a bunch of Udon's Megaman Tribute Submissions

BTW, Someone tell me if they see X in Dickman's pic. He says he's in there, but I dont see him.

I know it's near impossible to tell with that microscopic file size, but I assume that it's his figure blasting somebody up towards the top, on what I assume is supposed to be the Gesellschaft; the only character right above Tornado Man. Kinda looks like him to me at least. I could be way wrong though.

Also, many of these winning entries not posted in this thread as of yet have kinda made me sad and sick to my stomach for many of the losers, as much as I would like to completely respect UDON/Capcom's choices.

I also like how they said in the rules specifically not to use another artist's style, such as Ariga's (who was specifically brought up to Moylan and was part of the no-no list related to comics/manga/animated series), and yet here we have a winner with characters drawn in Ariga-style, but it was apparently totally OK because in the end Ariga did something for the book... -AC Not that I don't like the pic, but still.

Congrats.
Also happy B-day Miyabi..I guess.
...You guess?

YOU GUESS??!!  ;O;

Yeah, that's basically how I feel about turning a year older anyhow. I'm sick, still went to work and it was rough, and the day has mostly sucked in general. Thanks for the birthday wishes, Blackhook. :)

EXE / Re: Mega Man Battle Network OCW

So... is it really out?
Amazon says it's still not.
Udon is silent.
Please not be another delay. D :

Ash or Matt have said in the past that the comic book stores get their stuff on the specific release day, and that online retailers like Amazon usually follow a few days later. It's more a distribution thing than an actual delay in the release. So even though Amazon is still showing that it hasn't released, they should be getting their shipment soon enough.

Of course I'll be grabbing this, even though I have the Japanese version. But I think I'm holding off until the Robot Master Field Guide releases in the next month, or perhaps even waiting until May to get it with Gigamix. Just because I usually batch my Amazon orders to keep the free shipping. That, and my current order of a PS3, FF13 and Dissidia Duodecim cost me enough that Amazon doesn't need any more money from me right now... XD

Did all the pages with LoN/PoN make it to the English edition? Cause that fullpage of Trojan Horse is da bomb.

I would hope there were no cuts, even if those games never made it to the US. They didn't cut the Super Adventure Rockman page out of the Classic OCW, so I assume those shouldn't have gotten the axe, either.

This just in: UDON warns of yet another delay. Is the Mayan Calendar to blame?  :O More at 10 O'Clock.

I'm mean.

To be fair, over at dA, I did read an UDON member mention that on top of having to sort through and discuss the merit of those 2000+ entries, the ones they chose do have to be approved by both Capcom US and Capcom Japan. Sooo, if as usual they are seeing overseas delays in getting response in time, I have a feeling they don't have everything ready to announce or email people yet. Back for the Darkstalkers Tribute book, they posted a journal at dA with the names of every winner, so I am just going to assume they will use the same courtesy for this one. Until I see at least one person journal something about winning, or see an official post from UDON, I'm not going to hold my breath thinking they've got everything selected. Too many people jumped the gun and assumed an UDON deadline would stand firm; again no offense to them, but we all saw it coming. Especially if there were additional Copryright/publishing hurdles.

@Blackhook: I've hardly seen any ZX, in terms of early leaks. And I'm kinda surprised there's been more Zero than X. I think Classic will take it, followed by Zero, X, Legends and finally ZX. With a handful of multi-series crossovers thrown in, like I attempted.

Um....

As much as I'd love to be all hyped up, too, doesn't the fact that the albums are listed as arranged by Joe Shwebke and Klub Konchadunga raise red flags to ANYONE else? I mean, sure, if it was a fun fake, they obviously forgot to throw Uematsu in the mix to make it seem totally unreasonable. And a lack of Ippo Yamada is curious enough.

But really...am I the only one who sees it's a fan album with credit to the composers whose songs they plan to tackle? And that the XA album isn't necessarily Mega Man-only music?

