Rockman Series / Re: How would a 3D Mega man work?
« on: January 15, 2012, 04:43:29 AM »
People actually finding good things about X7 mystify me, and this is coming from someone who enjoys X6 quite a bit. XD

Let's just say for my case, it took a while for me to like X7 a lot.  I initially thought that X7 was fair at best after I cleared the game and retired from playing it for a while.  But after I eventually decided to play it on hard, tested a few things, and I eventually won against Red on Hard perfectly, I truly appreciated and loved Megaman X7 a lot.

Okay, it took some digging, but I found the quote from Sven that I was looking for.  Granted, this is way back in December 2010 (you know, back when Legends 3 was real):

"Actually, it looks like there's an IP risk on one of the titles so the IP group won't let us re-release it on PSN. We've been trying to see if we can't get that resolved but it's going to take a long time."

*voice actor discussion among the members*

"The issues I'm speaking of are not audio related but I can't elaborate more unfortunately."

http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/26463829/Progress_on_getting_the_Mega_Man_Legends_series_to_PSN

So, some middleware issue, I guess?

This is exactly why I came up with the possibility of the "Action Man" name in Legends 1 and the trivia in Legends 2 as potential IP problems for future rereleases of Legends 1 and Legends 2.

From what Sven said, voice acting is not the main reason why Legends 1 and 2 was not released.  Come to think of it, I thought it was Seth Killian who mentioned this.  I guess I got Sven and Seth confused.

If it was visual related, then I don't see any resemblances of any object that infringes other IPs.  The rereleases of Legends 1 and Legends 2 during 2009 in Japan are evident of this.

If it were hardware/software issues, then going by that logic the PSP rereleases of Legends 1 and Legends 2 in Japan should not have occurred.

As a fan who played Legends 1 and Legends 2, I am also flustered by why and how both of these games were not rereleased.  However, I'll have to face facts that Capcom is not willing to make or release anymore Legends games anytime soon for whatever reason they come up with.

I highly doubt MML1 was barred from re-release because of the Action-Man thing (Its not like there is a character with his likeness, its just a name.)
The MML2 deal might be it, but again, I doubt it. Its not like the game has samples of the Songs included, its just names, unless some company is going to jump down Capcom's neck because "OMFG YOU USED OUR SONG NAME IN A TRIVIA THING I SUE YOU", it wouldn't be an issue.

Also I like how you pretty much posted the same thing in this and a necro'd thread that should've stayed dead. But I digress.

As its already been stated it was probably because of the voice acting.

The voice acting is indeed a major issue.

But the name thing might also be a factor.

*Points to the Boxer in Street Fighter II whose name in Japan is M. Bison and name in the U.S. is Balrog due to the potential of Mike Tyson suing Capcom for name likeness.

*Also points to the following thread concerning the Battle Network 6 Aquaman.EXE name to Spoutman:

I did some research about the IP issue.  I already mentioned this in another thread recently, but I just realized what the VP probably meant.

First, let's view Legends 1:

Watch this video how to get the X Buster (skip to 7:31 for my point), watch short process for getting the comic book, and watch the short dialogue from Jim before giving the comic book:

Does something Jim said look familiar to some of you?  It probably does.  For those who don't, here is a link to read:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_Man

I don't know if anyone here knows about Action Man, but it is an IP name trademarked by a different company.

Let's move on to Legends 2:

The quiz from the Pokte Village in Manda Island with its music and real life trivia is filled with IP names by other companies or famous people.

As much as I hate to admit it, rereleasing Megaman Legends 1 and Megaman Legends 2 is not an option unless the following occurs:

1.  Alter the comic book and what Jim says about it is altered.  A YouTube comment in the Legends 1 video brought up that the comic book in the American version is actually an adult magazine in the Japanese version.  Changing the already changed won't be so bad after all.

2.  Alter the questions in the quiz to where the Mayor or her students ask about Megaman game history, characters, story, or gameplay.

Otherwise, a remake of both games might be ideal for the best.  There is a high chance of that not happpening considering Capcom's history.

55
Go [tornado fang] yourself.

OK, now that we have that retard out of the way...

