If you put everything like that, it becomes silly, no matter what. But really, this is the classic series, lighthearted cheesy and silly plotlines are the status quo.

I calls it like I sees it.  Too silly!

like, seriously.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

But Dr. Wily is evil, and he made Zero to do evil, so Zero did some evil, and that's why all the classic characters seem to be dead by the time MegaMan X starts!  It only makes sense!
Only the Mettools and one Bubble Bat survived.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but our friend Zero started out evil, and it was only through a stroke of luck that he was defeated and wiped of most of his memory before he was reawakened hundreds of decades into the future.  He only became a Maverick Hunter to try to atone for his crimes, including his crime of ending the original series by killing everybody.

Also, Auto says otherwise.

That was Auto's dead body you saw.

Watching TV?
So tell me, how would you refute Inafune's statement that he didnt kill them?

To be honest, I'd be happy to know that MM and company went with Duo.

Obviously he's just trying to throw us off the real story.  Don't worry, the games will reveal more details of the Cataclysm in time!