I mean, look at how Joshua Morse's Megaman 5 album is listed on that site as well. Notice how it's also composed by Mari Yamaguchi? Doesn't mean she did anything for the album in question. Same way for DMC's Megalomania. They're crediting the composers of the original tracks. They are not saying those people are contributing new music/arrangements.

Oh, you guys and your early April Fools pranks. This soooo~ tops last year's, Jer Bear. 8D

...and Goofyxl is not called Dogxl, if there's MegaMOUSE X, instead of MegaMICKEY/MICKEYman X?

Things to ponder.
Because anyone who ever watched Goof Troop knows Goofy's last name is Goof, so it would totally be Goofxl if you wanted to continue the 'last name' trend. But if you wanted to stick to his more classic last name, since he was originally known as Dippy Dawg, he'd be American Idol's Randy Jackson's favorite character, Dawgxl, dawg.

But I digress, have some pics:

Rockman Series / Re: MM Art Request thread.
« on: December 04, 2010, 03:56:28 AM »
And I love how most of my posts (on this entire forum) are mostly from this thread, and they consist only of fulfilling requests.  8D

So it is what it is, give the kid a break. After all, this is one of the few places, in our community at least, that actually get results and spreads the art around. That's what this thread is for.

I'm always around, Gigaxel. Even if I'm not posting, I am here daily. I'm just back to lurking in the shadows mode because I'm wasting all my freetime gaming. That's all.

Your wish is granted. So let it be done:

Maybe it's just because you'd expect certain artists' styles to work better for different series, but yeah, most of these designs just don't scream Legends to me. The only girl that really appeals to me is Ishikawa's, and of course obviously it's the style which is influencing me. But I do like that rebellious, retro-50's look to her. Sensei's would be my second choice, but seriously, she'd be better suited as a Tomahawkman.EXE Net Op. more than anything. And Komaki's at least shows some originality.

But otherwise, Kaji's is just Meiru, Inafune's is a rejected Roll concept, Yoshikawa's is Legend Master Shin and Harp Note's secret lovechild (er, yeah, that's a little creepy...), Nakayama's belongs in Zero, Higurashi's in ZX, and Ito's is just...meh.

So yeah, as long as either Ishikawa or Sensei's version wins, we all win by getting a girl who will have a better shot at good dirty art eventually. 8D

EXE / Re: Wasted Potential
« on: July 26, 2010, 04:57:24 AM »
speaking of Zero EXE... I know I havent watched much of Plus, but how exactly did he warp to the real world with Zero One? From what I saw, there were no dimensional generator things
Unfortunately I don't get to edit those couple episodes, and I also haven't watched them in a while, so I can't say for certain.

But I can say that in one of the episodes I did, Enzan clearly states that viruses infected with the Zero virus get the ability to materialize in the real world. So without watching Ep. 18 again, I'd just have to assume that Zero was able to do as he pleased and willed himself into the real world. It's one of his magic plot-worthy powers.

News and Announcements / Capcom-Unity Contest the Third
« on: July 02, 2010, 03:38:47 AM »
Well, this one isn't completely Mega Man related. But enough of it is. And it involves another rare Mega Man prize, so that makes it newsworthy.

After holding two recent batches of fanart contests focusing solely on a certain series (Classic and Zero), things are getting mixed up a bit over at Capcom Unity. Now it's time for some creative crossovers.

Being called "Worlds of Capcom," the only requirements for this contest are that you create some type of NEW art that contains some kind of Capcom-series crossover. All characters in your pic must be property of Capcom. And preferably be PG-13 in content.

There will be multiple winners again, as chosen by Capcom employees from the US, Europe and Japan. Prizes seem to have something in common: autographs. From the rules page, they include: "a Mega Man t-shirt signed and drawn on by Inafune-san, an autographed (by Inafune-san) Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun movie script (this is pending), an autographed copy of Monster Hunter Tri (signed by the producer and director), RE5 poster signed by the dev team, and MORE."

