Entertainment / Be Seeing You...RIP Patrick McGoohan
« on: January 15, 2009, 05:42:56 AM »
Well, along with the death of Ricardo Montalban, I just found out that another one of Sci-Fi's greatest contributors, Patrick McGoohan, has passed away as well.  Man, what a tragic tragic day.

For those of you who don't know, McGoohan starred in one of the most classic, most cultish, and easily most awesome TV Miniseries ever created called The Prisoner.  I have this show on DVD, and it's easily one of my favorite shows ever.  You might not know the show, but most likely you've seen in spoofed many a time, and might not have even known it, like in The Simpsons or ReBoot!  If you are a fan of the surreal, the strange, and the awesome, I highly highly HIGHLY recommend this series to you.

Gaming / Protect Missions: The Unbridled Joy
« on: January 11, 2009, 06:57:49 AM »
Are you like me?  Do you ever play a game and think to yourself, "You know what this game needs?  Someone or something to heroically and valiantly protect at the very cost of my own life."  That's right, Protect Missions.  Where would gaming be without them?  Nowhere, that's where!  Just a sad, non-protective waste of time.

While playing through Macross Ace Frontier, I stop just to wonder where's that Cat's Eye that needs me to get it through the atmosphere while being bombarded by an untold of amount of Missiles.  In Force Unleashed, I felt the Good Side of the Force while mindlessly Force Throwing General Kota to actually get him to follow me to my destination.  Lord knows how many FPS or 3-D Platformers in general would've been ruined without mindless, moronic, hopeless NPC's to take bullets for.  What a pleasure!  The same pleasure I get from hearing those cries of "STILL WAITING FOR YOUR SUPPORT" from the hundreds of soldiers waiting for ONLY me to save them in ZOE2.  And Slippy...god bless his wart covered hide!  When he thanks me for the save, my heart feels a whole lot fuller.

This is why I think whenever they make a Superman game, they should follow the philosophy of just making it one giant joyful protect mission.  Having to make sure not to use too much power when landing, or fly through a building, killing innocents.  THAT'S the Superman game I want to play!

So, RPM.  Feel free to tell us about your fun times with Protect Missions, and how much happiness they've brought you!   8D

Original / MM9 - The Ambitious Choice of Protoman Blues
« on: December 27, 2008, 07:13:17 AM »
So here's the deal.  Every year, since 1989, my Dad likes to make a CD (before it was a tape) of music that comprises of important and memorable events which have occurred throughout the year.  Since he knows MM9 was a HUGE thing for me this year, I now have to choose which song from MM9 is going to go on this CD.

Up above, as you can see, I have set up a poll of my choices.  I do love the entire MM9 soundtrack, but for right now I have selected these 9 tracks for the CD.  So, perhaps all of you can help me choose.  I mean, it's possible I'll eventually decide for myself, but hey I thought I might have some fun, PB Style.   8)

Vote away, RPM!

WARNING!  WARNING!

LoL, it was bound to happen.  Anyway, pretty much the same as the Robot Master Design Thread.  As we've stated before, we all have created our own Mavericks in the past.  In fact, some of us have created the EXACT SAME MAVERICK that Capcom totally stole out of their sexcellent brain!  Now here is your chance to show them off to the populace of RPM.

You know what?  Screw the rumor shields.  This is RPM, and it's time to let our shameless fanboy and fangirl selves go batshit crazy!  We're just going to Fanboyishly ASSUME that the Inafking is making MM10 & MM11 and that the Coro Coro MM Boss Design is intended for just that purpose.  So, in response to that, it's time for you, our fun loving imaginative members, to design your own Robot Masters.

Some of you have done it in the past, and others still continue to do it to this day, whether seriously or hilariously.  Well now this topic is here, to compile all of your hard work and great/awesome/silly/scary/downright insane Robot Master ideas.  In the spirit of the old MM6 Robot Master Nintendo Power design contest, what I suggest is not only posting your design, their abilities, and what weapon Rock shall get, but also post a funny catch phrase as well to go along with it.  If you have an art topic already in which you have drawn or sprited RM already, feel free to link them to that page or post them here as well.  I think it'd be nice to just post them here so we have an RPM stash of them.

Even I, who totally suck at drawing people, will attempt to draw some of my own ideas and post them in here.  So join me, RPM, in letting out your inner fanboy or fangirl.  Blindly assume that you are designing Robot Masters for MM10 & MM11 and let the fun begin.

Inafune Talks Mega Man Revival

According to this interview over at 1UP, provided by user Kyouya Garyuu, our dear lord and master of Mega Man, the Inafking himself, says that a MegaMan 10 and 11 are both a possibility in the future.

