Title: GRAAAAAGHH!!
Post by: Psycho Yuffie on December 05, 2008, 07:19:17 AM
I have. I broke my arm in the first grade when I stupidly tried to use the monkey bars with mittens on. Yeah, I slipped right off of the bars, obviously, and landed right on my arm.

Also in first grade, I think I fracture one of my leg while jumping around at my house.

It was such a pain to crawl your way to the restroom...

Just on the broadside of the back, as in, "Hey, how are ya?".

Bones... No...
Ligaments... Yes, not too long ago too.

It's hell when every step you take, every move you make, the pain is killing you.

I've damaged a ligament in my pinky once and that was pretty painful. What's worse, though, is when your rip a tendon. Happened to me when I fell off my bike. A tendon under my knee ripped. To this day, I still can't kneel on it. It's too painful, even though it's healed now...

Knee?
For me it was my right knee, and like you, though it's healed, I can't squat properly/for too long.
I can't straighten it fully either.

I dunno, does having your jaw bone broken surgically count?

If not, then no.

How long has it been since? Unless a nerve or muscle got damaged, or a bone got lost or shattered, your bone should actually have grown back and stronger.

For the first few weeks it was.

Then the rest was just torture because I couldn't eat anything solid.

He didn't break a bone. He damaged a ligament. I tore a tendon. For me, it's been about three or four years.

In case people don't know:
Ligaments: connect muscles to other muscles
Tendons: connect a muscle to a bone

Injury was 2 years ago, surgery one year ago.
Not bone, the ligament.
The original was completely busted, so reconstructive surgery using a spare thigh muscle.
Though successful, and with physio, it will never be the same again.

I never had surgery. I was stupid and didn't go to the hospital until a few weeks after I fell. By then it had healed too much for them to do anything about it.

This... This is what I learned. Doctors are my friends. I'll never make this mistake again. I'm going to have a tender knee for the rest of my life because I was an idiot.

This. Having your 280+ pound best friend step on your foot [accidental setup] and full body tackle you backwards in a game of Rugby is sure to pull something out that'll keep you screaming for weeks. It's a miracle my foot didn't detach from my leg completely! Granted I have a weird pain tolerance, I just limped home and dealt with the swelling over my Christmas break in my senior year of high school.

I've only broken a bone once, but it was so painful I couldn't even try to move until about 10 or so minutes after the hit. I was playing with some friends on a trampoline years ago, I bounced and my shoulder goes straight to my friend's knee breaking my clavicle >_<

So painful...

Ugh, speaking about fractures makes me remember a certain INMENSELY painful Midway football game >_<

Kids, never jump off a tall fence in the complete dark while scavenger hunting during a (physical outdoor) game event.

That's my story. I had to stay crippled for about 3 days and had to travel home with a train in the same state too (carrying my gaming gear and sleeping bag and things. The leg healed a bit tho before my trip home, but when I took off my shoe, my socks was stained blood red when I got home).

I've never broken a bone however my older brother broke his left arm and a leg, I forgot which one.  He also had some kind of bump full of water in his chin, wheights fell above his head when he was 5, and has asthmah.  So yeah he has some bad luck in those sorts of things and romance.

Just because you don't remember it doesn't mean it doesn't count.  And you're supposed to capitalize every I and every first letter in a sentence and my should not be capitalized.

Also, little kids mend like brand new since they're mostly cartilage... So its technically like it never happened.

lol. also, this isnt a break, but it felt as painfull as one.
I tripped on the carpet and my foot basically kicked the floor full force, smashing my right big toe. it was just a bad sprain, but I swear to god I felt like I had broken it. and even now, it isnt the same anymore. when I flex it it clicks. and sometimes gets annoying when the weathers bad.

I cut the full length of my left thumb once with a pair of scissors, it was so sudden I didn't fell any pain till I actually saw the cut. I tore off the small flap of skin with my teeth so it wouldn't heal wierd and let it heal all on it's own (bandaids and disinfectants are for sissies). It was a quick recovery but I've got a little scar left over from it.

Well if you guys wanna talk about breaking bones and major injuries, I feel obliged to share a few of my own painful experiences.

This one time when I was about five, I pressed my entire left palm onto the bottom side of a heated iron. Needless to say it hurt a lot and the skin completely peeled off.

Another time when I was running on hard pavement, I tripped. Since I was wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt, I ended up scraping off the skin on my right elbow and both knees to the point were they were actually bleeding.

Another moment in my history of pain involved my left heel. I was in my room bored out of my mind because there was really nothing to due, so to alleviate this boredom I stared jumping around. Now let me say that the room was rather small and there really wasn't much space by brother's bed and my own. As it turned there was this extremely point or something coming out of my brother's bed. So during a particular energetic jump, I kicked my left foot back and end up slicing my entire left heel on that one point.

...

...

...you know now that think about it, I've done some royally dumbass things in my life.  -u-'

With the burn thingy, I had a similar experience... Except it was a muffler of a sit-down lawn mower. I don't really remember why I put my hand on it or what happened afterward, though. I was extremely young. But the memory of touching that muffler and the searing pain have been burned into my memory.
Title: Re: GRAAAAAGHH!!
Post by: Dr. Wily II on December 08, 2008, 06:43:08 AM
Wow, it drifted off to other injuries, well...

I broke my right big toenail at the pool, delayed treatment led to infection, led to the yanking out of the whole nail.
Cut the connecting flap of flesh on the thumb of my right hand, delayed treatment led to infection, which led to a painful disinfecting and stitches.
Both of these were results of... patroitric commintments... >_>

And when I was a lot younger, about 6-7 years old, I burnt my right leg with an iron that was cooling down.
The scab was shaped just like the iron... ;_;

I broke my arm when I was three months old, either my mother or my father was trying to bounce me on the water bed. The story changes with each house I go to.

I sprained an ankle so badly I had to wear a brace for two weeks.

Then, on the same foot, I chipped a rather large bone in my toe and had to wear one of those hideous medical shoes for a month.
