Oh the story man, it is long and great.
I googled for custom poster service, found a shop that you could upload images to. I selected that image and ordered it. And there ya go. Didn't cost me much.

That is very much real.  In fact, somewhere, I have a comic with that ad in it.  However, I don't think it was continued beyond just that two-page spread.
