I feel like playing it again, but I totally forget what the differences were.

I have it for PS2, but there's no way I'm hooking that thing back up.  If I'm going to OBTAIN IT 100% LEGALLY for my NOT COMPUTER, which version do you recommend?

The difference I see is that the PS2 version has a demo of Mega Man X8, plus if you have Command Mission's save file on the same memory card, you can unlock a bonus fight with Cut Man near the end of Optic Sunflower's stage.

The GameCube version, from what I've seen and heard, has faster frame rate, plus you can use your GBA to dig up tokens for an exclusive set of action figures.

The only differences are as follows:

I THINK the Gamecube version might have better framerate or something, (usually the case with GC vs PS2)

The PS2 version has a demo for X8 that you can get easily in the game, (and stays unlocked once you get it)

The GC version can be hooked up with a GBA to locate hidden tokens with the GBA screen as a radar, for an extra figure vending machine in Central Tower, which you can look at in the Sky Room trophy room. The PS2 version does not have this vending machine.

Other than that, there are no real drastic differences. Depends which you care about more. An unlockable demo of X8, (which is slightly different than the final in terms of some music tracks and some graphics, as well as difficulty) or virtual collectible figures.

EDIT:

Also what White-Jet said, about the CM save file thing for X8.

Although you can access the same hidden fight with a code at the title screen of X8, rendering the save file unnecessary.

Zero's street fighter style combo input super move is way easier on PS2. Other than that, it looks as though the GC one is 'the best'.

The faster framerate on the GCN version seems to affect the specials, from what I remember, as they were minigames and some of them had a button imput (dunno if the timer is slower in the PS2 version of Command Mission, I don't know).

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

Gamecube version is the way to go. It's a silky smooth game all the way through. ^^

Still happy to own both versions~

Plus the Cutman fight in X8 can also be unlocked via cheat code (it's how I did it).

So that's not really a true benefit.

So yeah, Gamecube.

I haven't played the PS2 version, but Command Mission is IMHO one of those rare games that actually comes more naturally to GCN's face button layout, seeings how the game has three attack buttons, one main and two sub.  Makes mashing for those Final Strikes a lot easier.

Yeah, and figures, if you feel like hooking up a GBA.

Overall I preferred the GCN version. It's pretty much just the superior version but not by so much that it's obvious. It has a crisper appearance and the Framerate didn't stagger as much during battles.

You refuse to hook your PS2 back up, but want to play a legal version of Command Mission, which is only available on PS2 or Gamecube.

....doesn't the question actually answer itself?

I know that I am late in answering, but it may vary on your preferences.  The Gamecube version has a faster framerate and better looking graphics.  The PS2 version has less noticeable slowdowns and is more friendly with the Right Analog stick compared to the Gamecube version.
