I think mine could've been either 1-3, possibly 5.

And I didn't know how to slide properly back then. The only boss I managed to fight was the fake Tomahawkman and I got raped badly by him....

Mega Man, which one of my uncles had before selling off his NES and games. :|

Of course, back then, I was younger and less-experienced. Needless to say, I got beat up by every single stage. -u-'

Mega Man 3.  Back then I sucked too much to ever defeat Shadow Man without E-Tanks, so I passworded past him and used ye olde Rush Jet menu glitch.  And I could never figure out what the hell Snake Man's weakness was.  We got 1 shortly after that and 2 later.  3 still remains my favorite of the entire Classic series.

I was also the only one out of me and my two brothers who ever beat 1 without a Game Genie.  I have no idea HOW one who could not beat Shadow Man does that, even with Select, but I did.

Hm I guess most boss order charts just stuck with Shadow Blade until later they found Needle Cannon more useful. ^^

Or the charts felt like picking Needle Man last. x3

Shadow Man can be unpredictable "sometimes". Either he does the slide, or he throws Shadow Blade.

One of the toughest Buster-only fights. =o= But you could just keep shooting and hope for the best, avoiding one of his moves.

The NES Game Atlas, my main guide back then, never made that clear.  He's placed after Spark Man in weapon order (they start with Magnet Man), but they never do discuss what weapon to use on him, and the screenshot shows them attacking with Hard Knuckle for some reason.

MegaMan 2, FlashMan's level.  I finished my homework and saw my brother playing MM2, which was rented from Metro Media (to this day, I still miss this rental store).  He was playing FlashMan's level, and he sucked at it, so I gave it a try.  I kicked ass, and I was instantly hooked from then onward.  Got MM2 & MM1 for X-Mas that year.
