Title: Colonel and Iris
Post by: Waifu on September 02, 2013, 04:29:52 AM
I asked in a PM a few years earlier why couldn't Colonel and Iris become the ultimate warrior? How was X able to bridge the gap where both siblings failed?

Colonel & Iris

At one time, the Repiforce Troop Special Research Division undertook a secret project
to develop the ultimate repliroid. They believed that to combine high combat ability and
a warrior's pride with a heart that loves peace would create the ultimate officer.
However, these traits proved too contrary to combine, so instead the program was
divided to create 2 repliroids. The proud skillful warrior became the Colonel, and the
gentle-hearted soul was called Iris. Sharing more than five tenths of the same program,
the 2 have a unique mental bond and feel protective towards one another.

Colonel is the young model officer of the Repliforce, and older brother of Iris. An expert
swordsman, he and Zero appear evenly matched. Widely respected by his fellow
soldiers, he takes great pride in his office. In order to protect the Repliforce during their
move to outer space, he guards the spaceport.

Iris is the girl robot who works as an operator for the Irregular Hunters. She has fallen in
love with Zero, who had saved her life. She also feels a deep bond with her brother
Colonel, and does her best to prevent the two from fighting, despite being on opposite
sides. Secretly she dreams of living in a world run by repliroids, together with Zero and
her brother. But after Colonel is killed by Zero, she comes to the point of battling her
beloved.
Normally Iris's combat power is considerably lacking, but when she battles Zero, she
installs the memory chip of the Colonel. As their developers had planned, Iris became a
repliroid with ultimate combat efficiency. However, the parts of her program which were
still contradictory began to cause rejection symptoms to occur. Iris lost the ability to
handle the awesome power, and went out of control. Is there any way for Zero to rescue
Iris without destroying her?

But who was it to

It was Zan and Hypershell.

Because Light technology.
Well, that's pretty much it.  If Neo Arcadia a century or two later couldn't get a copy of X to work right, then I don't see how 21XX scientists could pull it off.

Well, that's pretty much it.  If Neo Arcadia a century or two later couldn't get a copy of X to work right, then I don't see how 21XX scientists could pull it off.

I remember the hilarious 'Light is the biggest [dark hold] ever' stuff, but seriously. Doctor Wily's Zero outlived X, technically, but then Neo Arcadia was apparently able to replicate a weaker version of his original body that was still, with Zero's true soul and intent powering it, fully capable of taking down Omega/the original. X? No one ever even tried to directly copy his design like the Black Zero copy and copy body in the Zero series, all the Reploids were merely based off his design and yet it took being completely and utterly immobile for his body to finally be destroyed for real. Even then, his soul was powerful enough to continue on until he finally decided to rest after exhausting himself.

One could argue that as of the Zero series, the Reploids were finally able to be human-like enough that technically X's special factors weren't so unique anymore, and that only expanded in the ZX series to the point of Humans and Reploids being blurred. Yet singlehandedly, Doctor Light was still able to create the machine that not only inspired all of them, but lived only second-as-long to his best friend and still had a farther-reaching effect overall on the entire history of the world.

I know i'm just reiterating a lot of things we've gone over a million times before, but it took over two-hundred bloody years for anyone to finally begin properly moving on beyond replicating the past and actually advance Reploid technology in a meaningful and nonretarded way (COPY CHIPS). Colonel and Iris are certainly not exempt from trying to create the ultimate soldier via compassion and potential, much like X; it was practically asking to fail in that regard, judging by this series' standards, even if Repliforce never went AWOL.

Doctor Light is practically the forgotten God of robotics.

X is by no means the ultimate warrior. The combined form of Iris and Colonel embodies certain traits that someone like X lacks. It is instead the team of X and Zero which comes closest to the ideal.

403 Forbidden... ;^;

Eh...a little from column A and a little from column B, I think.  X and Zero form an interesting parallel to Iris and Colonel, this is true.  However, X does have the potential of growing and developing his own "Colonel side", if you will, on his own.  He did a damn good job of it in X6 and nearly as well in Command Mission.  Zero knows that, and I believe that's why he regards X as the superior hunter (X6).  Zero, by contrast, does not see himself as ever having the benefit of a compassionate point of view without someone else providing it for him, whether that someone else is X, Iris, Ciel, or anyone else.
