The wraparound jacket band on the 20th volume of Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist manga will confirm on Friday that a new television anime series is in the works. A new anime series was a topic of much fan discussion for several months, but it was thrust into a more public spotlight last month when a management document was purportedly leaked from the BONES anime studio. The document listed Fullmetal Alchemist animator Yasuhiro Irie as "Hagane 2 kantoku" (Iron/Fullmetal 2 director).
Hopefully this won't drag out too long. If things last too long, they get boring. Look at Inuyasha.
....but that sucked to begin with, so...
I'm actually hoping this stays a little closer to the manga storyline.
Better example would be DBZ. Which graduallly got worse the longer it got.Funny you mention DBZ, that's another series that's gonna get a re-release this April (now in glorious HD and 50% less episodes! XD).

They're taking their sweet time w/ the Evangelion movies though...Screw that. I wanna watch Mustang [tornado fang]ing cremating Lust over and over and over again. :D
as for FMA 2, I will watch it from ep.1, but what I can't wait is when Wrath beats the [parasitic bomb] out of Greed 8D
Screw that. I wanna watch Mustang [tornado fang]ing cremating Lust over and over and over again. :D>_>
Is FMA2 an actual sequel series, or some kinda side-story/remake?
Ah. So Rets get Stalted, Ready Steady Go!
>_>Are you fukken nuts? That was one of the most epic scenes in the manga -- Mustang defeated, his ass kicked six ways through friday, and just about to be sent to the next county by Lust, and then he frickin' CARVES a transmutation circle on the back of his own hand with a piece of debris and goes "No [tornado fang]ing way I'm dying alone. If I'm going, you're coming with me" and starts pulverizing her with his fire alchemy -- if memory serves, he'd already cremated her around 65 times before I either stopped reading (because I couldn't find the manga anymore) or he got help, I don't remember which came first.
Remind me not to cross your path that often.

Man, I got a long way to go on the manga side and has it finished yet/ Anyway, FMA 2 must follow the manga or it will be just another sequel to a surprisingly annoying show.
I want the same lightheartedness that the manga had.
My most shocking moment in the manga?....Seing Envy's true form.
Holy [parasitic bomb]
(http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/2131/3637xp4.jpg)It's those [tornado fang]ing people on the side that got me...
Hell with all of that. I want to see more Greelin. He's the star of the show.

Nothing new to see here besides the ending song: 「嘘」 (Uso) by SID. And also a few shots of Winry.
Animax Asia's press release also confirmed the English name for the second Fullmetal Alchemist television series: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.Source (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-03-20/animax-asia-to-simulcast-fullmetal-alchemist/brotherhood-on-tv)
The OP is pure awesomeness. Definately kicks the [parasitic bomb] out of the godawful first OP of the first series and probably all other FMA OPs save for maybe Rewrite.
SHUT. YOUR. WHORE. MOUTH.
Spoilers for the new chapter
- The first line of the spoiler definitely is related to Roy vs Envy
- In theory, Roy should be burning him, however he transforms into Hughes, thinking that Roy wouldn't burn him
- Roy turns to him and shouts out: "Hughes is dead! He can't be here!"
- Envy manages to get out of the flames, and turns to face Riza
- Changes into Roy and calls her.
- Riza points her gun against Roy!Envy and calls her by name
- Riza turns to him and says: The colonel calls me Riza only if we are alone.
- Envy then replies: "You are that close?"
Roy is a [tornado fang]ing win
Meanwhile, let's talk endings. I love the new one & I Will/Motherland for God Tier in the old series. Agree? XD
You took the words out my mouth XD I really, really liked Melissa. Honestly, I like all of the OPs so much that I can't rank them =/Melissa is easily my favorite for various reasons.
This is gonna be oh so satisying to read XD
Agree with PB wholeheartedly!
Disagree!
Tobira No Mukuo E (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy4EkdzYAN0&feature=related) was EASILY the best ending song of Fullmetal Alchemist!

Am I the only one who thinks that the explaination of the backstory is done a little too fast? Didn't they push the contents of like 3-4 episodes into this episode 2?
But real answer, she, and the rest of those people were always light skinned.
It's just that during the original production, they never actually had an official color pallete for anything, so since they were presumsed to be in a desert town, the animators just gave them dark skin since they all live in the desert.

huh. ep 3 out. they didnt include the parrot that rose was made to believe was her lover "recovering" and they didnt include the giant Leto statue that Ed animates. the fact they didnt include the giant leto statue saddened me. ;_;
I haven't seen the episode yet, but I do have enough to ask about it already. Please tell me that the Ed's "reveal scene" was just as perfect here as it was in the first series.
Awesome. Meanwhile, I definitely need to play catch up with this ASAP.
The statue wasn't filler. It was properly there in Ch2. Ed uses it to almost kill Cornello.

