We'd like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project.
From the outset the MML3 Project was intended to give gamers across the world insight and input into the development process. Part of this process includes an assessment of whether the title will go into full production, and is based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company.
Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game. Additionally, updates of the Mega Man Legends Developer Room will cease as of today, though the North American Developer Room and its forums will remain open indefinitely.
We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans.
We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise as well as other Capcom games.
It's called satire.
It's called satire.
After a while, the RAGE from all this will die down. Then Crapcom will announce an "ALL NEW 8-BIT MM11", and fans will eat it up as always without a thought. It's a cycle, if y'all haven't noticed.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Megaman is dead without Inafune.
...or just to show Capcom how much of a idiot they are, we could all mass-buy Legends on PSN and then tell Capcom that the overwhelming people who bought it are devoted Legends fans who want to see a proper send-off to the saga.

Edit: Gone already
Edit2: Or not. This'll probably keep up for a bit

It was still like that when I checked one moment ago. Still, I reuploaded the screenshot somewhere else, hope you don't mind.It seems fine whenever opening through here, but when clicking back from the Edit History, it's gone. I dunno.

Though you have to admit, Legends 3 being canceled did wonders for RPM.
The place was pretty much dead til now.
Though you have to admit, Legends 3 being canceled did wonders for RPM.Not sure if this is the kind of "wonders" I want, though....

Capcom doesn't care about your shitty money.
If they wanted it, they would have released Legends 3

I wonder how good Capcom's security on their website is.Hoping it actually happens. Capcom DDoS'd would be glorious.
Guess we'll find out very soon.
Like hell. They're too busy laughing behind their piles of money. They don't care. Much like Square Enix, but even they seem to acknowledge what their fans want.
Atlus and Nintendo on the other hand, no matter what people may think of them, still know how to deliver fresh experiences that their fans WANT.
Hoping it actually happens. Capcom DDoS'd would be glorious.
Seriously? Doing that just because some game you wanted didn't come out? This is the kind of retarded thing I'd expect from the Sonic fanbase, except none of them are actually smart enough to know how.You haven't paid attention to the Sonic fanbase in a while have you?
Honestly guys, Blame Inafune for abandoning this project and leaving the staff clueless.I was talking with a friend about this earlier.
You haven't paid attention to the Sonic fanbase in a while have you?
You haven't paid attention to the Sonic fanbase in a while have you?You know I'd really like to think that the fanbase of a dead franchise would be above a group of bickering furry manchildren that will rant endlessly if a new game in the series is in any way shape or form different from a mediocre Megadrive game from 1991.
I wonder how much they're not actually telling us =w= Really want to know what this 'criteria' was...Criteria was Inafune. nuff said.
I was gonna write a whole opinion piece on this, but it's not worth it. I find all of the whining and moaning and threatening and trolling deplorable, and that all that do such don't deserve Legends 3. And I'm sure even if the game came out, at least half of the world would still be giving Capcom [parasitic bomb] because it didn't live up to their expectations. Years of hype and anticipation wasted. You know, like what happens to every video game nowadays.
That's all.
I don't know how fans would have handled the game if it did come out, but i'm sure most of RPM would enjoy it. Hell, probably many other fans of the series as well. We've waited way too long for this, could we have really afforded to spit it back at Capcom's face? Especially with the massive fan support.Hey remember that other game people were waiting 14 years (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_Forever) for? Remember how it turned out to be terrible in every possible way?

