Title: Custom Robo Thread
Post by: Gaia on November 11, 2008, 11:58:26 PM
Bringing back the origional topic from RPM of old

TOPIC SUMMARY:

Alright, as far as we can remember, Cust. Robo arena is a game that allows you to customize and battle with your robots in a special feild called "the hollesium". there, you can do battle.

Even within this peaceful and fun realm, there's bound to be baddies, trading "illegal parts". Scyndates often come and go, usually beaten by a kid. (See: Custom Robo 64, and Custom Robo Arena)

Now here comes the fun part: ever since WiFi captatabilites was introduced, the game Custom Robo Arena allowed you to keep your buddie's FCs, even when porting your data into your new DS.

Now that's over, discuss, set up times to play Custom Robo arena, and whatnot.

Wow, I thought I was the only person that played this game.   Curious, do you have any art from the game?  I am been driving myself nuts trying to find anything.

I also play this game but my interest stems only from my experience with virtual on, a similar game that sega has been running into the ground like everything else they create

I love Custom Robo! I have both the Gamecube one and the DS one!

I'm a Ray user, Ray X is my favorite Custom Robo!

Sorry, no luck. It's tricky, having to look everywhere, only to find fan-art from the series..  :|

Indeed, Sega has been.. but.. Virtual on eh?

A Ray user eh? Well, Ray MKII is better. We can battle on CRA (Custom Robo Arena, remember that folks) to see who's superior.. (But then again, TIMEZONES. 3:## PM - 11:00 PM is when I'm usually active) :W

I have the Gamecube version currently, but that's about it.  It's a decent game, but it didn't really stand out to me as a single-player title.

How's the DS one?

Pretty fun, since you start out with a balanced Robo, (Ray MkII) and the story returns to it's roots. (kid vs scyndate) Once you get more parts and Robos, then the real fun starts. customize multipule parts and Robos for the perfect one, to dominate your foes over wifi, speaking of wich, you can lock your friend's FC data if you ever needed to port over to a new DS.

So yeah, pretty good actually.

How many "useless" things do they have? I remember trying out a bunch of different weapons in the GC Custom Robo and found maybe 3 I liked (Shotgun, some kind of hornet thing, and some type of spreader), and the sub weapons I found to be completely useless. In order to really take advantage of most of them, you had to be a damn good planner and make sure the plan followed through without a hitch, just deal a small bit of damage. Unless it was some kind of nuke type sub weapon, I pretty much only relied on the gun.

The Hornet Gun has always been a fav to to certain people. The only problem you never tried the robos. XD

And as for the useless things.. I'd say not much, but if you experiment, you'd probably own the competitors with the right wit and customization. (Was CRA a sport in RPM? dunno)

Nah, I tried out a bunch of different combinations. Found a few that were good, but some were crap. I remember beating the final boss with the shotgun though. Almost as good as when I got a head shot on an enemy that was about to kill my ally in a double battle XD (pretty awesome shot too, jumped up and fired the gun, and it went off right in the head). The Hornet was pretty good, but I can't remember on what types I used it against.

If the rental place around here still has the game up for rent (or Game Stop having a really cheap copy) I'll get it when I have a chance.

You should try more robos besides the Ray-01 sometime. should help in some cases. Gamestop, and other VG retailers still have GCN games, you should ask the cashier that works at Gamestop (and maybe) EB Games, for Custom Robo.

I'm good. I ended up choosing a completely different type though, I hardly stuck with Ray. I can't remember which one it was (either the 3x jump one or the ninja dash model). I don't have a GC memory card though, and they're like 15 bucks a pop, even used >< I sadly traded in a game with the memory card in there, didn't realize it, and by the time I did, it was too late. Can't remember which Game Stop I traded it in at, but I remember the people working at it were douche-bags, and so one of them took it (I asked a friend of mine who works at Game Stop, and he said that if they found a memory card inside a game or something, they had to let the person know about it. They can't even accept little cheat sheets because when I traded in my copy of Mega Man Anniversary, I had a sheet with all the passwords on it and they had to throw it away), or at least, never bothered to call me back about it and hung the memory card up for sale.

Ouch. Then if you are really lucky, I'd suggest CRA. (Custom Robo Arena, again -_-)

Sadly I need money, and unless I start selling stuff (Wii games and Orange Box are on the list), my buying anything days are over (less than 100 bucks sitting in total for me. Not good).

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know of a site or place with accurate prices for buying or selling Yu-Gi-Oh! cards? I found my old deck and I have a bunch of rares I can sell.

entire plan was to sell it on ebay, but that isn't exactly an accurate place to get a price for a card.

I'm trying, but it doesn't help when it seems like half of them are scam sites or not easily accessible list of prices
