Title: Megaman: Turbo
Post by: MexicanSunflower on December 25, 2009, 05:18:17 AM
I've been developing a fangame called Megaman Turbo for a month or two now. I don't have a whole lot to show other than a few songs, some gameplay footage, and a few pictures, but hopefully some of you guys will track my progress  8)

Anyhow, here's some links you can all check out:

enjoy not having s1e11, and the galactus ep.

Don't remind me. X( Blasted Buena Vista. >_< I can't remember what they did to make Marvel so peeved, but it's rather inconvenient.

Now, the mole people episode, I could do without, but removing the Galactus episode makes one of the continuity nods not make any sense.

At least, Disney's buying of Marvel will fix things (hopefully '>.>)...

Going back on topic. What do you think of MS' stuff so far?

Well, I can't remember the last time I've seen that one, to be honest. '>.> Or any of the episode, for that matter (it's been a long time).

Did season 3 come out yet?

Anyways, let's just stay on topic. -u-'

I was keeping my eyes on this one. Wow and now you joined RPM. Now, starsims, you and megaphilx is here.
Storm Man stage tiles should be remade though. Reusing sprites from other games are lazy for my eyes. Sorry. I love the song though.
I can help you with sprites if you want  ;). Check my game and sprite threads too.

I would have to agree with this.

When it comes to MM fan games, I encourage people using as little recycling as possible, in order to bring some fresh content and nice concepts.

Looking good there. :)
So how is Proto Man fully playable? Does bullets bounce off his shield? Does he do most of the things he does in MM9? Or is he just a character swap of mega man?

Which is actually one of the reasons I migrated over here, to see if I could get some spriting help from people who get Megaman tiles down to almost a science  8)

Well, how delightful. The RPM's spriters are getting notoriety already! 8)

That said, if there's any group that can steer you in the right direction, you can go no further than RPM's. Zan alone is very knowledgeable about 8-bit graphics.

Metal that rusts. How is that a hard theme to represent? We're not talking about Gemini Man, here. >U<

It is hard for me to represent a rusty theme within NES limits and lack of proper brown tones.

Not too shabby of a stage, there. The oil slicks are a nice touch, adding a bit of a challenge, while introducing another type of slippery surface.

At any rate, I'm looking forward to seeing the Rust Man, himself.

9th Robot Master Concept "Boss Man": (http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6452/dsc00333a.jpg)

Title: Re: Megaman: Turbo
Post by: KudosForce on January 09, 2010, 03:37:08 AM
Interesting concepts, I have to say. Is Boss Man a hidden RM, ala Yoku Man?

Also, does Circuit Man have any legs?
Title: Re: Megaman: Turbo
Post by: KudosForce on January 09, 2010, 03:51:04 AM
Yeah, Boss Man will probably be the 9th robot master, but he will be either unlockable through achievements, or through DLC.

I see. At any rate, the motif used for him is rather unique; a gangster. It's a wonder that no one came up with something like that yet.

Quote
He was originally designed to have no legs and was attached to the wall with a long cable, but I'm considering changing that and just letting him have legs.

Good call on that. Him having no legs would be a tad awkward, for a RM...

Wow, they look different compared to any Robot Master from Capcom (Originality, a good point  >w< )
But look at the common RM eyes:

Do keep in mind that some RMs have human-styled eyes, as well (e.g. Magma Man).

On a side note, I think that the name of Acid's Storm Man could always be changed to "Twister Man", to avoid confusion. I'll ask him that, later on.

Looks interesting  :)

Only the sprites of those RMs look little too big in terms of height, but I guess that was intentional.
And I like Bossman, original idea xD

Keep up the good work  8)

And I am not really great in making sprites, but if you want, I can help.

Aww, thanks lass! *hugs* It was annoying that my original gif was a tad too large for the minimum avatar size for this forum, it shrunk it down just a tad and made it fuzzy. Thanks for the fix.

Back on topic. I'm glad that you're creating Yoku Spikes. I hope the gimmick will continue in other fangames or even in official Mega man games if they see them. For a while now I've been pondering over something. I'm tempted to make Yoku Man open source once MMU is out, so that people could be welcome to use him in their own fangames too. I would love for him to be a staple of Mega Man fangames, a secret boss who makes several appearances in the fangame community.

I would love for him to be a staple of Mega Man fangames, a secret boss who makes several appearances in the fangame community.

Incidentally, I kinda want Gatuca to do something similar with Pop (AKA Virtual Man), whose "Chew Toy (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheChewToy)" status would easily allow him to make "guest" appearances in other MM fan games (as he considers himself to be a "superhero", thus mistaking people for villains). [eyebrow]

At any rate, while seeing other secret bosses would do for a bit of variety (e.g. MexicanSunFlower's Boss Man), having Yoku Man make guest appearances in other MM fan games, ala Akuma, would be interesting (even though I clearly think that MMU should be his only appearance). He'd be like the Jason or Freddy Krugger of the MM world; a guy that you just can't get rid of, no matter how many times you kill him.

It's not bad, I must say. I like the subtle details that you have given to Ballistics Man. :)

I first learned of this project when Danooct posted his Scuba Man arrangement. I've been following it since. Good stuff all around.

Circuit Man's theme is good, too. Like the Spark Man influence. :)

Also, as a side note, I took a look at some of the instruments on your Title Theme on the FamiTracker forums that you recently posted and mimicked them for the pieces that I've completed thus far on Stardius' fan game. I just didn't know how to get the Mega Man feel and that certainly helped. Hope you don't mind!

The Jewel Man "tink" sound effects kind of sound out of place at points, but there is definitely a similarity to Jewel Man's theme throughout Sarge Man's theme all around.

Your sprite doesn't look bad, as well, but maybe you should try to minimize his lightning effects a little bit. I used to draw a lot of shiny spots for my sprites, too, but it looks less crammed if you do not do it =)

Depending on how things go, there may be some new ones, as a few of MMT's RMs seem suitable enough for MM:TT2.

But no worries! You can be certain that the old ones will still be used (only, they'll obviously get some makeovers). 8)