you mean theres a good end?
The first Blu-ray Disc and DVD volume for the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime series will include a Mōmoku no Renkinjutshi (Blind Alchemist) OVA when Aniplex ships it on August 26. The OVA is based on the side story of the same name that manga creator Hiromu Arakawa drew for the Fullmetal Alchemist Guidebook. The first Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood disc release will also feature the first two episodes from the television series. The Limited Initial Edition will add "Hiromu Arakawa's 4-Panel Theater," which will be the first time that Arakawa's four-panel gag manga have been animated. The other extras will include an "Eye Catch Card" illustrated with the commercial bumper artwork from the anime and a 16-page Alchemist's Log about the behind-the-scenes production. Hiroki Kanno is drawing the disc jacket illustrations. Arakawa herself will illustrate a "Rouge" box for the first four volumes.http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-04-28/fullmetam-alchemist-ova-on-1st-brotherhood-disc
So, from what I've heard, Shinsen's translator for FMA has left after Shinsen got a C&D letter from Funimation, even though they subbed episode 4 under another tag AFTER they received the letter and as long as no new translator is found for the project, FMA is dropped. Which means everbody's gonna jump ship now and starts downloading the subs from Eclipse. Terrific. How is that bad? Eclipse does rather better subs than Shinsen.

Kidding, tokyotosho's down for me right now though, what about everyone else.same here.
If tokyotosho.com is down, try tokyotosho.info, it's always up, and works as the fallback domain for when the main one gets too hammered.
I can't help myself but laugh because of the fact that in this version of FMA, Lust and Gluttony are voiced by Cécile Croomy and Lloyd Asplund from CODE GEASS.
*shot*
I disagree.Care to explain?
Care to explain?
needs the Metal Gear Solid game over themeHughes. Hughes! HUUUGHES!
I want to know something about this series, what exactly is the difference for plot between it and the first anime?
About everything from this point on.The title of the next episodes are

Oh yeah, btw, is it time for the Chinese ninjas in the next two episodes or was that on the way back?
while the second series has to take some things out to fit a chapter into 1 episode.
Can you explain the "beastman" for us anime-only folks?
And so much for Funimation's "simulcast"...
Unless you count skipping large amounts of material and messing up the God Hammer scene. >.>Ill admit, I was pissed they ignored the Godhammer scene. but other than a few cut edges, it is pretty faithfull, and gets the job done.
Well, they do have to stuff 100 chapters in 52 episodesThen they should have ordered more episodes, geez!
I was wondering how they'll make the revisit to Reole make sense, what with the God Hammer scene messed up, but I guess they'll just skip over that part....Yeah, the thing about this show is, some of the changes and omissions seem to have been done because the audience would have already seen those things in the first series... But then why did they have to remake the story from the beginning in the first place? They're straddling a fence here.
I wondered the same thing about Kimbley.Would you wear a uniform after you´ve been released from a military jail?
Shouldn't the title of this thread be changed to something like "The All-purpose thread of Full Metal Alchemis" or something? I mean, we haven't discussed brotherhood in over a month XDUh, yeah, or maybe split the anime posts from the manga posts, because I look for comments on the show here, but I end up seeing spoilers from waaaaayyyy later on in the story.
FMAB25 is out
well there IS a way to make a 3d model and animate it, but use a technique that renders the model as if it were hand drawn, thus hiding the cg. Envy seems to have that at times here, but its easy to spot the Cg from his movements and such.

I accept the decision of Big Envy in CG, not to mention it seems they're mixing a bit of animation as well for certain angles. Animating Big Envy alone would be too much for a weekly series and frankly, it'll suck, so CG was a good move there. Aside from that, everything else is well done~ and the animation consistency is still ongoing.
...Well [tornado fang]
So are we going to call father:
Hao Asakura? Kami? Antichrist?

He killed everyone ELSE.

Well, he didn't kill everyone, so he's not on Hao's level :P
So, do you guys think that killing Father will fix everything or will we get a sad ending?
I have to ask though, how is it that his "pawns" didnt get killed? or, like Hoenheim, end up with immortal bodies? It seems like although the basic idea was the same as with Xerxes, but this time, different with the addition of the ones to open the gate...

Oh~?
You mean the first anime?
I never watched it.
Hmm... Its possible.
Speaking of the anime, I request a rename for this thread, manga spoilers and all.I would rather split the thread, but I suppose there are too many posts now for it to be worth the effort.
Mustang lost his goddamn eyesight!
He was my favourite character! O^O
New chapter's out.
...Holy.[parasitic bomb]. No matter what I say it wouldn't be able to properly describe this chapter. I REALLY liked
Kimblee coming coming back just to [tornado fang] up Pride's desperate plan, what a bad ass character. Also, Father's "What if I were to give birth to humans?" and everything after that was awesome.

Homuncudad is a weirdo.

Lol, he always was.
You forgot to mention that the manga ending (next month) will be 150 pages long.
Also, god damn it! This is one chapter I REALLY wish I hadn't read spoilers of ;___; (it's still not out yet AFAIK though)
I've been a subscriber to the theory that:makes sense actually.
Every gate of truth is inside oneself and that the only reason Ed and Al have TWO doors (because the rest of the people we've seen enter that area have only had one) is because they are connected like previous described. Hence the being that is talking to Al is either a being that is created upon his initial visit to the gate or is the embodiment of Ed's sin.