Quote
1UP: If the game is successful and you go on to make, say, Mega Man 10, what would you do to keep the game from being a rehash of previous Mega Man games?

KI: This title has been revived based on our users' feedback. They indicated that they wanted to see it again, so if we can continue to find ways to involve users and use their feedback to evolve the game, I think we can go on to continue to make MM10, MM11, and so on. The main point is how and if we can continue to incorporate user feedback into the creation of the game.

I bolded the part I found very interesting.  Recently it was discussed that a new issue of Coro Coro was talking about a Boss Design contest of some sorts, if I'm not mistaken.  Could this be the signs of a Boss Design contests of old, in which we the user get back to our fanboyish and fangirlish roots and start designing Robot Masters again?

Either though my Rumor Shields are up to Max, I gotta say this Photon Torpedo of information has them weakening like the shameless Classic MM fanboy that I am.  Could MM10 & MM11 be a possibility?  Will we see more Playable Blues or even Playable Roll?  Perhaps the long overdue return of Tango?

LoL, who knows.  Also, the article goes onto discuss more interesting bits of Capcom news which you may or may not find interesting.  Enjoy, fellow shameless MM fans.

Thanx to Kyouya Garyuu for the PM, 1UP for the interview, and the Inafking for...well MegaMan in general!   8)

Gaming / Hanna Barbera vs. Capcom
« on: December 19, 2008, 11:20:35 PM »
As some of us were watching Vixy kick ze ass in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom on her live JTV channel ( 0v0 you Vixy), an interesting idea popped up in there, which I thought I'd bring here to RPM as well.  Well, since we all know that there's virtually NO chance of TvsC coming here, we were thinking what could be the US equivalent of this game?  Whereas I thought of an 80's/90's Cartoons vs. Capcom, so I could get my Thundercats fix, Taiyo actually came up with a more logical and probable idea, that being Hanna Barbera vs. Capcom.

I mean, think of the possibility.  Despite Shaggy & Scooby being in the game, HB has created A LOT of heroes over the years.  Space Ghost, Birdman, Mightor, The Herculoids (dunno how that would work), The Centurious, The Swat Kats, Dexter, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, The Galaxy Trio, Captain Caveman, El Kabong, and some that I've probably forgetting.  Hell, Dick Dasterdly could be behind the whole thing.  I mean, why the [tornado fang] not?

I think this would be the best US version of TvsC that we could hope for.  Plus, Capcom has a plethora of characters they can use for this game as well in place of all of their TvsC characters.  Perhaps Blues or Dante?  Maybe X instead of Trigger?  Cephi suggested Ken instead of Ryu, due to Ken's USitude.  I think the game definitely has possibilities.

So, I thought for fun, why don't we come up with our own moveset & supers for some of the Hanna Barbera characters that we would want to see in the game?  LoL IF YOUR READING THIS CAPCOM, MAKE IT HAPPEN!   8D

Just a sad day all around it seems.

First Lady of Star Trek Passes Away

Majel Roddenberry, wife of Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, passed away today.  She has been the voice of the Computer in every Star Trek series.  She also was Nurse Chapel in the original series, and Lwaxana Troi (Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, and Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed) in The Next Generation and I believe one episode of DS9.  It's funny, but whenever I thought of computers in the future, I would always imagine her being the voice of them, due to my Trekish upbringing.

May she Rest in Peace with Gene in the Holodeck!

Comic Jam / CJ014 - Board Games: With A Vengeance
« on: December 01, 2008, 07:54:24 AM »

This was something I drew a while ago, but never bothered posting due to the fact that we had so many Comic Jams already that weren't going anywhere.  This idea spawned from me cleaning one day, and noticing some of my old favorite Board Games just sitting there.  Sorry, Monopoly, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, and others.  It got me to thinking how Video Games and the net might have ruined Board Games forever.  Then, it got me to thinking, what if Board Games, under the leadership of Rich Uncle Pennybags, decided to issue a challenge to Video Game Worlds/Fansites, like RPM, inviting them to their Board Gaming doom, hence the title of this Comic Jam (lovingly borrowed from Die Hard: With A Vengeance as well).  My mind works in sick and twisted ways, like this!   8D

LoL, I don't know if this will actually go anywhere, but for all those who'd like to participate, think of your favorite Board Games, like Sorry, Trouble, The Game Of Life, Candy Land, Mouse Trap, Chutes and Ladders, Monopoly, or any others you can think of, and simply have fun with this by putting yourself or others into any one of these separate Board Game worlds.

