Hey there. :)

I've been playing the awesome Mega Man clone Rokko Chan. This game is really good, could easily be made into Mega Man 11 if the main character was the Blue Bomber.

http://king-soukutu.com/flash/rokko.html

Finished the game four times, three of them on Owata Mode (basically MM9's Mr. Perfect, but easier, since you have infinite lives and they allow checkpoints). The first time on Owata, the game glitched on me (double KO'd the final boss, and the game didn't trigger Rokko in when the level restarted). Second time, I used a password to the Fortress to save time and the game didn't register the full Owata run. Then on my third attempt I just played through the whole thing in one sitting and got the little crowns.

My question is about the little crowns. Does their color mean anything or do we just unlock them once? I really can't think of a more "golden" accomplishment than clearing the game on Owata, yet the first crown is still bronze. Or are they essentially "Trophies" like on the PS3, each with their own value?

Sorry if there's a topic on this already, the search box at least didn't find anything.

Still, you get nothing after completing all challenges.
Also, you can complete them even playing Unlimited Weapons mode, so that kinda sad.
They're not too hard.
"I wanna be the human" isn't like Mr. Perfect. You have only 1 hp, energy doesn't refill, but you have unlimited lives and tries. The most difficult were Dr. Mad's 1 stage bosses (I'm trying to kill the silver one, but you still have to keep eye on both of them) and Dr. Mad himself.
"Only One" wasn't difficult too. I completed it during my third try.
Overall, this game is very fun, it has replay value (Owata & Unlimited Weapons mode, challenges, rankings), very good soundtrack and very nice gameplay.

Awesome, I thought I was doing something wrong with the crowns.

Thanks a lot!

It's really a great game. Too bad we can't buy and download it.

The music is really good. Lightning Man FTW.

Thanks, Vixy. ;)

Here's hoping they create a ton of sequels. Maybe Capcom will be an inspiration there as well. :P

THIS is why we really needed a downloadable, off site version of Rokko Chan. I probably could have helped in some part, if I only knew what I was looking for. And unfortunately I couldn't even find a proper .SWF file. :-/

Totally. Here's hoping they give us a downloadable file.

While we wait, you guys ever played Ninja Senki? It's not a Mega Man clone as far as design (it's linear and you don't get weapons from bosses), but the gameplay and physics are pretty similar.

http://ninjasenki.com

IIRC, it was made by one of the creators of the Scott Pilgrim beat-'em-up. It's very cool and challenging.

And you can download the file... :P

Is there a way to change the controls for Ninja Senkai?

I always end up dying because Shoot and Jump are reversed.

For Ninja Senki, you can use WSAD for directions (same position as the arrow keys), and J and K for shoot and jump respectively.

You may also use a joypad with custom buttons IIRC. :)

Ninja Senki is really good. There are 15 or so levels, the last ones being quite challenging. I recommend grabbing as many coins as possible, because every 1000 points give you a 1-UP (if you have full energy) or restores your energy if you're low.

Just completed my challenge screen in Rokko Chan. Clearing the game in one life was FUN.