real mature, guys

This is why no one takes the Mega Man fanbase seriously. 'Cause you're all 12 and dumb as [parasitic bomb].
Imagine this:
You work hard on something. You're supporting it the entire time, even when its status is dubious. The higher=ups constantly assure you it's going to be fine.
Then all your hard work and hope was for nothing, because it was unceremoniously canned, and no one received any compensation whatsoever. They didn't even tell you why it was dropped, beyond some vague excuse.
That's us, and likely the devteam as well.
Just sayin'.
(http://i51.tinypic.com/2nggd8m.jpg) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megaman_Legends_3)
I imagined this. My first thought wasn't "I have nothing left to live for" as I have seen many people say.
It wasn't "[tornado fang] Capcom rahrahrahrahrahrah"
Nor "I'm going to burn that [tornado fang]ing company building to the ground!!!!!111ONE"
Or any of the other bullshit I keep seeing.
You know what it was?
"Aw well. [parasitic bomb] happens."
I like how you couldn't get that [parasitic bomb] to stick on Wikipedia, so you did it to the MMN wiki. A wiki no one gives a [tornado fang] about anymore.Because I was totally the one that actually did that just because I screencapped it
Good on you.
EA has or is going to buy out Capcom.
...EA. Really? Where did your mum obtain this information
Wouldnt put too much stock in it. I remember a few years ago it was also rumored that Capcom was going to trade Mega Man for Splinter Cell.
Nick McCauley :According to an employee of Capcom (and he said this over a year ago actually) on an anonymous website, MML3 was never meant to be a game. It was a ruse by Capcom and Nintendo to sell more 3ds's.
...on the other hand, they released Ghost Trick not even a year ago.
He kept repeating that statement in FB....If that's true, then Capcom is a bigger dick than we thought.
Really Capcom. If it's not Street Fighter or Resident Evil you don't want to support it. If you don't care about Megaman anymore then sell the blasted trademark to someone who does.Like Inti. They would give him the love he deserves
Someone really needs to get a comment from inafune on all this.
Who the [tornado fang] cares? He's irrelevant now.The MegaMan fanbase cares. Because its interesting to hear his opinion, having worked there, and with megaman for so long.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition 2012 Edition. Coming soon.
Bravo, Capcom!
Excellent trolling right there.
Way to [parasitic bomb] on everybody who friggin' supported the idea of this game.
You could have at least released that demo/prototype/prologue thingy but noooo, why should you? LET'S MAKE MORE SFIV REHASHES!
But now I wonder.... Now what? :'(
they had also cut support for the Wii and 3DS (old news though) so that was another indicator. That's ok, all of their good games are on PS3/360/PSP anyways.
http://mynintendonews.com/2011/05/23/nintendo-capcom-announces-that-its-going-to-cut-nintendo-3ds-and-nintendo-wii-support/
INAFUNE: I quite liked "Legends" as well. There hasn't been much progress on that front, but I'm waiting for the right opportunity to bring it back into the spotlight. From a business perspective, "Legends" actually put us into the red. (laughs) Very few of my titles ever went into the red, but the three "Legends" titles somehow managed to do so. That's not to say that they didn't sell well enough... we just didn't recoup our development costs.
ARIGA: Does that include "The Misadventures of Tron Bonne?"
INAFUNE: Yes. Considering that the "Mega Man" series has sold 16 million copies overall, "The Misadventures of Tron Bonne" definitely stood out in a bad way. (laughs)
My immediate reaction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x74TkNlP6tcQuoted for the truth! Honestly, does Capcom think a frickin' rehash of Residel Evil's Mercenaries mini-game, SFIV, and [tornado fang]ing up Devil May Cry is a good business move on their part? Can't wait for SUPER ULTRA MEGA Street Fighter IV Ultimate Non-stop Climax NEO Arcade Edition PLUS 3D HD REMIX. </sarcasm>
Really Capcom. If it's not Street Fighter or Resident Evil you don't want to support it. If you don't care about Megaman anymore then sell the blasted trademark to someone who does.
[spoiler=TL;Read it anyways]Games are creativity.
Games are ideas formed from your own mind that becomes interactivity for you and the consumer playing said games.
Games are passionate unified interest between you and anyone else that share your passionate interest.
Games are art.
Games are music~ <3
Games are fun. FUN!!
Games goes WAY beyond business. With the right team and creative mind, you can see that the term "Video Games" offers so much more for developers and for the fanbase.
