Maybe all of the Persona-ness is a mere smokescreen to get everyone's guards down, and then they unleash the SMT?

That's what I'm hoping; didn't see the initial teaser, but I don't like that kind of bait-and-switch any more than the next guy.

Honestly it would be nice if it did have a Madoka Magica sort of bait and switch but I honestly doubt it would happen.
