Exteel (http://www.exteel.com/us/)

Fun PvP, if you want to call. Though some of the goods may need Points cards, wich requires real money to purchase. (such as NC pointer Mechanaughts, more powerful than in-game ones, though requires NC points to buy)

Sister Game of Mabinogi, with it's own charm.

Cube 2: Sauerbraten (http://www.sauerbraten.org)
An Open Source FPS similar in (many) ways to Quake. It's about a 200MB download though, so it may take a while on slower connections. It's got quite a few interesting features though, most notably, a (sorta) easy-to-use, in-game level editor. If configured right, it can run fine on most machines.

If your wondering about the strange name by the way, Cube 2 is the name of the engine, and Sauerbraten is the name of the actual game, not sure why "sauerbraten" though.

Sauer = Sour
Braten = Fry/Grill
SauerBraten = Braised Beef

I knew that part, just wasn't sure why they picked the name of a food, but after looking around a bit, it seems the creator of the engine first thought of the idea while eating sauerbraten, so he just decided to use that as a working title, but kept it.

I installed it on my pc; it's largely unfinished from what I can tell...but its an obvious work in project. More emphasis on maps, then models, though. They're in desperate need of models...There's no head model >.> Try going into 3rd person mode (like, the 9 key I think. One of the numbers...) and there's no head. I laughed, but yeah. The hands are also still...textureless...but other then it being a work in model and full of bugs; it'd be interesting to become a part of it.

Might be a glitch with your graphics card, normally when switching to third person it should look like this:
Try reporting this bug to the website's bug reports board (http://www.cubeengine.com/forum.php4?action=display_thread&thread_id=1890) I'm sure that someone can help you there.

Anyways, back on the main topic, there's also AssaultCube (http://assault.cubers.net/), which is more of a team-based style of gameplay and not as fast-paced as Cube 2. AssaultCube can run well on pretty much any machine as it uses an older engine (Cube 2's predecessor to be exact), and is only a 40MB download. It also has an ingame editor, but it's a bit outdated and more complex to use. Be warned though, when you first start playing, you're going to die alot, trust me

That game's awesome. I love the dialogues in this game.

Also, can you continue the plot after you save the mayor? I got the key to the hotel room and bought the baseball bat, but can't find anything to move forward.

Gonna need a beta key from games radar to play the open beta, you get to keep your characters though, so if you dont have a games radar account then make one, the game is worth while. Its a beat-em-up, but with combos, skills specials and all that RPG things, pick gunner, its really good Plus you can catch up to people since most people are 16 levels and under.

Blood Frontier (http://www.bloodfrontier.com/)
Another Open Source FPS. It's currently in the beta stages though, however it's got a nice community, and the lead developer(s) greatly accept user feedback, etc. I'd recommend to get the Development Branch (http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/bloodfrontier/index.php?title=SVN), since it's updated nearly everyday, and is way better than the current release.

Fraxy

This is a shoot 'em that's sorta like Geometry Wars but this game gives you a HUGE amount of customization. You can literally make your own enemies and fight them. You can change all sorts of settings for the game, it has English support. Best of all -- IT"S FREE! The game however is still in its beta stages, but hopefully we'll see a final version of the game in the future.

Reflection by Ysuer

This is basically a "beta" of Siter Skain's RefleX. Be warned though, this game truly shows its age since it was made in 1997 and its an EXTREMELY short shoot 'em up game. If you want a longer and better version of this game, then you may want to look into Siter Skain's remake of Reflection, RefleX (http://www.siterskain.com/reflex/index.html) (which is a doujin you'd have to pay for).

Power-ups comes in the form of rotating triangles that can either give your ship a boost in its firepower, add bombs, or give it a shield to survive one hit. Picking one power-up will abandon the others, but if you can manage to stay in the center of all three long enough, then you can reap the benefits of all three power-ups. I did run into some problems with the game not running properly, but that's probably this computer's problem or the game was not updated for Windows Vista/7. Also, if you prefer to run a game in a windowed resolution (640x480 for example), unfortunately this game forces you to play at full screen.