The deadline for this contest is Monday, July 12th, at 9 AM PST. As usual, send a link to your entry to jgonzo with the subject "Capcom Worlds Fan Art" and a short description of what your pic is all about. Only one submission per person.

http://hic.elementfx.com/download.php

Don't worry, Miyabi. I understand everything you said, but still... after such a long time of NO SUBS for big part of the show... I think I can be a bit grumpy about it. : P

Anyway, in the link above you'll find out who's subbing Stream. They have episodes from 5-18 right now.
They translated from chinese raws, which apparently aren't that different from japanese, but the subs are timed and put on japanese raws.
I haven't yet seen how good their translations are, but I'm planning to soon.
Enjoy.

I know, you and others are entitled to be; and it's not like I wouldn't love to see them done quicker, if not finished by now. But at the same time when you're a part of it, you kinda see why it takes so long. Just offering some insight was all. It's kinda hard to take all the anger and whining when we do the work for free and use up our free time to try to benefit the community.

The link didn't work for me at first, but now that they're up I downloaded one episode (#7) and also read through the script available. And now I see why Ryouko called it laughably bad. The scripts even leave out some locations and just put random "somethings" in parenthesis.

"and can be drive on very treacherous roads..."
"top of there class..."
"[some other name] and [another name]"

I can give the person credit for doing it all on their own, and being ambitious enough to try, but when you totally leave out something you can't understand, even something as little as a name, it just looks way too rushed and amateurish.

And that's just some of the things in the first 2 minutes or so. Ouch. -AC Is it crucial info? Not always. But I'd rather have it right over rushed like that any day.

67
Oh, great. They finished subbing the worst series.
yay

: P

There's already someone subbing Stream, and a group who subs Axess again from the beginning(I can't see what's the point).

Why can't people just start subbing and finish this [parasitic bomb]? Seriously.

Still, this is kinda nice, and gives a bit of hope for the future. : > Thanks for the info, Miyabi.

Who's subbing Stream? Years ago when we had a discussion in the anime and manga section, some startup group began it, but their translations and edits were so laughable and terribly off, and there was so much drama over why they tried subbing them in the first place, that I thought it died. And DATS was going to as well, but that went poof and didn't take off. Beast+ was also dropped by them.

And I've said this before, but our community isn't large enough with enough of a fanbase to get enough people both talented and willing to get it done in a quick and reasonable time like some other fandoms. Most of us with Puku are in our mid-to-late 20's and have a busy enough life that we don't have all the time in the world to work on these things with jobs and other things. That seriously has been the biggest holdup. Coming home after 9 hours of work to do more work isn't exactly what I love doing, even if it is fun to see the scripts to these episodes which haven't been translated by anybody. But I have no Japanese knowledge other than picking up a few words from watching subs/etc.

Most of our scripts were translated by a fellow who is Japanese, but wasn't the most fluent in English. So a lot of my work is deciphering and rephrasing things, and I have little backup to turn to if I have a question about accuracy. So there can be times of constant back and forth to make sure my edits aren't butchering the actual translation, while still making it read as conversational English. You should see how marked up my scripts are. XD I don't always just turn in a single revision, and sometimes have to re-watch and redo my edits upwards of 12 times until the whole script is clean enough. And then after I'm done, someone like Ryouko or Izumi will do a quality check of my edits, since they actually have Japanese knowledge. It's not just a wham-bam-thank-you-m'aam one-day process. If I get two scripts done in a week, that's pretty good considering my schedule. Right now I'm at least doing what I can to get at least one done every week again. But of course that means other things like my art/gaming/personal fun time have to suffer.

68
No, I'm part of Puku. WPP is a separate group; none of us from Puku are really members of WPP. But some of their members have been just as active with us in this project, such as Izumi, Gaia and Pokerdog. I did edit like 2 Axess episodes...I forget which ones, but it was in that 29-32 range...when I offered help a year or two ago. But it wasn't as a member of WPP. It was just to help when I didn't have Beast stuff to edit.

Actually, the only reason I ever signed up on any of the boards in the community was because I answered Ryouko's ad for an editor at REO when they started subbing Beast. If not, I might still be a lurker or never would have participated in a lot of the things I have over the years.

