(Wow, didn't realize reading 57 pages would take at least 3 days...  :o

Anyway, since we're so far into the story, can I still join in with a hero character? I already have a backstory connected to him, just need a little space to set him up. Otherwise, I'll settle for a small enemy character.)

Kinda the point why I asked for a straight rip of the OST/Game Version, which IS on there. Either it is, or the .mp3 X8 OST rip on the Megaman Network threw that in as a bonus. For this trick with Audacity/*insert sound edit program here* to work, they recommend the cleanest, otherwise the vocals are still present, only muffled. I've tried this with straight .mp3s and that conversion, and so far that's the problem.

But, this is just an idea for gaining fans if my fandub group gets beyond Megaman Zero, plus something to do once I'm done with playing catch-up.

Besides, THIS

My turn!

Can anyone offer a .wav of "Wild Fang" from MMX8's soundtrack? One of PB's "translation" videos gave me an idea, but I'll need a vocal-less version. (whichever comes first, vocalless or .wav)

What if there was a Rockman-related Gmod idiot box?

Rockman Series / Re: How did you get interested in Mega Man?
« on: June 17, 2010, 01:50:49 AM »
Funny thing is, my interest never began with the original series, and personally, I don't find them all that great. It all started during the SNES era, when I was about 4-5, and the first games I remember were Mega Man X and X3. Personally, it was like Dragon Ball Z in an even MORE futuristic setting, filled with things that go BOOM!! (Not that I was pro, hell I think I asked my dad a few times to beat a stage for me, and never beat the games until 2 years ago, cheat knowledge in hand).

Then, when the PS1 came around, and forced to choose between MM8 and MMX4. I told my dad, "I wanted the one with the ninja robot!" (Didn't really care if Zero was a guy or a girl, someone with a melee weapon going against thousands of soldiers gets an award in my book). Eventually, I got both, but Mega Man then..."Meh, it's okay."

Only when I bought the MMAC when it came out did I really play the classic series. Even though I promised my dad a race who could go through the series the fastest, lack of a wall jump and "old-school difficulty" put my young mind to go for MM7. And even then, it was as good as 8. Call me what you will, but in general, 16-bit>8-bit. Classic series is fun, don't get me wrong, but I've found a home with the X and Zero series.

What keeps me around, though, is the potential for what the series could be. If they do find a way to expose the series in the right light...pretty much my fantasy realised.

Oh yeah, besides the cable ponytail and booblights, I relate to Zero. A defective robot who eventually sets the world straight from an unsightly mutation?  Count me in!

...though until they de-pussify the hair and chest into something a little less like Ruroni Kenshin, I'm gonna dib Fef and Prometheus as mah mains. A guy can make up fanfics to make them look cool, right?  8D

« on: June 17, 2010, 12:19:48 AM »
God, I understand you SO WELL. I mostly watch only a few manga and anime, the ones that got most of the western style, and good stories. But most of the crap that's out there has such HORRIBLE dialogue and narration, and fits so incredibly into so many stereotypes, I honestly don't know why people still take it. Everything in high school, everything in martial arts, shinigami this and shinigami that, all relationships are awkward, all old men are perverts, all girls are cute and hot, and fit into a pre-disposed personality of quiet, clumsy and cute, or stupid bitches who keep complaining about everything. There are quite a few gems in anime and manga, but most of it is so derrivative, it makes me sick. Specially when pretty much every good book I read has a story that makes me question things, and makes my mind WORK instead of being in a friggin' vegetative state.
I know where you're coming from. Anime, from when it used to be innovative from Gundam to Dragon Ball, is now starting to become dull. But hey, we're the ones who are gonna need to fund the new generation...

Also, it's kinda funny that the "old, pervy guy" is thinning out in Real Life, leaving it to young nerd otakus.
And the good comics we know and love might not last for long...see: Spider-Man 3.
All in all, we need to try to get away from building on the old, and focus more on shocking new IPs, back in the REAL old days with "Native Son" and "Catcher in the Rye". Not to say we're almost dead, see: Sam Fisher and his set of novels.

P.S. - File my under one of the guys who don't seem bright on their feet, too. Capable of a 25 on an ACT on the first try, but dull as hell in a RL conversation.

Zero / Re: Rockman Zero Collection Thread

Well, case decided, I just found the other set of concept work, and combined with his entirely different set of concept work shown here, along with the original sprite sheet...

However, there are two still there even with one gun out, which may still mean they might be decorative, or even hollow.

Of course, now I realise I'm just rambling. Unless he's gonna guest star with the other 3 guardians in MvC3, guess there's no point.

But Capcom would've really got a boost in my book if they gave just a small touchup. I mean, they had the power to add 1 sprite to Ciel, for Pete's sake...  o-O

Hey, can someone get me some X-series sound effects, such as shooting and dashing and stuff, in an archive? I need it for a secret project. WAV format for the sounds would be preferred, but I can just convert it if they're in some other format.
I can give you X1 sound effects, but it would take some time to sort them out. If you have the guts to do them yourself, you can check out Capcom's official soundtrack to X1, it has the whole list in .mp3 format.

I'll offer a download link once I'm done, though, the file's too huge for my email. :\

Zero / Re: Rockman Zero Collection Thread

Then see the previous video I posted, which doesn't bother showing the fin, even though he's using one gun during his fight with Omega during the cutscene shot of Fef, Levi, and Omega.