Including the famous Shoryuken, Hedgewars is a freeware game modeled after Worms. It contains a vararity of weapons and two martial arts skill for each skinnable hedgehog.

http://www.hedgewars.org/about.html (http://www.hedgewars.org/about.html)

A game can get hellish really quick in a server game, but you can play against a com, but if you are new to the game, it's gonna be tough.
Right-Click to bring up the weapons menu, or alternatively, cycle through F1-F9 for each.

- Left and Right moves the Hedgehog in that direction.
- Spacebar to fire your current weapon.
- Backspace to do a backwards double jump.
- Enter for jumping.

Below is the game (and the trailer) in action:

Plus a certain support unit is in development, check it out! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SCq43hsHII&feature=player_embedded)

I already played it~

You can save the game, and then edit the save file with notepad so you have full power ups, as many 1-ups you want and start at any level.

I found another free doujin shoot 'em up.

Download Reflection ver1.02 (http://www.vector.co.jp/download/file/win95/game/fh093258.html)

Holy crap! I've been trying to find this game for ages! Thanks!

Can we get a short rundown of what it's about?

In Diamonds, you have to destroy all the blocks that are the same color as your ball, starting with Cyan blocks, because your ball begins as that color and cannot change back once it becomes a different color by touching a "paintbrush" block, which changes the color of your ball to either red, blue, green, violet, brown, and for the "key" and "lock" bricks, orange. Once you clear all the colored blocks, you then must destroy all the "diamond" blocks to proceed to the next level. Skull blocks must be avoided at all costs, as they kill you on contact, but they also act as means of suicide should you fail to destroy all the cyan blocks before switching your ball's color.

He's the one who solely worked on the game's programming and illustrations. There's ten playable characters and five support characters (one of them is only accessed through VS. Mode on Random Select). The visuals definitely something you'd expect from a commercial 2D fighting game like Street Fighter and the audio is pretty good. It was made by using Enter Brain's 2D Fighter utility. The game itself is well made, but its also going through a lot work fixing any bugs and balancing the game. And this game is 100% free. Be sure to keep an eye on this game because version updates come up often around this time. Here's the readme file in English the Shoryuken fourm from an earlier version of the game:

Those who wish to preserve the present, those who wish to abolish it-
Within the world is opposition and conflict; ruined, that future is nearing...

In the intensifying war, a passenger plane is mistakenly shot down.
One by one, casualties are confirmed, but...
One standing person, an uninjured little girl, comes out alive.

Before long, she was a lovely, fully-grown woman.
Although, with the passing of time, mysterious abilities began to awaken.

At first, she was moved to private research facilities.
These were halted by the eye of the Government, however.
Analysis was initiated for military purposes.

The power that but bent Cosmic Law, people call "Planar Manipulation Sorcery".

In combat, eyes opened to the soaring military prowess in wake of this woman-
At the demand for such a solidified military presence...
Boundlessly severe and cruel human testing developed.

Perhaps, in the initial event, her magical power surged out of control,
unintentionally causing the "Astral Impact".

The awe-inspiring magical shockwave extensively, as well as in mass,
bestowed the blessing of Planar Manipulation Sorcery in young girls.

Soon, the forms of girls harnessing magical power became visible in large quantities.
Because of that beautiful fighting figure, they were called,
"Vanguard Princesses", inspiring the elite soldiers.

One year after, around the time the war also faced its end
following the Astral Impact, a thought to be missing little girl
reincarnated as "Executive Overseer" to the destruction of mankind.

And so, the created-to-lead Vanguard Princesses battle engulfed the world...

-Instructions for using AppLocale with Vanguard Princess-
Quote from: IndieGames.com
For those who want to use applocale to run this game, just rename the two files ヴァンガードプリンセス.exe and ヴァンガードプリンセス.kgt with an English name (e.g. Vanguard Princess.exe & Vanguard Princess.kgt); you can choose a name yourself, but the two files need to have the same name, while keeping their original extentions. After the renaming of the two files, start applocale and follow the instructions, don't forget to choose Japanese (日本語) and choose to make a shortcut for accessing the game later easier. After all this the game should be able to start via applocale.

Have fun!

Now, this is quite an old game. Made by this guy I used to know.
Point and click, lousy animation and halfway decent sceneries, but AMAZING story and overall setting.

It's pretty much unavailable anywhere now, most of the links I found were dead, but there's still a few good ones

It's called The Uncertainty Machine. I'd really like more people to try it out. I recently replayed it, and although it's a bit dissapointing in graphics and animation, it more than makes up for it in story.

