Huh. Well it is what it is, and that wraps up the main series. Fans are absolutely roasting Capcom over on their Facebook page. But at most, it's a little underwhelming. At its core, these are time-tested games that have loads of replay value and play time to them. All for a price that can't be beat.

While expectations may have been a little high (especially when comparing to the Anniversary Collection), it's still a worthy console port. But dear god, stay away from any iOS/Android ports

I knew I was forgetting an obscure original series game. That's another one that got stupid expensive in recent years. Like really stupid. But the fact that they left off RockBoard from the original Legacy Collection doesn't give me much hope for games that aren't part of the main series.

It's confirmed, sort of
http://www.rockman-corner.com/2017/04/mega-man-legacy-collection-2-leaked-by.html

I recall a very lukewarm reception to the original Legacy Collection due to a general lack of interest from the hardcore fans. Personally, I didn't really care because I didn't need any of those games that were all fairly popular and reasonably easy to get ahold of on their own. But the Legacy Collection 2 offers more of an incentive; retail versions of Mega Man 9 and 10 (I'm a sucker for physical media). Additionally, one game I never picked up at the time that I'm kicking myself over is the Saturn version of Mega Man 8. If that's included, that would sweeten the deal exponentially.

Furthermore, with the comments on Facebook, I'm seeing a lot of people clamoring for the Super Nintendo version of Mega Man & Bass, again that would be another exclusive that will pique the interest of the longtime fan. In addition, people are talking about the arcade games and Battle & Chase and whatnot.

I'll be interested to see what becomes of this. If it's just released as is with four games, that'd be acceptable, if a little meager. But I hope there's a little bit more added.

The graphics themselves are fine, but you do get the infamous "jail bars" on flatscreen displays due to the coaxial input. But when you're playing on a CRT, it's not noticeable. If you're going for quality when upscaling, the original toaster is the best way to go. Only a few aftermarket systems are able to get comparable quality.

I don't think there's ever been so many console variants as with the original Nintendo Entertainment System, which includes the numerous cheap-o clone consoles. Though it's not surprising considering how unreliable the original model was known to be.

For me, the redesigned top loader has worked the best for me and is my go-to system for playing games without a fuss. I know it's sacrilege, but I also prefer the look to the toaster.

What works best for you guys?

Mega Man II for Game Boy. Underrated title and a great time waster (and unfortunately the only Mega Man game I brought back to school with me). Though after a recent play through, it glitched out and Wily just left the game completely.

Oh it was just for the first game? I guess I'm the minority that doesn't care about the VC. My Game Boy still works fine.

Never really got this. Why not just release it chronologically like the NES titles on the Virtual Console? Can people really not wait to play Mega Man V?

Funny enough, I did pick up Mega Man II (Game Boy) and from there, I just had to pull the NES out again.

When did the site crash again? I can faintly remember him on the old forum, but he either registered again under a different name or just didn't come back.

Every time I go on a Mega Man binge, I find myself back here. Weird.

Honestly, the Classic series only got serious about plot around the time of Mega Man 7. Before that, it was all pretty lighthearted chapters done in a serial fashion. The X series, however, had a pretty serious plot from the beginning. As incompatible as they may seem, I think it is important to still consider them in the same universe. Good read, Zan.

Quint is still a big mystery. We were never given a definitive answer to his story after his defeat (but not death) at the hands of modern Mega Man. Regardless of the game's prevalence in the series, this is crucial, as it's the future of Mega Man himself. Either Capcom's forgotten about it, or they're waiting to spring a big one on us (not counting on it). Wily has made multiple copies of him (Mega Man V), and we should assume only a copy was destroyed in that instance.

The time machine itself is also something big that's barely expanded upon. While we can guess that it's reused for The Wily Wars, it's hard to imagine that Wily would only use it for just those two occasions. Presenting my own far-out theory, I'd say that old Wily could have possibly retired from his evil ways before passing on, while the current Wily is the one influencing the events of the X series through time travel behind the scenes.

Sorry for bringing this thread back, but I just remembered something of relevance.

Remember Mega Man? The ORIGINAL on the NES? Gamers today may know that it's pretty hard-to-find game, and this normally happens to games that didn't do so hot during its original run (of course fan demand has also made it more valuable). The thing is, Mega Man's poor sales would have made Capcom forget about it and move on, however it was fan reception that made Capcom give the Blue Bomber a second chance. With a lot on the line, and a potential disaster, Mega Man 2 was released. I think we all know the rest.

The point is; listen to the fans. You've got an overwhelmingly large number of people who want this game released. Though the time between Mega Man and Mega Man 2 is a lot different than the span between Legends 2 and [what would be] 3, it's all the same. It's late, I hope that all made sense.

Debating whether to buy a brand new Sega 32X for $25. From what I've heard, it doesn't have the best library (unless anyone cares to prove me wrong). Even so, I may just resell it for the collectable value.  >BD

That's their way of saying "there's probably going to be continuity errors, but just ignore it."

Can you believe the balls that Morgan Webb and Adam Sessler of G4's Xplay have? They have the odacity to say nobody cared about Megaman Legends 3, all whilst after reading an email from an upset fan on the air.
I can understand why they said that, but I'm still going to say it's not true. Sure, it's become more popular after the cancellation, but there was still a lot of hype to begin with. People were thrilled that a long-dead, yet classic, series would finally get a new sequel. We had little reason to doubt Capcom, as even most fans thought it was an impossible endeavor previous to the announcement.

Though, fans are definately more upset after the announcement, as opposed to had it never been announced. Capcom told us it might not happen, but the reason everyone was mad is that they didn't even try (cancelling the prototype edition).

Captain America exceeded my expectations. The WWII atmosphere was great, so was the references to the other Marvel movies. All I can say is, after a string of killer movies, The Avengers now has a massive amount of hype behind it.

I expect the new Spider-Man to be mostly eye candy, and little more. It looks like they're trying to take a different route from what we already saw in the Raimi series, but that's gonna be hard to do. I'm still interested in it out of curiousity, though.

Japan still has better Mega Man promotion than everywhere else, has always HAD better promotion, and probably always will.
You've also got to consider the fan base there.

I'm assuming it's all canon. The alternate worlds thing was just an excuse for any inconsistancies it would have with the console releases, which was fairly minimal.

It's hard to say which came first, but the time machines in both games are different. Mega World features one of Wily's own design, capable of altering the past and thus repeating the first three games. World 2 features one stolen from an unnamed time institute, which can only travel back and forth to a certain unspecified future date.
World 2 must've come first, seeing as the technology was new. Once he experimented, he must've been able to make one on his own. I remember a description where the World 2 one was only able to go in the future, so that's why I think the Wily Wars plot is an answer to that.

In that sense, it might work. Not really an error, but funny that it's Mega Man who supposedly kills Wily.

Though speaking of World 2, that was the first time Dr. Wily used time travel (not being able to go into the past yet). Could that be related to the Wily Wars time travel plot?

It seems like it was originally made to go with the main series, but took on a life of its own.

Though you're right, they can fit in, I guess that's the best way to go about it. I still do have problems with World 2, though.
