When did I say otherwise...? All i said was that he's just showing a hell of a lot more creativity and innovation with Mega Man than capcom.you and me both.

Was just giving you something to think about.

I hear a voice in my head telling me I need to finish re-spriting the Mavericks.

How could he disappoint? from the very first post he made he was already presenting far better material than Capcom.
Without Capcom, JKB wouldn't have Megaman X to make a fangame of. I think Capcom deserves a little credit.

Whoa. That is officially my favorite track of the entire game I've heard yet. You really got an awesome composer.  8)

I have a guided feeling that Hurricane Hoatzin's sprite was based HIGHLY off of Storm Eagle.  [eyebrow]

Fixed the star pack.
Somewhat, anyway. It looks good to me.

EDIT:
I'm 16, so you are indeed older than I.

No, no. I think I rather impressed him with my F. Starfish sprite. At the very least, I don't think he had any problems with it.

The reason I was assigned to other tasks is because, not all of the level design is complete. He needs tiles for other parts of the levels.
It seems he's completing the world before doing anything with the mavericks.

He said I could work on the Mavericks, or the tiles. But I chose tiles as a shot in the dark because I thought it would be more useful to him.
In the  end, I think I wasted his time.

1. VirusX is a secret I guess, okay lets leave it at that.
Actually, he might just be too disappointed in me to feel like mentioning me.  -u-'

About the boss sprites, well. I don't know what's going to happen about this. JKB says he does not need them right now.
So I was going to do some other things for them, but I've been a bit... Struggling over these newly-assigned tasks.
Plus it's been like a month since I last showed him any progress, so if he is mad, he would have every reason to.

Juuuust saying. I'm not a secret much, really.

And JKB, sorry for taking so long. But I'm not that good at tiles, so I don't think you're missing out, much. You saw my work, right? It wasn't that great, and needed a lot of correcting.
I was going to update, but it's been so long, I don't think you'd want to see them anymore.
Though you probably are anyway, I sincerely hope you're not mad at me.

EDIT:
As for the boss sprites, I am definitely capable of doing those. If you want to dis-include me from the project for blowing off my responsibilities, well.
But if you still have a little bit of faith in me, I'm still willing to do your boss-sprites when the time you need them arises.
If not, I understand.

Once again, sorry.

Well, all I can draw right now is the floating pose.

I think I know what weapon F. Starfish uses, but I'm not sure how JKB wants it drawn.

Posted on: January 01, 2011, 08:12:31

Remade the pose.

And you know what, I don't need to know any of the boss' moves. Just explain the poses and I'll draw them. I'll draw the effects too.
*Edit*

This maverick is a royal pain in the ass to sprite. Who made the design on this guy, anyway?

So how about it? I'll start with the smallest, most detailed boss first. Which would appear to be Force Starfish.

I assume Force Starfish has a nova strike of some sort.
I'll probably throw away the current sprite and remake the pose you have going there.
Describe, or illustrate (with stickmen, if it's not too much trouble) what kind of moves and movements he has, and I'll get to work right away if you want me to.
*Edit*

I bet I could get all the bosses done in a few weeks. While you're working on the pause screen, and various other things.  '>.>

The Pause Menu is going really well, but I had to stop it to reevaluate the skill point system/balance/leveling but a good part of it is already done.
That's good to hear.

Quote
No I don't. I might need to get a professional spriter to get all bosses in the same style and stuff.
Professional, eh? Well. I don't think you'll need to go that far.

Quote
Didn't knew you were a spriter. Do you have some examples that I can see?
I don't, sorry.
I'm not a spriter, I just can sprite. I can make edits, or start from scratch.
I'm an actual artist, so I have control.
And I have made a lot of gif animations, so I have a sense of animation. I think I can handle this.

Posted on: December 31, 2010, 02:00:46
Nevermind. Here's an example of me re-doing your Force Starfish sprite in a more MMX style. The colors aren't true SNES colors, but you can change them as you see fit.

A few mistakes in the star on his back, but I rather think it looks more "MMX"ish than the one you have.

Does Force Starfish float, or does he stand most of the fight?
I'll do some jumping animations later. I'm effing tired right now.

So this project IS still moving along.

Good, good.
The skill tree looks good. Confusing, but well. Only at a glance, I suppose.

Keep it up.  >0<

JKB, I have some questions. Since no one's posted to this thread in a while, my curious mind has gone haywire and I need answers.
Or at least would very much appreciate some if so could so possibly be granted.

