You know all the Japanese subtitles for the Rockman games and other merchandise.
When they're translated, they suddenly have different meanings, depending on the translator's own personal view.

It would help the whole community (not just RPM), if we can just stick with one title for each game.
No troll posts or "lol RPM sux" or whatever. Just choose the title that sounds the best and help out for once!

I'll post the ones that I've collected and you will decide which one that sounds the best.
If you want to be creative and mix the translated words differently to sound more original, be my guest. ^^

First is the Japanese title, then the romanized title, and then a list of different English titles. Rettsu Go!!!

In that order; boukoku no mei ou. boukoku being ruined country and mei ou being dark lord, isn't it about reviving the dark lord rather than reviving his country?

for RM9, i recall it being referred to as The Ambitious Revival. i prefer that; it makes more sense to me.

But that only makes sense from a game production standpoint, not a story one. In the story, it's the revival of Wily's ambition.

And for Rockman 7, Destined Showdown! or Confrontation of Fate! or something different?

And then there's Quest and Adventure. Dai Bouken is closest to Great Adventure, so...? Thoughts?

Zan: i don't like the way that term flows. its sort of personifying ambition. (not the best choice of words, i know. just get it, man!) it doesn't make sense how you can revive that.

and The Ambitious Revival could still be of the story. if Wily's reviving his ambition, would it really be too farfetched for him to be doing it ambitiously?

for MM2, i prefer enigma. for MM7, Destined Showdown.

But the japanese says clearly "revival of ambition". But then again, Japanese is word sometimes.

Enigma is by far the better word for the whole ZOMG it's an alien moment of Rockman2.

Quest and Adventure have specific differences in meaning. Unless there's a specific pursuit (quest for the mother lode/holy grail/whatever) then it's just a fun filled adventure! And yeah, Dai = Great, Bouken = Adventure. It's probably assuming too much to say a great adventure is a quest.

Fated Showdown? Confrontation of destiny? I'm thinking 'fate' is inappropriate as fate is often its own word "unmei". Whereas shukumei is fate, destiny, predestination.. Destiny strikes me as the most powerful word. "Confrontation of destiny" strikes me as best.

I did like "Destined Showdown!" myself, and it's been used for a long time now.
I mean, it can be bent in different ways, like "Showdown of Destiny!" or "CoD!".

How about "Great Adventure on 5 Islands" ?

RPM: The Ambitious Name Game!!

Thinking creatively, there's so many possibilities for each one that would all be correct, although some might have more "official" answers than others. Funnily enough, even the Japanese versions aren't always consistent. I've seen both 最期 and 最後 used as the "saigo" in R3. I suppose they're just "the destined confusion!?"

I don't think "Yabou" is used as an adjective by itself though, so there's little doubt that the ambition is the subject of the revival, so on that one, saying ambitious revival is probably further from what was meant.