A Legends HD remake would probably have to be the best way to handle it. Sadly Legends has aged quite a bit. Legends 1 even more so than 2. An additional problem lays in another component as well. Legends cant be re-released without licensing issues. Not just is there the issue of paying someone else, it is WHO do you pay? The company may not exist anymore, offering a whole host of other issues.

I'm going to presume this is the voice acting for the USA version, since they re-released DASH and DASH2 on PSP a while back.

So the solution? Redo the gameplay, and possibly the voice acting? Capcom will never agree to this. It would soak up too much capital, especially when they don't Legends 3 as good enough to hit the shelves. Of course we all know it's just a power play against Inafune, but even so.

The only way Legends 1 and 2 can be re-released with high public interest and appreciation is if they updated both graphics and gameplay; gameplay especially in this case. I don't think it will happen, but I will be happy to support the idea regardless. It is the right solution if a re-release were to happen. Honestly, if they played their cards right, the Legends 3 engine could easily make a Legends 1 and Legends 2 remake (in 3D no less!).

MegaMan Legends 3D Collection

Now that I think about it, I think that there are trademark/licensing issues that are possible.

Legends 1 has the "Action Man" comic book that must be given to Jim for the X Buster.  As some may know, Action Man is already trademarked by a different company.

Legends 2 has the quiz by the Mayor at Manda Island that has a lot of names of songs, titles, music artists, movie stars, and other famous people.  Many of these names are already trademarked.

Knowing the U.S. and its very vague trademark laws, as much as I hate to admit it, rereleasing Megaman Legends 1 and 2 is no longer an option.  Legends 1 and Legends 2 must be remade just like Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X was.

Edit:  I changed the copyright parts to trademarks.

I too think that the logo looks pretty good.  However, I don't have my hopes up for anything significant happening in the 25th anniversary after everything that occurred last year.

First off, I'll say that I am one of the few people who openly admits to liking Megaman X7 a lot, despite its limitations.

That said, a 3D Mega Man game can work if the following occurred:

1.  The game constantly ran at 60FPS with no slowdowns.
2.  The camera functions properly (e.g., Legends 1 and 2; the fight against Red in X7.  Not the trainwreck of a camera in Boarski's boss arena in X7.)
3.  Playtesting is key.
4.  Potential patches.
5.  No glitches or bugs that could negatively affect the game.

X / Re: The Exploitables -- X Edition!
« on: December 06, 2011, 05:09:01 AM »
In X8, I like X in the Neutral Armor for his looks and those cool-looking white shoes.  I also appreciate the armor's abilites a lot.  For example, I usually use Head Parts H, Body Parts I, Unequipped Buster Parts, and Foot Parts I for X.  I like exploiting this setup against Sigma and Lumine as shown in the following video I recorded and uploaded in my previous YouTube Channel:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGQEMA-SAy4

In Command Mission, I love Marino for her beautiful looks.  I also like exploiting this Mega Man X game with her the most.  For equipment, I like having Marino use a weapon with high attack plus 2 generators.  For Force Metals, I equip her with Cutting Edge, a metal that increases power, and preferrably End to All.  Once I combine all of these with her Quicksilver Hyper Mode, a few hyper-related items, and a special move she gains at level 30, I turned Marino from an average female ninja into an absolute killing machine.  Just view the following videos I made in my current YouTube channel for some examples:

Marino PWNS Duckbill Mole:

The more that I look at these alternate DLC costumes, the more that I have come to believe that Zero is wearing X's regular armor, probably with Zero's face instead of X's.

I did it again, but I replaced Massimo with Cinnamon this time.  Here is the link to the updated video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO3NNSpcSKs

I also updated the first post just in case.

I think the Red Lotus Saber, you got from Fourtails (don't recall if you got it as a reward, or had to steal it from him.)

As for what you got from Ninetails, all I can recall is that you got the Ancient Gun from him.

You are correct about Fourtails and Ninetails.  The following items also apply to both of these bosses:

Steal Build Hyper
Drop Figure Token

As far as build hypers go, there are only 12 of them in the game, so use them wisely.

I think that having the "Mad Cocktail" move might have something to do with it as well.

DASH / Re: Carbon Reinitialization
« on: August 06, 2011, 08:06:53 AM »
I think that the carbon reinitialization program involves a specialized laser that reduces the carbons into cyber elves, stores the cyber elves in the satellite, and reincarnates the cyber efl population into completely different carbonated copies of humans of once lived (Wily the boat man might be exempt from being changed considering his name and all.)