PPGD: Battle in Megaville (http://flashportal.com/games/battle_in_megaville.html) by arayh

A flash fighting game based on Bleedman's Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi. Simple and customizable controls, six playable characters from the series plus unlockable ones, and 2-player versus mode.

Note: Do NOT play this game with the "large" screen setting since there's a bug that causes the game to mess up.

Genetos by Tetsuya Koyama
Release date: December 24, 2009
Developer: Tetsuya Koyama
Version: v1.00
Genre: 2D > Action > Shoot 'em Up
Content: Mild Violence

(http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/ViperAcid72/ViperAcidZX/Genetos_001.png?t=1280519704)(http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/ViperAcid72/ViperAcidZX/Genetos_002.png)
(http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/ViperAcid72/ViperAcidZX/Genetos_003.png)(http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af200/ViperAcid72/ViperAcidZX/Genetos_004.png)

A shoot 'em up with an evolution theme. In Genetos, you play through the very history of the shoot 'em up genre. You start off with the one of the games that started it all, Space Invaders, and as you play, the game and your ship evolves into later generations of the genre. Next you'll evolve into more 80's style games such as Xevious and Super Star Force, then into arcade-style shooters like RayStorm. Then finally, you evolve into the very games that (sorta) makes up the whole of the genre today, Bullet Hell games such as the Touhou Project, Cho Ren Sha 68k, Ikaruga and more.

The game's visual style is definitely reminiscent to games like REZ and Every Extend, its audio fits with each generations of shooters and its evolutionary theme. Plus your ship can gain different types of weapons through experimenting different ways of playing, such as evolving your bombs to that affects a wide radius to cross-like explosions. Its a short game, but its has ton of replay value. Plus there's also Internet Rankings and a replay feature in this game. Best of all, its free and it has English support.

Download Genetos (http://www.tatsuya-koyama.com/software/wg002_genetos_eng.html)

Major thanks goes to The Observer at DoujinStyle for letting me find out about this game.

I highly resent the idea of bullet hell games being the ultimate in shmups.

If my assumption is wrong, then I'm sorry. Normally, shoot 'em ups I play at this day and age are bullet hell games (both commercial and doujins), but not all bullet hell games are outright ridiculously hard. You got this game that actually starts you off with 15 lives instead of 3 in most bullet hell shooters, or in rare cases 1 life (i.e. Touhou, Castle of Shikigami, Mushihime-sama, Sin and Punishment: Star Successor, and cloudphobia to name a few). Some bullet hell games are actually forgiving to players in games like Siter Skain's Kamui (3 lives, 4 HP per life although the cap is actually 8, and infinite continues), Edelweiss' Ether Vapor (starting with only 2 shield levels / HP and 3 continues but players can gain more as they play the game), x.x's Blue Wish Resurrection Plus (A Cave-ques shooter with player friendly options ranging from an "Auto-Guard" setting that saves the play if they're hit by sacrificing a bomb and a slow-down setting if bullet storms gets too intense to avoid), and Sin and Punishment: Star Successor (which may as well be the Wii's Ikaruga, but has frequent checkpoints and does offer infinite continues unlike the original N64 game where's there's a finite amount of continues).

Adding two more games to the list:
Banana Nababa (http://db.tigsource.com/games/banana-nababa) is a game with nes graphics that consist of only boss fights. You control a little critter that can throw either axes or spears. Pretty hard and entertaining.
And then there is Warning Forever (http://db.tigsource.com/games/warning-forever), also a boss-fight only game. In this case is a shooter game where you fight a boss that each time it gets defeated "evolves" according to the way you defeat him.

Voodoo Mask was simple with the Axe on the first two forms and the spear on the last one. I will fight more bosses later nya. ^^

No harm or offense to anyone with the following phrase.

Really? You got through all 50 of the stages, while I wasn't even able to reach Stage 20. So therefore I'm a far worse player at this game than you or Vixy (if she ever played it) and got past me.

I wasn't attempting to start any competition of sorts with you, or anyone else. I was just saying how I couldn't get past one of the later levels in the second area of the game (stages 11-20).

