Right now, I got an illness that will not go away. Because the only cure is SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI 4. Not Persona. Not even Devil Summoner (much as I love it).
Import Strange Journey?

Feel free to talk about the Megami Tensei series, character, demons, media, etc. here.
I'll start. Any tips on Devil Survivor for a Megami Tensei newbie like me?

If you're a newbie, you may want to focus on upgrading your Main Character's physical strength on levelling up until it hits maybe 18 or 19, and then focus on Magic and Health (with the occasional Agility boost), because otherwise Day 3's boss fight might prove tricky. Also, any Demon you can obtain with either Evil or (I think) Chaos Wave as an ability will be your friend, because you can snipe enemies from two or three panels away, and they can only retaliate if they have a demon with the same ability on their team. As far as passive abilities for your Main Character, Hustle and Tailwind are useful if your MC is lacking in physical strength or agility.
Cracking the Elemental Dances (especially Holy Dance) is also useful, particularly against enemy squads that only contain one member, as they'll take all the hits. I'd also recommend cracking Pierce onto one of your characters, so if there's an enemy squad leader that you CAN kill flanked by two that might be more tricky, you can deal full damage to the squad leader instead of the reduced damage normally dealt.
S'not much, but I hope that helps :)
I appreciate the help. Though its kinda funny that you bring up the Day 3 boss because I'm at Day on Devil Survivor as we speak at this moment. But right now I'm focusing on raising demons to fuse to get super-powerful ones, like this Pendragon that I fused; it has 28 in Str. Right now my MC's stats are all around 10, I was trying to make my MC well-rounded but focused on Agl, Str, and Mgc. f^_^;
Hey does anyone remember the "Miss" Yasogami Pageant on Persona 4? XD

I agree partially. Leveling up the MC's STR is a good thing up until about 15 or so (if you can score any attack increasing spells or so, do nothing but have your demons use them in the battle with the boss in question), but there's too many moments in D.Survivor where you have to rescue someone, so Genma or Avian or Wilder demons are a must, so grab the latest ones and fuse'em, you'll need the movement space (I don't know if Avian's abilities and Wilder's abilities stack, so it might be better to just have two characters to have a Wilder at the start and the other to have an avian, and then when you get the 4th member, give'em another Avian). Chaos Wave and Evil Wave are not helpful when you need to cross the whole field to get to someone.
The problem with the Dances is that they tend to only hit twice, not three or four times. Pierce is another good ability, but the major problem with that is by the time you have access to it, most of the enemies will repel attacks instead of null, resist, or absorb, so having an Almighty attack works better. Speaking of which, GET DRAIN ASAP. In other SMT games, Drain isn't that useful of a spell, but here, with the right members, you can drain the entire enemy party of their MP and spent none whatsoever yourself in the end.
As far as ending's go, you can try Noya's (or whatever the cousin's name is) path first, since the beginning chick leads to a bad end and bad NG+ (won't spoil anything, but as far as rewards go, her's sucks since she doesn't do much, while every other path gives you +1 to move). While it doesn't really matter what path you go down, Noya is a damn good spellcaster and can REALLY make up for what you lose on his path. Seriously, he's more potent than the MC (mostly), it just sucks that certain spells require other stats to be high as well.
Speaking of Devil Survivor, I'm still stuck with Belial and I don't think I'll ever be able to get past him -___-

*headdesk* How the hell did I forget Drain? Ah well, it seems my playstyle's a little different to yours. I actually took Yuzu's route first to remove the EXP cap when trying the other stories. Mostly because of the final bosses.
Well, I said it because SJ was supposed to be SMT4 proper if I remember that quote correctly :P

Make it happen, already, Atlus. My PS3 hungers for that mysterious listing that got onto Amazon.jp a month ago! 8D

I'd rather it be more 90s esque in battles and cutscenes anyway since sprites look so much better for that kind of stuff than models do
that and the 3DS has limited strength/game size capacity compared to the PS2 so that could be a reason too.
Are you seriously saying graphics are something driving you away from the game

Does the sequel have a name yet?
There's gonna be a stream for a major announcement, probably Persona 5, on the 24th

Persona Q looks like it could be really neat. Was that Adachi at the end?
Hopefully it is.

Was that Adachi at the end?
I don't think it could have been anybody else.I guess maybe, all he needs is a TV.
Adachi confirmed for playable?

why
I just find it funny that the Vita gets a rhythm game, while the 3DS gets an actual RPG.
And yes, I know Vita has Golden, but you know Sony fans are pissed.
Well, according to a twitter post, PQ is canon. And it's supposed to properly conclude P4 and P3's storyline or something.
So, that's one thing to get Sony fans disappointed.

why
Again, this was just a twitter post. From a fan.
Take the canon statement with a HUGE grain of salt.
The story of Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth revolves around a rumor that involves the so-called "Seven Wonders of Yasogami High" and a mysterious clock tower and a labyrinth that appear out of nowhere on the school yard during the Culture Festival of Yasogami High School. According to said rumors, whoever hears the sound of the tower's bell will die. The bell's chime was also heard in Tartarus by the members of SEES, who find themselves transported to Yasogami High. The only way to return the world to its original state seems to be hidden within Zen and Rei - however, both Zen and Rei have lost their memories.
The gameplay of this title is deeply grounded in its Etrian Odyssey roots: Players explore a seemingly endless labyrinth in a first person perspective and battle Shadows in a turn-based fashion just like in Persona 3 and Persona 4. However, players can use a five-man party consisting of the casts from the previous games.
Persona Q gives players the choice to control either the Protagonist from Persona 3 or the protagonist from Persona 4. The dialouge and events will vary depending on the players choices to follow either the Persona 3's SEES or Persona 4's Investigation Team.
Not sure how I feel about the EO-style of exploration.
I really haven't touched the franchise since SMT IV so can someone tell me how the P3 protagonist is in this; considering P3's ending. Did I miss a huge plot point somewhere? :oSide games sometimes don't follow continuity. Otherwise Shinjiro wouldn't be there either, especially since the FemPersona 3 Protagonist/Minako is not in there.
Glad to hear it, Trinity Soul wasn't very good from what I saw and I doubt I'll make any effort to watch any more animated entries from the franchise. At least watch the Persona 4 anime, while short and obviously they don't get too deep in every single nook and cranny and skip over some things, it's worth it for the main character and how he reacts to things.
Guessing it'll be on PlayStation 4? Little behind on persona news lately.
If Rise truly is playable that would be [tornado fang]ing amazing
Rise was rumored about a week ago in a Best Buy ad. It also said Ken will be playable too.
Adachi is a DLC character in the new P4 Arena. (http://www.siliconera.com/2014/06/03/adachi-dlc-character-persona-4-arena-ultimax/)
Get hyped.
I kind of like Marie myself, though her poems are quite dull.
Is it bad that I actually prefer Persona 3 to 4?
Its not bad but if you had real taste you'd prefer Persona 2 over both of them.Probably would, if I played it! It's on my list to play though, and I do have it on PSN.
Welp, that's an extremely plain looking MC.
Honestly it looks awful, and this is coming from someone who is willing to look past the generic art style of the Survivor series.

Nope. Maybe if all the games they were making were terrible, sure. But all the P4 games have been good so I see no need to complain.
Why don't you try Shin Megami Tensei 4?
Never thought I'd say this, but I'm getting a little tired of all the Persona 4 focus.....
Hence why I prefer Vanilla! 8D
This game has more flare than P3 and 4 combined.
