Come everyone! COME AND WATCH ME!
WATCH ME, as I post here my failures of a sprites. They reek of fail, however, maybe in time, I will obtain skills to make them less fail. But right now, I'm VERYYY bad at this [parasitic bomb].

So, I just finished making a simple little sprite of Leopard from Sora Kake Girl. It's done in a sideview, and it kind of sucks. BUT I'M POSTING IT HERE ANYWAY SINCE THIS IS THREAD FOR MY FAILURES. Oh, and it's not supposed to be in any of those 8-bit, 16-bit, whatever-bit styles. It is just kind of there. Without a real style.

Yo, I finally decided to make something, and it's 8-bit. I didn't bother with transparent background.
Anyway, I decided to give myself some kind of spriting project in order to train myself. I call it "RockMega 8-bit". I will be making my own 8-bit sprites of various Rokkuman/Megaman characters. Not in any specific order. Just at random like that. First one is Quickman. He kind of didn't turn out how I wanted him to turn out, what do you guys think?

Yeah, it do kind of sucks. I'm thinking about remaking it in possible future. But right now, I want to do MANY things, and they do not involve british chick-bots.

Herro.
This time, I present you an ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL.
I'm planning to maybe make a 8-bit sprite comic(that is, if I make more sprites) called "Rockman NEXT - Time Wars".(working title). I even have a plot outline in my head, more or less.
Basically, Wily has been stopped once again and peace returned to the world. HOWEVER! Suddenly from the future arrives human girl named Leria and gives Rockman a certain ring that allows him to not be affected by the changes made in history. The reason for this is obvious, a certain group of humans called "Cult Paradox" is causing changes throughout history, for example, they killed Doctor Light and Doctor Wily back when the two just started getting into robotics, and they replaced them with their own geniuses that would shape the world for Cult Paradox to rule. Rockman must go back and forth in time to defeat all the Robot Generals of Cult Paradox, and then defeat the two human rulers of the Cult, Lord Paradox and Lady Paradox.
I hope it doesn't sound too retarded. I tried to keep the bullshit as minimum as possible, when I thought this one up. Now that I think of it, it would be a good game, if only I knew how to make one.

This guy here is one of the leaders of the Cult, Lord Paradox. He's a human, but thanks to his armor he has incredible strenght. Still, he will get his ass kicked by Rokkuman, because something something.

Uh, no fighting? :\ Also, 8-bit sprite doesn't need that much shade. Your´s are a bit too big,that's the problem.
Try edits first before you start scratchs.
Take a lookie around the bosses:

Hmm... I actually never tried editing from 8-bit sprites. I could try.
Also, that Cult Paradox guy, is supposed to be in my own style of spriting... but I guess 8-bit doesn't look to good if it's this big. I might turn him into a different style of sprite.

You see, here comes in the little trick I use.
The program that I draw in, has an option, in which you can set the "mass" on the the usual brush tool.
What it does, is it makes the brush follow your movements at slower pace, which allows you to actually draw with mouse.
How much of this "mass" you apply is entirely dependent on you.
Now, it's not cheating or anything. Because even though it makes drawing with a mouse easier, it's STILL a pain in the ass to make things look at least moderately okay. YOU still need SKILLZ to be able to DRAW WELL. Seriously... my first tries with this "mass" option were less than pleasant too look at.
Drawing complex images is still a problem for me... but I'm constantly traning myself... or somesuch.

That sounds like the smoothing option in SAI/Open Canvas/Otherdrawingprograms except that you have a parameter you can adjust~ I personally never liked them because I like my lines to have sharp corners but it sounds like a useful trick =O

Except in this case, you CAN actually have sharp corners, if you want. In fact you can do almost anything, you can do with a tablet, if you are skilled enough.
Which I am not. : P

I inserted sfx from various things, I either downloaded or ripped myself (Baron's footsteps for one, were ripped by me from KH2 : D).
I wanted to make it look more professional.
And thanks, it means a lot to me that you say that it did sound professional. Even though you do point out something I hate about me speaking English, as in... my goddamn accent. : P
Still, thanks.
Oh and the music is from the actual movie this scene is in... god bless Japan and their soundtrack releases. : D

There's nothing wrong with an accent xD In fact, it can add character. In this case though, it felt a bit more like you didn't know how to put emotion into this particular language. But say, the laughs, they were spot on.
Ah, so they are custom sounds, I thought so~ You're missing a wind sound/general ambience though. Other than that it sounds good~ You're seriously missing the kid's voice though~~

Well, I'm still working on my acting in English, so yeah... I might get better one day. : P
Yeah, I wanted to dub little Olivier too at first, but then it hit me I can't imitate little kids without making myself (and others too) cringe.
I don't really have problem with laughs too much... only as you pointed out, putting emotion into this particular language.
I'm thinking about redoing this one... to see how it turns out.

Because I'm trying to make a style for myself, and I decided that maybe I should do pointy shoulders for characters as one of the things for it.
But if it looks that bad, I can change it as you say it.

Well, pointy shoulders isn't something that always looks bad, but at the moment, with your current style, it looks more like a mistake than a stylistic choice. =w=a

Also keep in mind that you should stick to rounder shapes and smoother curves if you draw girls.
Harder angles make someone look more masculine.