Let's take Cave as example here. Cave are mainly an arcade bullet-hell shooter company (they made games like ESPgaluda, DoDonPachi, Mushihimesama, Deathsmiles, Guwange, and so on) but they also make all kinds of other type of games with unexpected twists, like Nin2-Jump on XBLA. It's simple side-scrolling arcade action, where you pick up items to later reach the goal in a level. It's a simple concept that still works. The thing with Cave in general, is that they actually listen to their fanbase, and for them, it's OK if the games don't sell so much, but here in lies the reason why Cave games actually sells, even at the steep price they offer for both the arcade cabinets and their games on the 360. Not only do they have people that worked for decades and has still stayed in the company to develop, illustrate (drawings) and compose (music) new materials for their products, their games are set at a difficulty range that balance their income, specially in the arcades.
The drawings and artwork for their characters, backgrounds and overall appearance for their games are beautiful and also adorable~ But it also feels familiar. These games have characters and personalities you feel related to in some shape or form. Not to mention that the music made by Manabu Namiki and Yousuke Yasui all have this kind of unexpected love and effort put into them, with a specific sound font you don't normally hear in todays media anymore. It's mostly classic style game music, using Yamaha sound chips, to create melodies that actually gets stuck in your mind and that are catchy. And Yasui himself intentionally composes his music to sound like Mega Drive or 90s Arcade style music, and that in itself is a unique thing to hear and enjoy. If you want more examples on what their team at Supersweep composed, listen to the Mega Man Network Transmission (Capcom) and Battle Garegga (Raizing/8ing) soundtrack, and thank me later~ :cookie:
I can also mention Vanillaware and George Kamitani for their effort of creating visually appealing artwork, characters and animations that makes your eyes glimmer with love and excitement. Their latest game will be Dragon's Crown, but they have also made games like Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (for Capcom), Princess Crown, Grim Grimoire, Odin Sphere, Muramasa: The Demon Blade and a few other beautiful games, so you can see why these games are still fun to play and appeal to a fanbase that enjoys these types of games.
Even in the early 90s, WayForward has a lot of spriters and composers on their team to create unique experiences that you don't see much of anymore, and their characters are mostly cute-looking but also has sex appeal, but not in a borderline way. Awesome games they have made lately is Shantae, Sigma Star Saga, Contra 4, Mighty Flip Champs and Mighty Milky Way, and there will be more later on, like Mighty Switch Force on 3DS. Not to mention that a personal friend of mine (James Montagna) is on their team designing and structuring the maps for their games, like in Shantae: Risky's Revenge, and the maps makes you explore so much of each area and use your skills and items to unlock new path, and that's a inspiring and addicting way to lengthen the game's replay value and the game's overall length. Kinda like the 2D Metroid and Castlevania games. And Jake "Virt" Kaufman's music is so over-the-top and exciting too, they are in a style that takes you back to the classic days of video games, but adds new elements into the mix too, and his compositions are unique too. Look into his stuff at Big Lion Music (http://www.biglionmusic.com/).
I could go on like this, but there actually are fun games that don't really focus on business and still wins the hearts of their fanbase and are unique original ideas with twists and memorable lovable characters in them as well. Like Capcom's Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on DS, Marvelous Entertainment's Half-Minute Hero on PSP&XBLA, GameFreak's DrillDozer on GBA, CyberConnect2's Solatorobo: Red the Hunter on DS, DreamRift's Monster Tale on DS, Mistwalker's The Last Story on Wii, MonolithSoft's Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii, Ganbarion's Pandora's Tower on Wii, G.rev's Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta!, Konami's Otomedius & Parodius & Gradius series, Capcom's Power Stone games, Psikyo's Gunbird games and countless others. I will stop here but I hope you get the idea about how games are fun interactive experiences for both developers and the fanbase, and their existence will be remembered by all the passionate gamers for years, decades and millenniums to come. <3[/spoiler]
Boycotting Capcom will do nothing, the Mega Man community is not big enough and even if we were as big as the RE community, it will do nothing. And the worst thing is that it will portray us as an immature community.
You can boycott them all you want, it won't stop them from making millions off of the next monster hunter title they make.
Edit: By the by, where did you find that wonderful piece, STM?
I've read some stuff that made me laugh, facepalm, and just shake my head in complete amazement. I mean really, what does Rockman truly mean to you? Is he your religion, your God, your savior, your Scientology? Is this series some kind of huge driving force in your life, as if the very thought of losing it means losing out on true happiness and everlasting peace? Seriously, if it is, then please do me a favor and seek some kind of counseling or professional help. It's. A. Video. Game. and IT. DOESN'T. MATTER. It's entertainment. It's leisure. It's something to relax too after a long day of school or work. It's certainly not something to cause someone stress.