Screenshots are from the Flash version at Newgrounds

Release date: 2010
Developer: Askiisoft (http://askiisoft.com/)
Version: v1.0 (PC) / v1.04 (Newgrounds Flash version)
Genre: 2D > Action > Platforming > Puzzling
Content: Mild Violence

An indie platforming and puzzle game with nostalgic Game Boy-styled 8-bit visuals and beautiful music (you can buy it here at Flashygoodness' site (http://music.flashygoodness.com/) for less than $1). You play as an unnamed wanderer who sets out to undergo the trails of tower that reaches towards the heavens. Somewhat of a difficult game and its short, but the game's music is definitely memorable. There's also secrets to be found and there's extra modes (and more in the Flash version). The PC version is freeware, but there's much more in the Flash version at Newgrounds and it plays much smoothly, too.

A freeware doujin shoot 'em up based on Strike Witches (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strike_Witches). There's five teams of characters from the series with different strengths and weaponry. The game is kinda CAVE-esque in bullet patterns, but at times kinda unfair, and there's seven stages to play through. Here's the Strike Witches Wiki coverage on the game: [link] (http://strikewitches.wikia.com/wiki/Strike_Witches_STG) I suggest using my mirror of the download below since the download from the main site can take an hour to download.

This is considered to be the DoDanPachi of freeware doujin shooters. The game originally had two releases at Comiket, but the developers unfortunately couldn't find any resources to sell the game outside of Comiket (such as Melonbooks, DLsite, Toranoanna, etc.), so they opt to make the game freeware. It's a very short shooter with five stages, but it makes up for it with CAVE's level of brutality and challenge. It does work differently in some areas than DoDanPachi, like the last enemy you shoot down earns you the most points. There's two fighters with three difficulty levels to choose from plus unlockable ones for 1CC'ing the game. One of the downsides of the game is that the resolution is very small, running at 512x384, and while pressing F5 can make the window bigger, it could also show how pixelated the graphics are if your monitor can't handle small resolutions that well or if you run Windows 7 since the OS hates pixelated games. Ltc has a small guide of the game here at shmup.system.11 (WARNING: LOTS of spoilers!).

Anyone here familiar with Angry Birds (http://www.rovio.com/index.php?page=angry-birds)? Well if you don't have an Android phone or a smart phone or an iPod Touch or iPhone, you're in luck, because Angry Birds is officially playable on Google Chrome (http://chrome.angrybirds.com/). The game is currently in beta, though. You can get Google Chrome here (http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/make/download.html?brand=CHKZ).

-EDIT-
Actually scratch what I said about it being playable on Google Chrome. It appears it's also playable on Firefox (or at least Firefox 4 in my case), but it probably has problems if it's played on a browser other than Google Chrome.

Developer: tinsanity (http://www.tastystatic.com/)
Version: v1.00
Genre: 3D > Platforming

if you like games like The Impossible Game or tricky platforming games, then you might dig this one. According to the developers, this is an homage to an old PC game called Skyroads by BlueMoon Interactive (which is also a remake of a game called Kosmonaut by the same team). You pilot a ship through odd and challenging levels while jumping over gaps, dodging traps, and generally make it through the levels in one piece. It's as simple as it gets. There's a lot of levels to test you wits and reflexes, and if that's not enough, there's also a level editor -- sadly only for the Windows version as of this writing -- and neat extras to unlock. It's available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and it's 100% freeware, so everybody's happy. owob

Developer: rdein (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3698916/site/rdein.html)
Version: v1.4 (as of December 14, 2010)
Genre: 2D > Platforming
Content: Mild Fantasy Violence

Momodora is basically an homage to Cave Story, although it's more like Metroid Fusion from my experience with this game since it's a kinda linear. You play as an orphaned girl who searches for a sacred treasure in an attempt to bring your mother back to life after she sacrificed her life to maintain peace in your homeland of Koho. The artstyle and the visuals themselves definitely bears a resemblance to Daisuke Amaya's style, although the game does run more seamlessly and smoother than the original PC Cave Story since this game was made on a different engine. The game has some nice, and there's a bunch of weapons and items to collect like in Cave Story. On the downside, it can be tad frustrating and there's only one save slot. I haven't finished this game yet, but it's a decent time-killer.

