Anyone coming in here expecting high brow entertainment, do a 180 as soon as you finish reading this sentence. This might seriously be the most perverted, puerile and manic thing I've ever seen. It might also just be the most refreshing anime to come out of Japan in [tornado fang]ing ages. For anyone elsepervertedcurious enough to give this a shot, well, let's run down the basics.
PnSwG tells the story of two angels, Panty & Stocking, sent forth from heaven to rid the world of "ghosts", creatures formed out of human desire and hatred which have appeared in Daten City, a place filled with sin and crime... Or that's what they would have you believe. In actuality, the two angels, Panty and Stocking, got kicked out Invader Zim style by the powers above for their less than stellar actions and personalities. I am not making this up. As for the characters, Panty is a hot blooded, dick loving woman who fights with enchanted panties that turn into a gun and Stocking is a gothic lolita with a mouth that'd make a sailor blush and an affinity for sweets. This. Is. Actually. For. Real. XD
Seriously, I'm at a lack of words for this one right here. If you still need to be sold though, this animation comes from the same lead animator responsible for inspiring a whole generation to ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWER, Hiroyuki Imaishi. You can expect tons of balls to the wall crazy as [tornado fang], Tatarovsky like animation to go with the zany as [tornado fang], fetishy and BEYOND hilarious writing of each episode. Oh, did I mention that they have transformation sequences involving pole dancing that goes way beyond "well that's different" and somewhere into upper "OMG THEY CAN DO THIS ON TV?!" XD

The only reason I'm watching Panty and Stocking is to get away from "serious plots" and "character development" in anime, because it's absolutely horrendous. If you haven't noticed, Gianax can't handle this [parasitic bomb] at all.

A long time ago, I asked "What's this Gurren Lagann thing ya'll talking about?" and the topic I asked in exploded to 5 pages further. No one gave me a straight answer, just a bunch of really stupid lines from the overhyped anime of the century. Then when I called them on their BS (given if you want to interest someone, make it titillating, not retarded.) they went apeshit and tried, very poorly I might add, to run me out.
It's one thing to like GL. To even stand by it as a favorite anime. But to get cultist over it... that is when you become a Gurrenfag. And frankly, most fans I've seen are just that.

Personally, I consider myself a fan of NGE, but I don't go out of the way to call it the best anime ever (No Anime holds that right at the moment, not even Code Geass which I do enjoy so much.), And I consider myself a fan of TTGL and FLCL as well. TTGL had two seasons of like 15 or so episodes each, although there is the possibility that the second season will be either better, or vastly worse.

Anime is more underground here in the US. We only get anime through some networks of which require subscriptions, or Adult Swim, otherwise we need to order DVDs. Anime isn't nearly as prominant, though it's slowly becoming more popular, which we can tell by just looking at a few of our own shows, MAD did Grey's in Anime, parts of Avatar: The Last Airbender were actually inspired by FLCL, etc.
Madhouse also helped out in animating seasons 2 and 3 of the Boondocks. The creator of the Boondocks also loves Anime.

Sorry, but I was the complete opposite and went for Ghost In The Shell and NGE before I even watched and/or heard of TTGL. And that was back when both were on DVD and televised in the early 2000's. Oh well, can't please everyone. :\
