The front spike/door thing in the center of the chest plate was a [sonic slicer] and a half to make.
By the way, the whole thing started as a simple cube.

Yeah, the only tool I really use is the extrude tool. I still haven't figured out how to make and join new vertices.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to mirror the arm and leg to the other side without it messing up, detail the dashboard and UV map it.

Well I always draw Tsuyoshi without a nose, so I figure I should make the model lack one as well.
Though I'm actually considering adding a nose to the model. It's not like he doesn't have a nose, it's just very hard to see (as evident in IMBC #8 "The day the earth stood still").

PANTS.
I'm not sure if the style I'm going for is really showing, it's supposed to be kind of like the boxy models of yesterday but smoothed out to remove un-wanted 'jaggies' and a few little details added. Something like Banjo Threeie.
I do plan to make a shirtless/pantsless version later.

I'd say use eyes and mouth as the part of the texture. (I'm judging from your avatar)
But that means you'll need to remove the eye sockets or it will looks weird.
or if you're feeling super, do both and compare them. 8D

Maybe you should save one with the eyes and stuff a part of the texture and another with them not, and then work on them and see with one looks better in the end.
