Gaming / MightNO9 will never replace Megaman
« on: November 23, 2013, 09:55:12 PM »
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Mighty NO.9, the game looks excellent, the bots are well designed (my favourite being the traffic cone bot) and especially Mighty whom i think resembles a futuristic version of megaman. the gameplay is exactly like the classic series which feels very solid and fluid. But as great as it is, i just don't think i could ever find it in my heart to let mightNO9 replace the megaman i know and love these past decades, as the series has been around for far too long now for me to just throw my hands up and say "Alright MightNo9 is the new Megaman now! i will absolutely give it all my love and affection to Mighty for the rest of my life! Farewell Megaman!" No, No, No, I simply cannot do that no matter what. Mighty for me is not Megaman and will never be megaman. Not now, not ever.

When MightyNO9 was first announced, I recall reading all those comments on KOTAKU and Kickstarter, and it upsetted me to no end to see those so-called "long-time Megaman fans" actually praising MightyNO9 as a "true successor" to Megaman. they rambled on and on about how MightyNO9 is 1000x times better than megaman, so much better that everyone will love Mighty and NOBODY will want to play Capcom's Megaman anymore. Then there's the other lot of them who funded and supported the game because they saw it as a means of getting back at Capcom for shelving the entire Megaman franchise, they were even delighted at the idea that MightyNO9 will someday "defeat" Capcom and force them out of business. Those of you who've been following Mighty's progress on kickstarter for a year now should know what i'm talking about; there really are people who wishes ill upon Megaman and Capcom and would want nothing more than for MightyNO9 to succeed them.

Now, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, which is why to this day I've not even once put up an argument with them on Kickstarter.
To me Megaman will always be Megaman, and the games will always be Megaman. no matter how good MightyNO9 is, I won't ever accept it as some "replacement" or "true successor" for Megaman. I'll enjoy Megaman/MightyNO9 for what they are but I don't think they will ever truly replaces one or the other. I know how much I love Megaman so I know Mighty will NEVER replace him. If somewhere along the future Capcom really does make a new Megaman game then I'd be as happy as a clam. :)

Original / my love of battle and chase
« on: October 09, 2013, 07:24:30 AM »
i never had an n64 for mario cart but i did have a ps1 back where i lived, and battle and chase was my all time favourite because of its crisp and vibrant 3d world and race cars which you can fully customize, and also for the verities in the racetracks that i think puts it far above that of mario kart's half 2d flat racetracks itself.

i remember that the controls were a lot more tighter compared the odd n64 controllers so you didn't have to bank left and right only to watch your race cart skid to the side and smash into a wall, the game is easy to pickup and play and unlike mario kart you can actually have fun and win some races without having to learn how to slide like a pro! i found Battle Chase to have aged better because the tracks and cars are all very detailed and well designed, even by today's standards if you look at the game worlds itself you'll noticed that there's some very cel-shading looking 3d models in this game which i rekon still looks absolutely brilliant to this day! also the only time when bass and duo actually makes an appearence in 3d is in this game and this game only. (though i could be mistaken but i'm fairly sure) and being able to have bass and duo's race car is worth the purchase price alone i assure you, where on the n64 with mario kart it's just a single half animated 2d spirte sliding across on a flat polygon surface.

and did i mention how great and electicfying the music in this game are? we're not talking about midi sound chips here i'm talking about the real CD AUDIO experience of hardcore rock and roll that only the ps1 can do! in short the game manages to deliver a fun and authentic racing experience in a 3d megaman world that looks and feels like the classic 2d megaman and i love the feel and thrills of speed where you can see the gameworld just whooshing by as you go, and you can tell the actual distance between the next turn and your car due to the longer draw distance. i only wished that i bought a racing wheel for it before the console broke but i was such a cheapskate that i kept using the first generation PAL controller. i do have a ps3 racing wheel now but my game disk is long gone so i probably have no hope of ever playing the game on the console ever again.
anyhow, i love battle and chase! great game, don't think we will never see anything like that again!

Shooting Star / Re: why don't very many people like starforce?
« on: October 07, 2013, 07:00:35 AM »
well that one i can agree on. SF2 was all about the MU stuff that i find hard to relate to, the armors weren't very good either but ending the series at starforce 3 was just abit too quick, i thought they would at least make another game after 3. i wanted to see more of sonia and geo and i wish they'd explain more on how Lan from mmbn invented the brotherband system and even better if his great great grandson would show up and have a small role in the story. that would be nice.

Shooting Star / why don't very many people like starforce?

hey guys i'm a big fan of the starforce series but i noticed that it isn't nearly as popular as mmbn was so sometimes i wonder why that is so. i loved the starforce series and i think it has a great cast of characters that are just as good as the mmbn series not to mention a better story line so i don't understand why so few people like it, i wish it sold as well as mmbn so that more games would be made for it....but we only got 3 and that's it. just wondering why there's so little love for the starforce series and why didn't it do as well as mmbn?