Momodora II

Release date: July 10, 2011
Developer: rdein (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3698916/site/rdein.html)
Version: v037 (as of July 17, 2011)
Genre: 2D > Platforming
Content: Mild Fantasy Violence, Language

The sequel to Momodora released just about a month ago, and it's an improvement over the original. In this installment, it more true to Cave Story or other Metroidvania type of games, although it does have this Legend of Zelda kind of feel to it. The storyline of Momodora II takes place sometime after the first game; in Momodora II, you play as Momo, a shrine maiden from Koho who sets out to banish the new Underworld Queen. This is an improvement over the first game since Momodora has more of a story to it this time around and you feel like there's a little more freedom in the gameplay, plus now there's three save slots instead of of one. There's multiple endings in this game, although the game is not an entirely lengthily experience; it can be beaten in less than 2 hours. Unlike the original Momodora (more or less, Cave Story), you don't get a lot of weapons to play around with; your only weapons are your leaf, which handles like a sword, and your shrine maiden seals that can thrown at enemies. Overall, it's a nice little tribute to Daisuke Amaya.

Not sure if this counts, but the game Crimson Alliance (http://www.crimsonalliance.com/) for Xbox 360 is 100% free to download on XBLA (http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Crimson-Alliance/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258410983). But here's the part that I don't get: the FULL game is free to download, but you get demo restrictions until you buy the character class packs to the game (individual Mercenary, Wizard, and Assassian Class Packs goes for 800 MS Points each; the entire class pack goes for 1200 MS Points), which makes me wonder "Why didn't they release the full game with all classes' abilities unlocked and have a demo version for those who want to try this game, rather than to release a full game with demo restrictions?"

This is the sorta thing why this thread (http://forum.rockmanpm.com/index.php?topic=5606.15) was created; DLC should add more to a game, not to make people pay for something that should already be there.

In the spirit of Hallloween and all things scary, I've recently found a game worth giving some good spooks. It's Irisu Syndrome!, and it's a freeware PC game. I'll make a bigger post about it once I get a chance to the PC (I've been stuck using the Wii's Opera browser for a while with horrible rechargable batteries that last less than 20 minutes fully charged). I'll delete this post once I start making one for Irisu Syndrome!. Until then, avoid Googling it or looking it up on TvTropes, they usually contain big spoilers on the game's storyline (especially TvTropes' "Darth" version of the game's entry).

Content: Graphic Violence, Disturbing Imagery

From what I hear on doujin forums, this game is one of the most disturbing games around, and so far I'm starting to become a believer (this game was starting to play games with my head). The basic story of Irisu Syndrome!, and the only thing you should know about this game's storyline until you start playing it for yourself (avoid Googling it or looking it up on TV Tropes since they'll spoil the story, trust me on this), revolves around four university students (http://i.imgur.com/9oNBR.jpg) (from left to right), Irisu Kyouko, Edogawa, Uujishima, Ageha, and the events that follow them on their camping trip. One night of their camping trip, Edogawa tells a story/rumor that's been going around of a witch who murders people.

This is a physics-based puzzle game where have you to try and destroy blocks that fall from the screen and earn points. The game has some Tetris elements since blocks fall down and they progressively get faster and more shapes and colors appear as you chain points together. The game is played with a mouse; left-click fires a slow white block and right-click fires a fast gray blocks at the ones falling on screen. The game is over when A) your Life Meter reaches zero or B), blocks pile up to screen that no more can be produced. To really earn points, you must collide blocks of the same color so they break up harmlessly upon landing, and in do so recovers your life meter. Although the real puzzle of this game is the story; as you get higher and higher points, you unlock more pieces of the game's story through still images and the dialogue in them, changes made of a photo of Irisu's classmates, and text files.

An "enhanced" version of this game called Irisu Syndrome! Metsu (いりす症候群! 滅, Irisu Syndrome! Destruction) was later released at Comiket 77 but later became a part of the freeware version as an unlockable side game, with enhanced visuals, updated music, and broaden the storyline. Originally in Japanese, but people at the /jp/ boards made an English patch for the game. If you're into Higurashi, you might like this game. Otherwise, the disturbing stuff that happens might (and probably will) terrify you. Don't say I didn't warn you.

So, I heard Rockman PM likes Team Fortress. Well some cool hipsters made an old school demake of Team Fortress in the form of Team Fortress Arcade. Came out recently. Download it (http://geek.pikimal.com/2011/09/29/team-fortress-arcade-releases-today-download-it-free-now/) and you too can feel like a one hip mista.
I know, that was in bad taste...

