Title: The 80s are back, and it's bodaciously radical~ (Double Dragon: Neon)

Killer hair dues and dominatrix women included.

A post alone doesn't do this game justice, just watch the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfs2gNNFgTg)! :cookie:

I'm almost done playing the game (http://www.trueachievements.com/Double-Dragon-Neon/achievements.htm?gamerid=284902), and I enjoyed every single moment of it!!

The music by Jake "virt" Kaufman (Contra 4, Shantae, Mighty series, and so on), and the team behind WayForward showing some great character and background designs, this game is a love letter to everyone who enjoyed the 80s or the references from that era. If you can, please get it, it's only $10, it's on both PSN and XBLA. Relive the good times of arcade brawlers once again. ^^b

Download the Free soundtrack from Jake Kaufman's page at BandCamp. (http://virt.bandcamp.com/album/double-dragon-neon)

Oh, and don't read/watch IGNorant's review, it has defamed WayForward's hard work more than enough already. x.x

TVTropes entry on the Double Dragon series in general. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/DoubleDragon?from=Main.DoubleDragon)

So... would you say it's better than Return of Double Dragon?  Or what about Double Dragon Advance, which used some gameplay traits from the aforementioned game?

I would say this game is much faster paced, it's developed by another company than Technos after all.

It has a lot of cheesy 80s vibes and catch phrases, but that's a positive addition to the game, since it makes the game funny too. The mixtapes system added to the game makes both Bimmy XD and Jimmy stronger by upgrading them with mythril at a tape smith and collecting more tapes from enemies or a shop. You have 10 different Stance upgrades and 10 Sosetsitsu moves to perform. There are a new set of weapons but some returning weapons too. It's a different take on the series, and it handles the core gameplay so well.

Overall it's a fun experience, specially if you like Double Dragon and 80s humor in general. ^^;

Updating the post with free downloadable soundtrack from virt himself.

It really is the complete package.

Also link Mixtape - Bomb Toss to people for laughs. The official term, as agreed upon by virt during the listening party for the soundtrack, is virtrolled.

IGNorant's review's are always butt-aching games like this, it's not like it's new or anything... I'll probably get this game maybe after the new Scott Pilgrim DLC comes out (and if I have any left over money).

I'll summarize the IGN review for you.

"I HATE BEAT-EM-UPS WHY AM I EVEN REVIEWING THIS GAME IT SUCKS BECAUSE IT IS A BEAT-EM-UP WHICH I HATE"

there, summarized.

virt actually loves the review, because people are grabbing the game in SPITE of the review. he thinks it may have been some sort of marketing maneuver or something

btw here's the listening party itself (http://areciboradio.com/archives/noisechannel/49-NoiseChannel_2012_09_11.mp3) with commentary from virt and his wife, truestar. it's pretty cool.

This game really is fantastic. I want nothing more than for it to sell as much as possible, because it deserves every penny. I was caught off guard when it was first announced, and was skeptical. I feel foolish for ever doubting it! I'm not the biggest Double Dragon fan in the world, but seeing it come back so strongly in this game is satisfying. It makes me wish other classic series could pull off this kind of magic (won't even say it cuz it's too obvious).

I salute you, Skullmageddon!

That was considerably more radical than I was capable of handling.

Isn't the art done by Genzoman?

Looks like his style.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Megaman tribute boss in this thing.  You fight a Megaman expy--blue armored cyborg who rides in on a red jet cycle, fires three shots at a time or a big-ass charged shot, has a slide-kick move, and explodes with the usual Megaman death animation when you defeat him.  Plus the stage itself has boss shutters and the boss arena is made to look like the Megaman boss intro screen.

@Acid: Yep, it certainly is.

It's funny, beacause they LOVE the first person shooter genre, more specifically the Call of Duty series, as that seems to get the most praise while they slam just about everything else that's not dark n' grit (even the MML Abridged Guy makes fun of this).

Also, gotta love Abobo's new look.

He should've done what virt did.
<+virt> ok so this is a boss battle theme for [spoiler] who is basically an unabashed homage to [redacted] man, and he rides around on a [censored] and fires his [data expunged] buster at you

By the way, does it have online co-op or local multiplayer only?

if memory serves, i think online "bro-op" as some are calling it is available. there may or may not be a patch in the works to fix it though.

Is it just me, or does Skullmageddon sound like Robot Chicken's version of Skeletor?

It was originally slated to be virt himself, but once virt discovered that the game's director Sean Velasco could do a better Skeletor voice than him, that's who it was.

Also all voices in this game are done by WayForward staffers.

Double Dragon 2 (NES version) is my favorite game in the series, but the one on GBA was pretty good.
