THis is the question which is working into me since I play to the megaman games. It is present in the classic, the X, the star force series and a little in the zero's series as an ennemy but we/I don't know more about this little robot. So who is it? Who was its creator and has it been build? Has anyone got information about it?
Metall, please, could you telling about yourself?

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure (90%, maybe?) that Dr.Wily is responsible for creating MOST of the robot enemies (including Mets, Mettals, Mettaurs, Metools, however you want to say it). He doesn't just do robot masters at the end of the areas, he has to make enemies to try and stop Mega Man in any way possible.  8D

I used to think of them as broken Picketmen, whose heads and feet turned out to be the most durable parts.

I mean, a miner-type robot that was modified to attack people with its pick, that makes sense.  But a disembodied head in a helmet that spits bullets in three directions at once?  That's just bizarre.

if you take the helmet off, a horrifying monster will emerge from under it.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

I think of it. It also appears in the others series where Wily isn't the villain...  So, we can think it was found in some remaining laboratories and reactivated.

Why not. But they are doing a loosy job.

Personnally, I though it is one of the light's robot which is jealous from the others... You know, it is too small to be a hero...  ::)

Dr. Right actually, and anyone who just happened to advance upon his work. Wily just reprogrammed them. Unless they're made for combat, then they're Wily's.

Said disembodied head actually has arms and a pickaxe.

You're better off going "WTF" over the fact that SSR has them of alien origin.

Now I feel bad about blasting them.

And my personal thoughts.  I think they're just the most common type of robot made, and mass produced in ridiculous quantities, so it's easy for Wily to get lots of them to fill the ranks of his robot armies.

You know, gaiz. If Metool's hat is immune to all damage. Then... why the hell didn't Wily, or any other EVIL DUDE from the "robotic" Rockman universe created a Robot/Repliroid that is made purely out of Metool alloy? I mean, creating even few of them would guarantee victory. Well, at least Mecha-Wakamoto(High-Max) seemed to be created from something like that. Because if I remember correctly, he was practically invincible.

Oh yes, they are the Goombas of the Megaman series, each with unique personalites.. and ask me why they haven't had a Megaman (except Super Adventure) where they shined as NPCs?

And yes, early on High Max was invincible until you exploited his weakness.. but I'm pretty sure any evil dude hasn't made a Robot/Reploid/Navi out of Mettol armor/data yet.

So its about ass now huh? EVEN THE ASS HAS 'EXCEEDED'!

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

Not often.  And I figured that the Battle Network Mettools had their pickaxes directly attached to one of the knobs on their sides.

Because the shape is part of what makes it so invincible? So you can make a bigger metool and its hat will still work, but then it'll be just a bigger metool.

Battle Network 3 let you keep Mets as pets.
Im waiting for the Day a classic or X game will let you do that.( CM's Deployment Center notwithstanding.)

I wish Capcom would consider the Idea. I mean, the ruby spears show did it... and so did EXE 3.