Either way, enjoy!   8)

Well, I've been meaning to revive this topic for a while now, although I wish it was under better circumstances though.

Fox Abandons Saturday Morning Cartoons in 2009

Sigh...

Once again, this is truly showing the end of an era.  I mean granted, Fox Kids has been pretty unwatchable for a long time now, but still, Protoman Blues just got a little nostalgic and remembered all the great times he had watching Fox Kids, back in the day.  Hell, even before Fox Kids on Saturday Mornings, Fox was a great place for cartoons.  Fox were the original channels of Thundercats, Batman: The Animated Series, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, X-Men, as well as such other gems like Eek the Cat, Bobby's World, Power Rangers, and probably others which I am forgetting at this point in time.  Sure, they had their ups and downs, but it was still a great place for kick ass cartoons back in the day.  But now, as of next year, Saturday Morning Cartoons on Fox will be replaced with Infomercials or other such non-Sat. Morning Cartoon goodness.  There's a part of me which is glad to see it put out of it's misery, but still, it's pretty sad considering what it once was.

*raises up Glass of Mango Lemonade* So here's to you, former Fox Saturday Morning Cartoon run.  Thanx for making Saturday Mornings more enjoyable and bowls of Honey Nut Cheerios taste better with your glorious run throughout the years of my childhood.

Greetings to one and all RPM Members from you Friendly Neighborhood Protoman fanboy! Today I have the fun pleasure of introducing to you a silly idea that Vixy and I came up with for RPM. Can you guess what it is? Oh wait...the title pretty much says it all doesn't it? 8)

That's right though. Today your RPM staff brings to you RPM Theme Weeks and RPM Holidays. The basic premise of it is simple enough. Basically, over the course of the year, we will be bringing you silly and fun theme weeks and holidays to celebrate in all our nerdish glory. Well, here we are.  Due to popular demand...or simply because a couple of members mentioned the idea and it tickled my heavily ticklish fancy, I, Protoman Blues, have decided to work on creating Rockman Perfect Musical: The Musical For Everlasting Peace!  This will not be a part of my normal GoRPM's, as this is separate.  It's probably just as silly, and most of the songs will be the always fun, always silly, always catchy parodies that you should be use to reading from Parodying Blues (still PB) after all this time.

I haven't quite fleshed out the story just yet, but the basic premise is that RPM is under attack from an Evil Sonic the Hedgehog fansite called the Scrap Brain Zone.  The members of RPM must repel this evil attack or all will be lost.  I'm using one RPM member as my main hero, but I'm not telling you who it is yet.  That will be revealed later on, as will the majority of whatever crazy, random, twisted story I manage to come up with.

For now though, I shall start using this thread to post the Songs that you will hear in this musical.  Can't have a musical without songs.  Well, you could, but it would suck-diddily-uck.  Just so you know, these songs are not in the order that they will appear in the completed musical.

Great...as if Ninja Lou needed any more reason to be excited about this game!   8)

I'll let someone else come up with a description for the game, which I'll put in this post.  Perhaps someone more fanboy or fangirlish!  XD

News and Announcements / Blues...er Mega Man 3 Now Available on US Wii VC
« on: November 10, 2008, 06:05:41 PM »
That's right all you classic fans.  Set your Virtual Consoles to Stunned, cause Mega Man 3 is now available for all your Classic NES Mega Man Downloading pleasure.  MegaMan 2 is still my favorite, but I consider this to be the best classic Mega Man game out of them all.

According to our darling, sexy Vixy, her Rockman 3 VC game still has all of the fun glitches the original had, like the Super Jump, which I think is pretty awesome right there.

So, RushJet over to your Wii and download this for everlasting peace.

YaY, our first news post since the Crash!   8D

Fan Creations / The Galaxy of Rockman Perfect Memories

You know, I thought about changing this topic's name to The Universe of Rockman Perfect Memories, but I like the way GoRPM (GO RPM!) sounds.  Although, if you say UoRPM like (YOU OWE RPM!), that could be fun and very Nekomatish!   8D

Anyway, onto the glory.  Huzzah, Hurray, and [tornado fang] Yeah!  The Galaxy of Rockman Perfect Memories is the prince of all Saiyans once again.  Well, it will be when I start posting more in here.  I'll probably have a new one in store for you tomorrow, regarding the crash.  LoL, we'll see.

But for now, I have something special for you all! (well, special if you actually think I can sing)   8D

PB Sings Away Message Zone

My voice is a little worn out from last night's party I went too, so I might try making a better version at another date.  Anyway, enjoy!   8)
