Title: Mega Man: The Fan Film coming out on May 7th
Post by: Protoman Blues on April 22, 2010, 10:19:04 PM: Greetings RPMers one and all. As all of you know, or at least some of you, a Mr. Eddie LeBron has been working on a live action Mega Man movie for some time now. Well, after a year or so of tireless film making, we are getting closer to the boss gates. The film will be released on May 7th, only two weeks away. Mr. LeBron has released a new trailer for the movie on Screw Attack.

I am hoping to get a chance to speak with Mr. LeBron in person either before or after the movie, as I just so love getting to know people, especially in the film industry. Either way, I have been looking forward to this for a long time now, so I can wait another 2 weeks. XD

Gotta love Gutsman there, the rendering and voicing looks and sounds great! :)

So far the style of the film is great. Also, it's definately a return to childhood because I notice the 1 thing on Mega Man's helmet... the diamond-shape that's supposed to be a square-shape... just like in the old 1994 cartoon.

Thank you SO MUCH for the support! I hope the film is worth the wait =).

You are the first to get the armor! Since it's your birthday on the 7th, we will mail out the DVD with the costume. If there are any international delays, we will keep you posted but we will most likely mail out the standard DVD with the costume next Tuesday so they get them on/by the 7th! I'm going to miss that costume but what a nice birthday gift =D.

Post by: Fxeni on May 07, 2010, 09:22:30 PM: It's pretty damn good, considering the budget. The Robot Masters followed their personalities from Powered Up, which is a nice touch. Blues kicks ass. The best casting by far is Wily though, no contest there.

Guts Man was bad ass
Fire Man reminded me of Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid.
Dr. Wily was great (lol he has a computer "wife")
Blues punch...you heard it first
There were some things though that bugged me. But it was still enjoyable

Only Wily, Fire Man and Blues quite fit IMO. But Yellow Devil was awasome :3. Soundtrack was good enough too. But I excepted more from Eddie.

I can tell Blues pawnch is going to be the next big meme now. 8D

Jesus, Wily. He really steals the show there. Emmy material for sure. Unfortunately, I didnt quite like Light's acting. The guy who plays him is perfect, no doubt, the look is fine, but.. His acting isnt so great. He comes off very monotonous... and actually, at some times, seems a bit of a dick.
But then again, Dr. Light is a douche, so it fits!

Rock and Roll. Very good acting both of them. Roll is uber adorable. XD
I loved that line, "Does my hair look fake?"

And Then the RM's. great acting all of them. They followed the Iceman thing from PU, which was interesting, and at least they made Elecman awesome, and not the flaming uber ghey he was in PU. Actually reminds me of Ariga Elecman actually.

Im really surprised they didnt add the flame on Fireman's head though! That was all it was missing! I mean, he had it when he was activated, yet never again after...

As for Cutman... Its funny how Light made them human like so that people would be more... "comfortable" around the,. And yet... Cutman is the SCARIEST looking mofo ive ever seen. I mean really. He has RED PUPILS. Id be pretty scared of him. XD

But yeah. very great film. Copy Megaman could have used more screentime IMO though...

Im really gonna see if I can make the screening...

Fights and graphics aside, the movie did really well in the character development department, considering the source material. I think they really brought the characters to life. Most of the changes to the scenario were also within acceptable margins. The acting was pretty good as well for a no budget production.

It sort of falls apart at the end though. The super teleporter upgrade was lame, and the kidnap plot was kinda weird. Should have went with Item-2 since they were mixing games anyway. Most of the battles were pretty dull and lifeless. The robots using punches and kicks was pretty stupid too. It needed more of a gun fight feel.

All in all though, it was better than I thought it would be.

Post by: Flame on May 08, 2010, 03:49:24 PM: What i found the movie lacked in some places actually- was sound effects. some points felt like they forgot to put sound effects in. mainly for example, when its VS Yellow Devil and hes squishing Megaman, theres no SFX there. It could have used some.

I loved the movie, but there were still some flaws that could've been worked out. The first one is the length and pace. Mega Man pretty much just owns the robot masters in less than 2 minutes, and while if they spent too much time on the fights, it may have ruined the movie, the problem still lies in that it's something that still should've been taken into account. The pace was also too long in other places, and just how it carries out over time. I understand you may need to pad a movie out for character development, but if you're going to do so, then don't let it drone on.

The second one was Dr. Light. He seemed (like Flame said) monotonous and dickish, but most of all, he seemed REALLY pretentious. He kinda seemed to put in more drama than what was needed, and seemed fond of using rather big words when they weren't needed. There's also the fact that his actions in the beginning seemed to justify Wily getting pissed off; he flat-out fires the man and during the interview he never bothers bringing him up that Wily helped out in such a big way, and at that point, all Wily REALLY wanted was just recognition and get a bit of fame and glory (and can you really blame him? They've just made technological marvels that may have just very well spat in the face of God and Wily just wants a "thank you" from the people).

Lastly, the sound effects. I understand that this isn't a Hollywood production, but there were many times I saw something going on but no sound, such as a fight with one of the Master Robots one of them would swing a punch and connect, but no sound whatsoever, no clanking or anything. At one point, the background music even just stops in the middle of a fight.

"Independent fan depiction of the Blue Bomber's first conflict with the mad scientist known as Dr.Wily. I didn't expect much after watching a trailer of the well known plot, but I was surprised with the amount of work put into this for an indy film. Video games to cinema movies are difficult to create from what we have all seen so far, but Mega Man manages to atleast get consistent with the franchise and yes, it is entertaining for the fans especially. I would not recommend this if you've never played any Mega Man game before though. The best character was Dr.Wily, while Dr.Light was unfitting and the robots themselves definitely were the least interesting, showing the difficulty between merging 2 industries. The dialogue was decent but some of the acting and sentences were awkward. I shouldn't criticize about anything else considering it's an independent product meant for entertainment, so in overall it was an alright movie. Hmm...who knows....maybe one day Capcom themselves will make an own movie about fighting for everlasting peace. Or perhaps even a great director such as Christopher Nolan could make it happen, what an amazing achievement that could be. Until then, I am more than happy enough with the video games."

Yeah, but basing it on "accent"? thats like, whut? many people with a German accent might sound like that. Dotn mean they sound like Hitler. :P And LOTS of evil villains loose their cool when their plans are foiled. Just look at Eggman

It's the correct colour as of Megaman 1.

I was going to, but since he's been busy the past 2 years now, I figured he's earned somewhat of a rest. But I already have some interesting points of interest that Eddie & I talked about today when I met with him at the screener in the city.

They actually supplied plausible explanations on the origins of sniper joes and wily's fortress.

This movie made me see the Light-Wily relationship in a new light.

They are pretty much scientific versions of Goku and Vegeta after the Frieza Saga

Goku is a care free highly successful fighter who sees Vegeta as a friend and is totally oblivious to the fact that his success is driving his "Friend" crazy with homicidal jealousy and that said "friend" hates him in general and wants to surpass/kill him so he can rule the universe unopposed.

Dr. Light is a humanitarian who just wants to help people with his robots but he is totally ignorant of the fact that his partner Dr. Wily is starved of fame and attention and is a power hungry mad man.