Is it visually disturbing? Or just the plot? All I ever liked in Higurashi was the girls, but the plot seemed to suffer from Citizen Kane syndrome and was horribly uninteresting/a waster of time.

Also, is there any fan service?

PS: Note to self: Make sure you actually write the reply AFTER the quote next time.

From what very small tidbits I accidentally read on TV Tropes and screenshots from Google when I first heard of the game's title (this is why I stress NOT to look the game on Google or TV Tropes), it is. Here's a scenario that happened to me the other day when I got an ending around getting 10,000/20,000 pts...
After getting 10,000/20,000 pts, instead of Ageha pondering where everyone went (everyone else went missing over the course of 3 days it seems), Ageha found these notes and a photo of the Edo, Uuji, and herself -- The very same notes and photos the player unlocks over the course of the game. As she was looking through the notes and photo, the killer literally appeared from left side of my screen and slowly approaches Ageha with a bloodied weapon. This scared the crap outta me, despite already seeing it by accident on YouTube. Ageha turns her head to the bizarre presence behind her, the killer attacks her, and the game closes itself. I immediately started the game again, and all of the sudden...

H A P P Y  B I R T H D A Y

It turns out that Edogawa, Uuji, and Irisu snuck up behind her to wish her a happy birthday since it apparently was her birthday. But my instincts are telling me, "Naw, this ain't right. Either the birthday thing was a near-death experience/hallucination or the murderer appearing to kill her was a dream. All I know is that I must press on and score more points to figure out the truth."
Also, no fanservice; strictly a serious plot.

I did not know that Mike Inel makes freeware games (http://gamejolt.com/profile/mike-inel/1939/). Yes, same guy behind these console-tans (http://mikeinel.deviantart.com/gallery/#Console-War) and had a hand on Katawa Shojou's English release. Speaking of which, the English version of Katawa Shojou is out, which does have adult material, but you can censor that out. I'm starting to like this visual novel, wished I had PC freedom to actually play it. :chant:

Poacher (http://fullyramblomatic-yahtzee.blogspot.com/2012/04/poach-harder.html) - A retro-style Metroidvania game from Yahtzee Croshaw starring a big-nosed Yorkshireman with a shotgun. Good fun. Keep in mind there are three endings, the best of which has a secret boss that you'll only see if you're a man of PURE VIRTUE.

Also check out Trilby: The Art of Theft (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/games/yahtzee/artoftheft). Excellent little espionage action game and prequel to 5 Days a Stranger.

Release date: March 30th, 2005
Developer: Studio Trophis (http://www.studiotrophis.com/)
Version: v1.7
Genre: Adventure > Sci-Fi Horror
Content: Violence, Blood and Gore, Strong Language

A point-and-click adventure game about an amnesiac girl who wakes up in a strange coffin aboard an abandoned space station. In her search to find herself, she finds out there's something dark, twisted, and evil going through the hollowed halls. Yes, it has an wannabe art-style (if not Yu-Gi-Oh!-esque) -- done by British indie developers no less -- but the game provides a very ambient and foreboding atmosphere that can suck you in the suspense, and gives off this Silent Hill meets Dead Space vibe as you find out what is going on in the space station. The English voice acting though is rather shoddy (they do have a German voice setting though) and I'm not sure if this was done intentionally bad to like a badly dubbed anime or if the staffers have shoddy voice actors. The game has multiple endings, depending out you handle certain situations.

Release date: February 27th, 2012

Genre: 2D > Adventure > Surreal-horror
Content: Blood (and Gore?)

Ib (pronounced "Eeb," similar to “Eve”) is a recently (by 2012) released game by kouri made with RPG Maker 2000, the same engine used for Yume Nikki and a bunch of other games. The story is about a young girl and her parents going to an art museum to observe the artworks of a surrealism artist known as Guertena featured at the museum. When Ib took a look at some of the artist's work, surprise-surprise, weird (and creepy) begins to happen with your parents are nowhere to be found. The strange phenomenon that is occurring all around Ib is somehow linked to Guertena's work. The game focuses on puzzle-solving and exploring through the bizarre corridors and hallways as try to avoid your untimely demise in the twisted museum.