*Ahem*
So I wanted to ask, are you still working on the pause screen?
Is it programmed in, or are you working on the design, and then programming it in later?

Second, do you have all the boss sprites made so far? For moves and such? The bosses last anyone saw are statues, and do nothing.
So has your "spriter team" created the sprites yet? If not, I'm perfectly willing to follow your "moveset" instructions and make them myself.
I have too much free time, and you, possibly don't.

That is all.

If you're good at evading damage in the first place, it doesn't matter if it takes a few seconds to charge up.  8)

Once you shoot that charge shot, everything dies. X's charge shot in X8 was amazing. And I'm not good enough to solo the game on hard to begin with, but if I was gonna solo it, it'd be with X, without any armor. Definitely.

But like you said, opinions. And we should probably stop before JKB gets mad.  >U<

I'm aware.

Read my whole post next time.

Don't get me wrong, I like X. But after playing X1-3 with just X (given playing Zero is a pain in X3) and finally in X4 they start introducing options? Yeah, I'ma [tornado fang]ing take my options. That and Axl plays better than X ever did in X8. So yeah.

Though, on that note... Command Missions did X some serious justice for a change. And people AREN'T funding this idea? Ugh... more people need to give Command Missions credit. It was the best X game I ever played, honestly. And that is saying something.
I'd say it's just a matter of preference. 'Cuz I think X is more straight-forward to play in X8. Axl's a pain in the arse, and the fact that you can't charge is sad.
But that's why I play X instead. It's my personal opinion, and I can see why people would find that Axl plays better than X.  :P

Blame capcom for shafting X's spotlight in his own series since X4. even X6's focus was on Zero, and he was the OPTIONAL character!

Actually, funnily enough, Command mission is the one with the best X spotlight since then. It revolves around him, since X is the party leader, (EG when there's no one else with you, its just X.) and he does most of the talking, and story expose- Funny how the one game most removed from typical X series stuff, is the one where X finally gets put back in his place.

Zero and Axl both get more supporting roles despite being mains, series mains, and playable. hell, they both get introduced to the party (ignoring Zero being in the intro stage, since you loose him right after) around what, halfway in?

Back on topic however, since we dont know much story yet, it would seem quite balanced when it comes to the characters. X and Zero both get their spotlights in JKB's demo videos.

Nah, I think it's just because Zero is "cool" and X is too soft, and annoying with his "When will we stop fighting" whining.

Don't get me wrong, Zero IS cool. But I like X far more. Besides, in X8, X becomes more mature, and "cool" like Zero in X8. Without completely changing his personality.

Megaman X8 X was the coolest, imo. And the fact that X rarely spoke in the SNES made him cool by itself.. I hope JKB has put a reasonable amount of thought into the dialogue for X and Zero.

I must be the only person who plays Megaman X games for Megaman X, not Zero, not Axl... Megaman X.

I see Zero, and apparently Axl fanboys. But no X fanboys.. What's wrong with y'all?  >8|

I don't get why does this matter. There is enough time for you to recover and get out of whatever hit you.

PS: I'm not making an exact copy of MMX engine, otherwise I would be using SNES resolution, X-X3 HUD setup and many other small details I adapted for balance and/or to my liking.

Try playing Mega Man X1 with only 20 invincibility frames. I just personally think the D. Barrier time length should decrease or increase based on the selected difficulty.
Maybe even make it only last 5 frames on the highest difficulty, so you can get combo'd if you aren't careful. As you can imagine, it adds difficulty. And if you have one more added difficulty level after S, then going overboard on the difficulty isn't a bad idea at all. Make it practically impossible if you like.

And I'll tell you right now. 5 frames of invincibility is HARD. But it's also really fun. So there. That's my idea. Make the hardest difficulty give X and Zero only 5 frames of D. Barrier.

Are you guys talking about the damage barrier that occurs when you get hit? And X flashes and is invincible for like... 60 frames.

*Edit*
Yeah, it's 60 frames. How many frames does your D. Barrier last? 20?

I like the one I have more, it fits the X-X3 style better imo.

May I see the animation of it then?
If it's not too much trouble?

*Edit*

On an unrelated note, what REALLY makes a speed run amazing is advancing through a difficult level design like it's nothing.
I don't know what you have for the "Sigma stages" so far, (Which is fine, I don't need to, until you finish the game)
but if the sigma stages level designs are complicated, that'll make the game even harder.

Harder = better.  >w<

Posted on: October 01, 2010, 04:42:29
Hmm... Darn. Seems a waste to just throw that animation away now. Oh well.