And as far as Axess, as I hinted, there might be news soon...but I'm not really in the know to really let you know.  8)

News and Announcements / Rockman.EXE Beast Subbed Finale Released!
« on: June 26, 2010, 06:16:48 AM »
I'm sure there may be a lot of you who wondered if certain Rockman anime fansubs would ever be completed. After all, it's been about 9 months since an episode has been released by anyone in the community. And the EXE anime itself has now been off the air for 4 years. We can all understand people's frustrations about the whole process, but are grateful for those who have been patient enough to stick around to see a series finished off.

So that's why I'm making a short little public service announcement today to let you all know that the final three episodes of Rockman.EXE Beast have been released by Puku Anime fansubs in joint cooperation with WolfPackProductions!! You can download the newly released episodes 23-25, along with any others you have missed, from the tracker HERE.

To continue on with the good news, all of us on the team have been working a bit harder as of late and our progress on the Beast+ series is moving along at a rapid pace. Over half the series has been edited, and many episodes are already being prepped for release as well. The plan is to release all of those episodes in higher-quality MKV files. Keep an eye on things within the next two weeks for a few more pleasant surprises...  ;)

And if things continue to run smoothly, the plan is to help out with Stream once Beast+ is wrapped up. Episodes are currently being translated, so work actually has begun on that series as well.

Enjoy!

ZX / Re: The Official English Mega Man ZX manga
« on: June 14, 2010, 11:02:02 PM »
I wonder if the ZX Advent manga will come over here as well?
While the ZXA manga was serialized in whatever monthly magazine it got published in, I don't think it was ever compiled into an actual manga in Japan. So if they don't have it in book form, I don't think there's any chance of it making it Stateside first. I think Ogino still drew the ZXA one, so perhaps good sales of Udon's translation could help that cause. But I wouldn't get your hopes up. But since you made mention of it, it might be a good question to ask Matt Moylan at TMMN. I might actually do that...

I know Rad's fighting against the pressure and all, but after these last few hints, there's no turning back. Traveling down this musical highway, we're close to the end of the road once we turn off on the last exit. Don't let Talyn's fun become nothing but an abandoned memory. So get going and mix that music like a Dr. Wily Stage Boss. 8B

73
I didn't forget, I was just too tired to care to update. And dealing with something elsewhere, to boot. It's not like I demanded being the one to update with results all the time.  XD

I thought Wave and hj's were the most deserving, so I'm glad one of them took this week. But yeah, taking my own out of consideration, I feel bad for some of the pieces that didn't get a true honorable mention, while others that did weren't quite up to the same level, IMO. Like Asena implied, some of these weeks have just come across as the most random, odd judging. Suppose I would understand more if there was a more set criteria of what they were looking for.

I almost would be for something more like the NFL Pro Bowl voting, in which voting is taken publicly, by managers, and by the players themselves, and then it's all averaged out. It'd be kinda cool to see the next one split that way, with a public vote, a Capcom vote, and an entrant vote, just to see what the results would bring.

Rockman Series / Re: MM Art Request thread.
« on: June 10, 2010, 03:29:48 AM »
They should all be easy to tell from the filenames. The first two come from the first Rockman manga, 3 and 4 come from Rockman World 3, 5 and 6 come from Rockman 4, and the last one is from Rockman 6 Volume 1. I usually always try to incorporate that in any of my scan's filenames.

Rockman Series / Re: MM Art Request thread.
« on: June 09, 2010, 10:36:46 PM »
Thanks!

It's not an official 4-Koma book like the Classic, X7 or Legends compilation books. This is just a single small doujin by Coo. It's only a good 16 pages or so. The only EXE doujinshi I own. Personally, when I saw Pride and Dingo on the cover, I was hoping they, along with Knight and Tomahawk, might have some page time. Little, really. It's pretty lacking in substance, and without the dialog context, I didn't find many of them that amusing. Covers are always so misleading!!

Pages: 1 2 3 4 5 ... 19