63
If Botos or Cinnamon were to put into words what just happened, they would say this (and something that I would probably say too):

"Oh No!"

I had a feeling this would happen, but not this soon.

I feel that a little part of me died on the inside with the cancellation.  I hope that Capcom is aware that they blew any chances of putting the Mega Man games back into the mainstream spotlight.

The Haunted Grounds stage theme from Gauntlet Dark Legacy would work well with a creepy Sigma form (Sigma's first forms in X4 and X6 come to mind.)

I forgot to add Eddy Gordo's Tekken 3 theme working with the Rafflesian battle as well.

Lacuna Coil - Swamped

Hopefully their upcoming album will rival the masterpieces of In a Reverie, Unleashed Memories. and Comalies because Karmacode and Shallow Life were only good at best.

I don't think anyone cared if you were lying or not.

It was how Kharaxel quoted me.  If he just quoted the second part of my X7 sentence, then I would have only gotten the impression that he only referred to graphics itself and not necessarily why I got back into X7.

Fair enough?

That said, I got back into playing Gauntlet Legends for the PS1.  The graphics were not best and the gameplay was nowhere near the level of the arcades, but I appreciate the nostalgia and music of the game.

*Checks the board atmosphere, A-Transes into Mettaur Gigant, and runs away.

You aren't serious, are you? Graphics in this game were [parasitic bomb] even when it first came out.
HA HA, OH WOW!

I was serious when I said liked Mega Man X7 and its graphics whether you want to believe me or not.  Oh, and if anyone doubted about my first statement about X7, watch this video that I completed and uploaded into my YouTube channel.

Enjoy the video.  *Bows down and leaves.

Absolutely awesome, i feel like playing this game again, THANKS!

Thanks for the comment.  In fact, I just did something better against Ninetails.  I finally won against him without using hypers.  In addition, no characters were rotated, no party member died, and the final strike was successful.  Each member was at level 44 at the time.  Here is the YouTube link from my channel if anyone wants to see it (watch it at 480p for best results.)

I also embedded this video on the first post too to help others find it easier.  Finally, I updated the thread title to reflect my new record.

Mega Man games:

Mega Man X7.  Beating Red without taking damage using all of the characters on hard sealed my love for this game.  The excellent graphics put icing on a sweet cake.

Mega Man X8.  I love X's Neutral Armor, the navigators, Sigma, the rock music, and the graphics so much that I am not letting this game go.

Mega Man X Command Mission.  I love using X, Marino, and Massimo to hunt down Mavericks.  Beating Ninetails is so much fun under special conditions.

Non-Mega Man games:

Gauntet Dark Legacy.  I played this game every since it came out in the arcades in 1999 and still play it from time to time even today.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (both versions).  I love using Mega Man Volnutt and Casshern in these games.  It is like an addiction for me.

Iron Maiden's "Different World" would work in a Mega Man X intro stage quite well.

Forest Law's Tekken 3 arrange theme would fit in a fight against Rafflesian in Mega Man X Command Mission.

73
Here is the fight that I recorded, completed, and uploaded into my YouTube channel.  I did not need hyper modes at all.  In fact, all characters survived.  Each character was at level 44.  Watch it in 480p for best viewing results.

Here is my previous video:

Edit:  I also accomplished the following challenges in the above videos:

-  No character rotations/substitutions
-  Final strike against Ninetails accomplished

For those who didn't see my previous record of not needed the second hypers and Quicksilver, here is the link of the video that started it all for me:

Favorite villian:  Sigma from the Mega Man X series.  He just got the BA charisma, looks, charm, and fighting techniques that made me like and respect him.

Other honorable mentions:

Geese Howard, Wolfgang Krauser, and Mr. Big from the KOF Series:  The big three SNK bosses long before Rugal existed with the Genocide Cutter.  Each of the three had unique techniques that made them fearsome opponents.

Rugal from the KOF series:  Of course I can't forget about that fact that I like Mr. Genocide Cutter himself.  His attire and moves are just too cool.

I have a few more, but I am still debating in my mind right now on who I should post.
