The news drought continues to wage on but as fate would have it, we had a bit of a surprise this week:

Surprise! Mega Man 2 debuted on the iTunes App store this week, a complete "rebalanced" port of the NES classic complete with all the stages and bosses of the original. Don't get too excited though: it blows. The "rebalanced" gimmick makes the game near unplayable as the controls feel far too loose and too cluttered--gimped. However, if you're willing to relearn how to play this classic, then by all means pick it up for $5.00

In other news:

Mega Man Bids Anime Insider Farewell
According to an informant over at Topless Robot, Anime Insider, a monthly magazine devoted to all things Japan, will cease publication after an eight year circulation. Former editor of the magazine, Robert Bricken notes the entire editorial staff has been laid off. Harsh.

Donning the cover of the presumed final issue is none other than Mega Man of Star Force fame, acting as a figurehead for the issue's coverage on upcoming video games-- Star Force 3 included.

The issue is available on newsstands now. Order online here.

Trick Out Your Google Experience With Mega Man

Yesterday, Google introduced a slew of new personalized iGoogle themes based off of popular video game franchises. Lo and behold, Mega Man is but one of the many available themes. Nice looking, isn't? It gives off a nice vibe. Another cool feature is that the theme is constantly rotating according to the time of day. Neato! Download the theme here.

Oh yea, I'm using the Mega Man theme myself. It's been there for a long time now. ^^

It shifts to different robot master themes, the Robot Master on the left side, and Rock on the right.
And an extra theme where the 20th Anniversary wallpaper for Rockman is shown with blue background.

I spotted Mega Man 2 for the iPhone... wow, the game engine is so floaty. No gravity.
When damaged, Rock flies a long distance away, and he jumps very high too. XD

Apparently, this game takes the dubious honor of being the worst Mega Man game ever made. Ironic that is spawns from what many consider to be the best Mega Man game ever made.

Well, there's the other version with the shrunken petite sprites.
The version with Roll-chan stayed in Japan. But who knows... ^^

Oh, how I wish.  Blowing away a pogo-stick cyclops with a single charged shot.  Roll has never been more badass.  I'd kill to be able to play that.

I bought the game. I have played it, and I myself can say it's almost virtually unplayable. Floaty MegaMan, bad touch control system. Just got up to the first level of the set of Wily Castle levels on easy mode.

Though while not worth the money, as a MegaMan fan, I had to buy it just to see it as an app on my iphone. :)

This is my current iphone wallpaper.