And yes, Copy X may have some "inconsistencies", but the transition between MMZ1 and 3 gave some time for an upgrade. Besides, it's hard to convey a head sprite to match all the curves of a helmet.

Fefnir, however, has no upgrades (except the armed phenomenon, which might work like a plug for the stubs on his back), and is basically a war machine. If he officially had those stubs, he's lucky Zero hasn't discovered the Z-Knuckle and use it for a grappling finisher. If Fefnir can summon a gun from thin air, what's to say he didn't teleport it in from his local troop camp off in the distance? Even though I don't have a copy of the Official Works, I'm sure it's the preferred model compared to the sprite, even if it might be a retcon if Inafune decides to make a Mega Man fighting game.

Zero / Re: Rockman Zero Collection Thread

Reason #1: He levels bases, cities, pretty much anything that his "God" commands. And that "God" is Copy X.

Reason #2: He like to get personal with his grabs, and he suplexes you to the ground if given the chance.

But yeah, the more you analyze him, the less witty word puns work, and the more the name "Nemesis" would.
SERIOUSLY CAPCOM, CHANGE HIS NAME NAO!! :O

...would make sense why he and Leviathan don't have much use as plot devices. Besides, nobody would catch on to "fire and ice" dragons!  8D

Zero / Re: Rockman Zero Collection Thread

If you've played through MMZ1 and got to his mission on A/S rank, he used a special attack where he launched fireballs in the sky and "rain" onto the ground. He summoned an extra gun out of thin air to do it, and it disappears once he's done. Combine it with the "Fafnir, the vengeful dragon" vibe they were going for, and you get the embodiment of fire.

So, that's where the Sodom and Gomorrah reference comes from (he's a Demoman, he levels bases after all 8D ), and those wings from his sprite probably came from a compromise between the 2 concept arts before the official one.

Though if they named him "Mass-Produced Tyrant 3000", I'd have no complaints. Just look at his "fists"! XD

Hmm...surprised no one brought up La-Mulana. You know, that game heading to WiiWare, that started out as freeware? Similar to MetroidVania?

Anyway, here's the download if you wanna check it out:

X1: The perfect (yet "easy") experience, enhanced by Hadokens!
MHX: Replace "Hadoken" with "Shining Finger!!", and you get the X series' first "Plot-centric" game!
X2: Green Biker Dude you will be missed, would've like to see you in MHX2.
X3: If there's Vile, there's trouble (and broken windows, and water tanks...)!
X4: If those cutscenes didn't have VA straight from the earliest Zombie games, they would've been cutting-edge.
X5: Only Guns 'n' Roses would've saved Zero from a perfectly-timed death...oh wait, if he's alive, then...
X6: "You get NOTHING! You LOSE! Good day, sir!"
X7: Stop it (Capcom)!
X8: Saved by getting back to basics (and Boba- err, VAVA!)
XCM: Capcom knows how to make a game good to play, but that script...would've, could've, sunnuva'd.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSqWRkmOlZw&feature=related - Megaman Zero 3, the intro stage. Watch when Zero enters the boss room.

See those studs when Fefnir is kneeling? Those "wings"? Now, when artwork pops up in the same scene, the wings aren't there, replaced by 2 vents instead. Also, if you look at his spritework for his gun, compared to official artwork...

His hand is underneath his gun, rather than sandwiched between them. You'd think Capcom would've noticed.  :\

Ciel sounds kinda cute, though a little too quiet.
I didn't know how to bump audio while I was making that, and once I did, I made the upgrade. So...  >3<

At least that won't happen when I finally mix the episode! owob

Another update, finally...and now, the prologue!
http://www.youtube.com/v/uZq5tvd-0xU&hl=en_US&fs=1&
It's not much, but it'll do for now due to a recent Custom Windows 7 Update (which eliminated PInnnacle Studio, leaving me more time to understand Adobe software). Zero VA Koichi and Ry-Guy still hasn't given me lines, but thanks to spending some time with Adobe Soundboard, I've already mixed the intro running sequence.

So, progress-wise, here's the list:
Video - 100% - for this episode, taking it one episode at a time
Sound - 20% - finished the intro chase scene, and almost scene 1, but planning to cut some lines for something a little easier
Lines - 80% - have plenty of extras, but Zero's missing (Koichi, Ry-Guy...), and a couple others just skipped out (but I have the lines I can work with for them)

As for a deadline, I'm hoping this saturday will be it (At I'll promise I'll put in the sfx are in by then -u-' )

Speaking of inconsistencies, does Fefnir's concept art match his spritework now? I swear to god, those wing stubs drive me nuts...

I GET IT, CAPCOM. He's based off of a dragon. Now will you keep the frikkin' motif or just make him into a futuristic Tyrant from Resident Evil?  B(

Personally, I wouldn't mind joining a writing contest. Granted, I don't WRITE my fanfiction ideas, but at school when I need to, I usually pull off A-worthy essays for having a goal in mind, as well as a topic. Would help get some practice when I decide to write original scripts...

...though editing, that's another story. And something I should REALLY work on!  -u-'

Put me on the bandwagon! But even though I just checked that the episodes are on Adult Swim, the play button won't show up!