Release date: N/A
Developer: Parsect Productions
Version: v9.7 (beta as of writing)
Genre: 3D > First-person Survival Horror

An indie game based on The Slender Man Mythos (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos), you play as an ordinary person who was unfortunate enough to be all alone in the woods, with only a flashlight and a camcorder, trying to recover the eight pages of Alex Krailie's notebook. There's no doubt that the game will induce paranoia and suspense as you wander the abandon and empty woods trying to find the pages of the notebook while trying to escape from Slender Man, who becomes aggressively more persistent in hunting you down as you recover more pages. Very chilling stuff.

I love this thread. Keep posting dat freeware. Here's a wild wacky one for y'all:

http://www.oldspicesavestheworld.com/

It's as hilarious and classy as it sounds.

Not sure if I mentioned this game on here yet, but it's also amazing. Props for using a tune from Descent at one point--one of the few exciting ones at that:

Note about the ending & certain easter eggs: don't let it get to you, and don't read too much into it. As far as I'm concerned, it's all in good fun (if a little shocking to the unawares).

Other than that, it's damn near the most inventive and well-made Sonic fangame I've ever played.

EDIT: Okay, two more Sonic games:

Release date: December 11th, 2011 (Ver.1.0)
Developer: Retro Souls
Version: v1.0 (PC)
Genre: Puzzle-platformer

This a puzzle-platformer where you must collect the items scattered through the levels and avoid enemies. However, the twist here is that you control a character who can swap out with his phantom double that mirrors your every move and there's a limited number of times you can do this, depending on the level. The download also has a NES and ZX-Spectrum version included if you use emulators, but if you just want the PC version, there's a mirror below for that. The PC version is also based on the Windows Phone 7 build of the game.

Release date: 2009 (-Leiria-) / 2011 (-Stargazer-)
Developer: NonLinear
Version: v1.01 (-Leiria-) / v1.12 (-Stargazer-)
Genre: Shoot 'em Up, Bullet Hell
Content: Mild Violence

Here are two CAVE-esque shooters that were once retail doujin games that have became officially freeware (I wish more doujin developers do this when their old games if it's not being sold anywhere); Leiria plays sorta like Ketsui (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NCVnX7EjSk) as there is a proximity-based scoring system involved whereas Stargazer -- a remake of The Chaste Full-metal Maiden -Leiria- -- plays more akin to Espgaluda (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_jaMYDvac0).

I think these should make up for the last couple of months.

Iji
(epic screenshots)

Release date: March 11th, 2010 (Ver.1.6)
Developer: Daniel Remar
Genre: Action-Adventure, Metroidvania
Content: Violence, Mild Language

Now changing gears, Iji is a 2D action-adventure game that puts you in the role of the game's titular heroine as she reawakens from an alien invasion by the Tasen that wiped out many of the people working the complex you're trapped in. Some consider this as "the 2D System Shock" as the game feature RPG elements that lets you decide how you want to develop Iji's skills and abilities, such as hacking, weapon proficiency, and your overall strength. There is also a moral aspect that comes into play that can impacts the story, whether if you decide to take down Tasen in cold blood, or take the pacifist approach and working something out without resorting to violence.

Download Iji (http://www.remar.se/daniel/iji.php) Check out Daniel Remar's other games at http://www.remar.se/daniel/games.php.
[tornado fang] YEAH IJI. My second favorite Game Maker game right behind Artillery F. Nice to see this game put out there!
And wow is it a long time since I last saw Garden Gnome Carnage.

Not sure it that's sarcasm or a complement. Either way, there are other sites that can do better coverage on indie games than I can do.

Thanks but I screwed up on a bunch of areas in my post, since my brother got home at the worst time, I couldn't double-check for any mistakes, the worst being that I messed up the link for Leiria -Stargazer- (don't how that happened when pretty sure I copied [Crtl+C] the right link). I fixed most of the mistakes with Xbox IE, but now I have wait until I use the computer again to fix the link. Ugh!

Oddly enough, Garden Gnome Carnage is on Xbox LIVE Indie Games, but of course, you do have to pay for it; the game is $1 though.

-EDIT-
Okay I am up 1:40 AM fixing my previous post (http://forum.rockmanpm.com/index.php?topic=254.msg379033#msg379033). Also, would it be bad to share downloads of Streets of Rage Remake v4/5 considering Sega C&D the developers?

