Console: Nintendo DS
Release date: 25th February 2010
Developer: Neverland Co
Genre: 3D Action RPG
Producer: Kojima Hajime

Interview
# The second game’s system was a lot more refined, the scenario and music were well liked, and it took place before the first game too, so we decided to use the second game as the motif (Kojima Hajime)
# We didn’t want to do a straight port (Ukeda Naoyuki)
# Square Enix told us that we’re free to do whatever we ant (Ukeda)
# So that’s what we’ll do! (Ukeda)
# Turn based command battle systems aren’t new anymore, so we’re making it an action rpg now (Kojima)
# It’s not just a remake, we’re rebuilding the story, the characters, and the world settings (Miyata Masahide)
# The hadou weapons will be a key component of the story, the world is different from the SFC version (Miyata)
# The bottom screen will only be used to switch characters (Kojima)
# The game will revolve around the D-pad more than the touch pen (Kojima)
# Boss battles will use two screens, it has its own special code for that part (Ukeda)
# Boss battles will be hard if you don’t know what to do against each one of them (Miyata)
# “It will satisfy action game players, but players that are bad with action games will be okay too” by Kojima
# Scenario is based on the second game, there are parts where we are deliberately letting them say the exact same words as in the original game (Miyata)
# But basically, everything is rewritten (Miyata)
# The number of towns that are appearing in the game is different from the original two games (Miyata)
# There will be parts in the game which will make fans of the series smile (Miyata)
# Miyata has surprisingly not changed at all. He’s just embarrassed reading his scenario from 15 years ago (Ukeda)
# The music is being brought over from the original two games (Ukeda)
# We changed the sound quality without messing with the melody line (Ukeda)
# The main staff from the SFC versions are making this game. It’s rare to have something like that 15 years after the last game (Ukeda)
# Stuff such as “Mahou no XXXX Magical XXXXXX” from the original are still in the game (Kojima)
# We changed a lot in the game, but we constantly kept in our minds that “we should keep the parts that made the series what it is” (Kojima)[/spoiler]

I dunno, the Lufia games always felt a bit longwinded when I played them as a young'un. Badass boss music though.

PLEASE be as good as Lufia 2!

We can only hope Neverland Co is developing.
With the exception of Lufia III, Neverland Co has a good record with making Lufia games.

PS: better picture.

So far, all signs point to DS, but there should be more info on the 19th.

A person named Selen(a) is the Protagonist
Square Enix says it's being developed by the "original team", but I can only confirm it's Neverland Co, not the actual original team.
Nintendo DS
3D

And for those who are interested, Musics.

The name "Selena" reminds me an awful lot of "Selan".

Those few shots give a good impression of what the game will look (and probably play) like. But I'll wait for more material.

but I can only confirm it's Neverland Co, not the actual original team.

This does not necessarily exclude each other. Maybe the team goes by that name nowadays?

Maxim looks a little weird, but OK.
Selan looks good.

The Jacket think on maxim is a bit weird, but it's not that bad.
I approve of Gades.

Hope it goes well.

I'm kinda worried now though. Those screens make it seem as if this Lufia will have... realtime combat...

One of the scans has the lower screen. Fromw which I guess you can tag team both characters (a la CV: Protrait of Ruin)

Yes, mid-combo even, if the information is correct.
I'm keeping the initial post updated. Check the info there.

OK, will do so from now on. Here are my two cents on some points:

Quote
# Turn based command battle systems aren’t new anymore, so we’re making it an action rpg now (Kojima)
Not sure about this. I will wait until I actually played this.

Quote
# The game will revolve around the D-pad more than the touch pen (Kojima)
This is good! Stylus controls would have been messy.

Quote
# Boss battles will use two screens, it has its own special code for that part (Ukeda)
# Boss battles will be hard if you don’t know what to do against each one of them (Miyata)
Sounds interesting.

Quote
# There will be parts in the game which will make fans of the series smile (Miyata)
This is good!

Quote
# The music is being brought over from the original two games (Ukeda)
# We changed the sound quality without messing with the melody line (Ukeda)
This is VERY good!

Quote
# The main staff from the SFC versions are making this game. It’s rare to have something like that 15 years after the last game (Ukeda)
# Stuff such as “Mahou no XXXX Magical XXXXXX” from the original are still in the game (Kojima)
I hope they bring back the Ancient cave and the hunt for the Dragon Eggs.

Quote
# We changed a lot in the game, but we constantly kept in our minds that “we should keep the parts that made the series what it is” (Kojima)
And I hope they do not screw this up.

Notice in the screenshots there is only IP, no MP bar. I approve.
They seem to mention both games a lot. Either planning a sequel or they're both in one game.

Good

Quote

I'd prefer Turn based, but I do enjoy Action RPGs

Quote

Good

You know, no matter how hard they're gonna rewrite this, no matter how much they'll change, one thing MUST be untouched:

The ending.
