Title: Super Mario Bros. 3
Post by: VixyNyan on August 02, 2009, 08:10:08 PM
When I was away on a game meeting about a week ago, I wanted to play through Mario 3, every level without skipping them.
It might not look as fast as the world record or something, but I just wanted to have a video clip available for everyone to watch. ^^

SMB3 Full Run (single-segment)
Watch (http://www.rockmanpm.com/?p=mp4/smb3fullgame) | Double Size (http://www.rockmanpm.com/?p=mp4/smb3fullgame2x) | Download (http://www.rockmanpm.com/i/mp4/smb3fullgame.mp4)

http://www.rockmanpm.com/player/player.swf?file=http://www.rockmanpm.com/i/mp4/smb3fullgame.mp4

I think I did alright.
My first-ever mistake was at the very end of World 5, then things got a little tougher in the Lava Fortress level in World 7.
I have to do a better job next time. ^^

What happened in 7-5 is exactly why I never use that suit on land if I can help it :P

That second death in the Air Squadron Level in World 8 was WTF worthy.

Glitchtastic or a wrench was thrown at me I wasn't aware of. ^^;
Remember, this was played live in front of other people (meet-up/convent).
Mistakes happen. >U< </wii>

I want to watch this and comment, but can't so I'll say this:

World 7 had [sonic slicer] making levels. You knew rhey would screw with you, but you always came back for more. XD

Case in point, that deceptively simple seeming invincibility sprint across the floor of mini chomps.

I think I still have your very first attempt saved somewhere.

Hey Vixy, are there any stage differences between the US version and the Japanese version?

One difference is a black screen that loads up every level. Fade out, then fade in.
Oh, and of course the language. ^^;

Ah... I'd never actually seen the Japanese version played and I don't know the game all that well.

I see that it totally takes away all your powers if you get hit with a fireflower or super leaf, like Mario 1 US did...

I've been considering trying for something like this, but I got bored as soon as I hit World 3...

Mario 3 is more fun with someone to play with.

Hogwash and Baloney.  Listen, I've played SMB3 countless times too, as has Vixy and Hitomi, and without using the Flute it is impossible to beat that game in 30 minutes.

The best time is under 1 hours and 30 minutes.
A video at Speed Demos shows the All Stars version beat under that time.

If you want to spread that kinda pathetic bullshit, take it to GameFAQS.
I've probably been playing it longer than you've been alive, from the way you type.

Pssh, only 29 minutes? Wow, you people take forever. I beat it in 2. All I had to do is jump on Bowser when he comes down.

Alright... if you're that good, that means you can reproduce that on a regular basis, yes? Come back when you have a recording.