I'll third Iji, the graphics put me off at first but the gameplay (deliberately slow, like Castlevania) and story work great. And the music.

I've been playing Conclave (http://www.playconclave.com) lately.  It's a free online turn-based RPG.  The screens take a bit to load sometime, and unless you have a player order determined, you might end up conflicting with other members of your party by trying to take your turn at the same time, but I've been having fun with it.  I'm currently a level 3 Mezoar Runecaster.  If Ringman and I are online and playing, feel free to join Lizardon's party.  We could use the help. XD

Strip Em All (http://www.athleticarcade.com/stripemall/index.html), the funnily named psychology puzzle game.
Basically, what you have is a comic that you need to match to the title, which is along the theme of some psychological issue.
Like, in The Narcissist you have to change the panels by clicking objects and dragging panels around until you have a comic with a guy who is clearly narcissistic.

Seems straightforward but gets tricky fast with changing panels affecting other panels depending on placement...

Here's the challenge:

I'm looking for a free online browser game with the following features:

Co-op turn-based dungeon-crawler RPG.

What can you recommend?

What happened to Conclave? From what I've seen it seemed to fit those categories pretty well. Did it go all freemium on you?

Wow, that was a lucky guess that I didn't expect to be right. :o

Strangely enough, I've tossed around the concept of a co-op turn-based game ever since I made that Father's Day present for my dad. Could they really be in any kind of demand?

I never expected this game would finally hit PC (though I always wanted it to), even less expected for it to be given out free. For those that never heard of this game, it was an Xbox 360-exclusive title that can be summed up as "Super Metroid meets G.I. Joe written by Orson Scott Card" as you collect various hi-tech equipment while trying to stop an a organization called the Restoration trying to bring to their own idea of a new age for America as well as the world and they also kidnapped your girlfriend because video games. The game has obvious inspiration from Super Metroid as many of your upgrades resemble Samus' such as speedboosting, freezing mooks with some kind of crystalizing foam (then they can be shattered to pieces with explosives, figuratively speaking), a grappling hook that is akin to the Grappling Beam, a big world explore, a bunch of loot to collect, and more. It takes it also has some RPG elements where fighting goons gives you experience to level up your character and become a bigger badass for subsequent playthrough, as well as challenges to test your wits and abilities. The Remastered version aims to not only spruce up the visuals but also add more content to the game. Here's a sample of the original Xbox 360 version. (https://youtu.be/Gc49PhzeZkY) Don't have a decent gaming rig? No sweat, the game is coming to Xbone and PlayStation 4 as well, so finally the PlayStation crowd can get their hands it.
Though I reckon you get the PC version anyway in case you upgrade your hardware while it's free.

Get the game here! https://www.epicgames.com/shadowcomplex/ (https://www.epicgames.com/shadowcomplex/)

Fair warning: the process can be lengthy to get the Epic Games Launcher installed to get the game; it took almost same amount of time of me writing this post while everything installs. I'll be back fam to let ya'll know how this game runs on my PC.

-EDIT-
Welp, thanks to something on Epic's end — I'm assuming heavy traffic or somebody's not doing their job — I'm having problems trying to use the damn launcher, the game can't be run without it. To make matters worse, when I tried to reinstall the thing, it deleted my installation. This game really needs DRM removal or a GOG.com release ASAP.

Well technically not a C&D but yeah.

I've seen some people questioning whether that was legitimate.  The lawyer's name is unknown and false DMCA claims are a lot easier to hand out than a false C&D, and Nintendo isn't exactly known for being shy about handing out C&Ds.  Also apparently it's usually NCL that does that, whereas this DMCA claim is alleged to be from NOA.

Ah well, I figured something would likely go haywire so I made sure to download the game promptly.

It turns Nintendo's DMCA claim (http://techraptor.net/content/nintendo-hits-metroid-2-fan-remake-dmca) was legit after all, and all downloads from the developer's website and Metroid Database were taken down. *sigh* -AC
welp, backing it up, SoRR style.

A follow up on the DMCA takedown and possibily plans to update/patch to the game in private: [link] (http://nintendonews.com/news/general/am2r-creator-outlines-future-plans/)
