I just realized he uses it as the basis for the P. Coil and P. Jet, and we really don't know where it came from....

What color is my heart, Snively...?

It's not got a name, so I'd say no.

I'd say yes, while it's not in the same vein as Rush, Treble, Beat, Tango, etc. it still assists him.
Just because it's not in the menu doesn't mean anything, why would he want to unequip his shield?
It IS in the menu screen for MM7...

Blues Shield, Rockman7.
You just got Zan'd!

Yeah, I'd say it's a support unit. It does support you when you get it sooo... yeah...

I always counted it as a "shield" kind of how like X has Buster, Zero has Busters and Saber, Blues has Buster and Shield...

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Well it's a "unit" that "supports" you. Or to rephrase that, an "item" that "aids" you. So yeah, it is.

It's kind of like the items you get in MM4, except it comes with the buster.

Blues Shield, Rockman7.
Curses, foiled again!

But it's not got a person kind of name. Or for that matter, a mind of its own, but I dunno if that is a requirement to be a "support unit" rather than regular item.

I don't think it really matters. I get the impression that "support unit" is some US-only term like "Robot Master" whose definition was only defined by the fans and then wrongly applied anyway.

And just for the record, the shield is NOT the P.Coil or P.Jet. Those are only stylized after the shield.

The shield doesn't transform into them?  Lame!

He has a shield under his shield just like he has sunglasses under his sunglasses?

He must have accidentally reversed the polarity, and that's why the shield only works while jumping now.
