Quote
Puzzling results from Cern, home of the LHC, have confounded physicists - because it appears subatomic particles have exceeded the speed of light.

The result - which threatens to upend a century of physics - will be put online for scrutiny by other scientists.

"We tried to find all possible explanations for this," said report author Antonio Ereditato of the Opera collaboration.

"We wanted to find a mistake - trivial mistakes, more complicated mistakes, or nasty effects - and we didn't," he told BBC News.

"When you don't find anything, then you say 'Well, now I'm forced to go out and ask the community to scrutinise this.'"

Light is the fastest form of transportation... I wonder how this would work, exactly.

I'm calling scientific error.

So it's basically Warp 2 speed.

Neat.

...that's exactly what they have just disproven. Light is no longer the fastest form of transportation.

Very fascinating news... Albeit shocking.
If the scientific community can't disprove this... As stated, the whole foundation of modern physics... Just... POOF

What I played: LHC
What I thought I was getting: Microsingularities
What I got: Subatomic particles exceeding the speed of light

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Since when was light a mode of transport? I saw it more as a potential medium for relaying information.

Also, wasn't there something like this before? I thought quarks could always travel at ludicrous speed.

There is a theoretically sound concept for such a device on wikipedia.
The problem is just how to do it, and the fact that once you start it you can't stop...

Hope that knowledge is from the book! Too few people read it nowadays. It and 1984 are pretty much companion pieces which deserve attention.

Because I'm a savage who gloriously screws around with soma-driven females lost in the wilderness.

All this time, and it's still the book that better describes our society as a whole. Dystopia not forced on us, but that we want.
