is no such thing as "no genre". There's always a given style, a certain kind of writing you use. Unless I know what you're trying to do in the first place, I can't give you any advice whatsoever.

I do give you one piece of advice. Get to work on your grammar.

okay...
let's just say the genre is action-comedy-horror...

as for grammar...

so, forgive me for any mistakes...

Again, you didn't tell me what you're trying to do with the story in the first place.

Want good advice? Read a good book. Most people nowadays don't read, that's why they can't write well. As long as you read, you'll see how to write well, and you'll be able to type out any kind of quality narrative you want.

Wait... wait, wait, wait.
You want to write a FAN FICTION, and don't know how to start it?
Jesus... that sounds like me once upon a time.
I take it, you didn't write a carefully planned plot outline? You just have everything in your head, right?
If the answer is: YES, then... BACK THE HELL UP!
You gotta write those things down, man. EVERYTHING. Starting from character profiles(if you're using original charas, that is) and ending on the plot outline.
You can't just write from your head, because that's not how this [parasitic bomb] works. Not even in fanfiction.

If you do, however, have written a plot outline already... then just start writing. There's really nothing that stops you.
But as I said, I don't think you have it written out.
Tell us what this "story" or "fan fic" is supposed to be about? What series?
C'mon.

Learn to read the classics.

If you think it's too tough, try reading something else, by Fitzgerald or Hemingway, to start you up on national stuff, then move onto German and Russian literature.

If I remember right, emulator zsnes can rip the music from the SNES games. You just turn on the game in dat there emu, and press F1 when you hear a song you want and... well, there should be something like "save spc data" or something. Click it, and it will save your song... tough, remember. They are very small files.
You can play them using these tools:

http://snesmusic.org/v2/players.php

On the other hand, you could just take the music from this site there, and be done with it. Since it provides download of spc music for all the SNES games. : P

I'm looking for a rather strange picture. It's a rendering of a human being where the size of its body parts are proportional to the sensory nerves present in the vicinity of each part of the body. Obviously, I searched with no luck. Help, please?

Oh for the love of God, I need someone who can actually "obtain" stuff from "Perfect Dark".
I can't get certain things I want, so... can anybody who uses and can actually "obtain" things using that program... pm me? Or post here, so I can pm him?
I have a request for a couple of small files (20/17 mb) that I can't obtain myself... even though I gathered enough unity cache.

Or if you know someone else who can help me, post here/pm me as well.

I know there are a fair few Star Wars experts here, so I suppose I'll ask, anyone know the specific name/album/whatever of this song?

Ripped it from Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. It was used for the Bespin Streets level and Menu for the GC port. Given Sony likes to block most videos that have the SW Soundtracks, I haven't been able to figure out its proper name by myself.

It sounds like a rhapsody of alot of different Star Wars tunes played a bit more softly than usual. Maybe it's an actual song from SW soundtracks, but I can't remember it.

It's pretty much just random tracks mixed together from The Empire Strikes Back. I don't think it's a specific track, but if it is it would be on the re-released Empire Strikes Back soundtrack.

Yeah, because for whatever reason (probably to save time and maybe some Benjamins) they used the origional tracks from the movies for most of their SW games. Including, but not limited to..

- Star Wars Episode 1: Racer
- Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds
- Star Wars Battlefront
- Star Wars: X-Wing x TIE Fighter
- LEGO Star Wars
- Super Star Wars
- Star Wars Rouge Squadron
- Star Wars Lightsaber Duels
- Star Wars: Demolition

... And I can go ON with this. And specifically, that's the Bespin theme from the movies on one half, and the song that plays when Luke decends onto one of  Bespin's Landing Platforms, basically.

Even the Family Guy Star Wars specials do re-use the origional songs too.

Okay, here's an easier one for ya cosplayin' blokes:
I'm looking for a well-made (Umm, not on a professional level, but good enough) ESEF Uniform from the Gundam franchise, regardless of era (save for some where the ESEF doesn't exist, well.. not my problem). The price limit should go under $300.99, hopefully. A good reason why I'm asking this is just in case I go to the FSC again, I won't be caught dead as a non-cosplayer. Hell, my dad went as Donny Darko from the movies and my brother either Kaito (Vocaloid or Korea (Hetalia, can't remember which).

.Sooo... yeah.

It would be tedious, but you could use Media Player Classic to play the SWF frame by frame, screen-capping each one. Then use a gif maker to combine the frames.

If anything, a screencap of one of Fairy Tail's eyecatch sequences, to be used as a good ref, for I not know of a site that has good quality and when I screencap off of youtube, they'll look pixelated, making some details slightly blurry and hard to read. I might do that when I have the chance, but I don't think the later seasons are up yet (when [parasitic bomb] gets real, and two rival clans clash!)... So yeah.

If this thread isn't totally out of commission, and I am posting on-topic with a good amount of content, it would be nice if someone did up a custom "capture the flag" stage for MMVX so I can start working on multiplayer. Trying to find unassembled stage sprites from any SNES game is a pain. :|

By the way, did someone mention grabbing Megaman X sound effects? It's actually fairly easy for the first game, somewhat difficult for the second, and I haven't bothered with third yet (focused on X/X2 for now until the game takes full shape). For the first game, on the options menu is a sound test. All you have to do is record to AVI as you scroll through and play each sound, then separate the sound in Vegas or a video converter. The second game is a different story. You have to use F7-F12 and disable all but channels 1 and 2 of sound and then perform the actions that produce the sounds you are looking for. Some other sounds may require enabling other channels, which will play music, but when you cut the sound itself out, that channel's sound becomes just that effect for its duration.

Gaia, just use Any Video Converter. It's a badass program, and my personal Swiss army knife of videos and Youtube.
