Welcome, one and all, to the E3 2016 Thread!

No magical lyrics or whimsy this time, I'm afraid.

Let's all just sit back, chill, and enjoy the flurry of trailers, announcements, and gameplay videos that will be sure to come in this year's gaming event.

It is I, Phi, who will be your gracious host and friend with benefits for this occasion. Other users are free to host next year's event, preferably if they're cash money enough to handle the task.

Now, before we delve into the schedules and all the juicy little details, let's wet our appetite with some E3 trailers for these highly anticipated games.

And from what I gathered from the people who read the web comic, they claim this is superior to OPM. Although, it won't be shounen, I guess.

Nickelodeon, the cartoon powerhouse behind "Hey Arnold!," "Rugrats" and "The Wild Thornberrys," could be in the process of developing a channel strictly for classic '90s TV shows.

Nickelodeon has remained tight-lipped about the project, releasing veiled messages on social media with the hashtag #TheSplatIsComing.

"The great ‘90s experiment now has a launch date: Monday, Oct. 5, with its first block of programming scheduled to air on TeenNick.

Presently, the series slate consists of All That, Angry Beavers, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, CatDog, Clarissa Explains It All, Hey Arnold!, Hey Dude, Kenan & Kel, Ren & Stimpy, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Rocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, Salute Your Shorts, and The Wild Thornberrys."

Entertainment / Celles et Ceux des Cimes et Cieux

Roughly translates to: Girls and Guys from the Summits and the Skies

http://youtu.be/UopjsmEfnwM

Quote
The short is a gorgeously animated trailer for what looks like an amazing yet-to-be-made feature film. Created by Gwenn Germain, who is studying at the French art school Créapole, the animation is also a love letter to legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

It’s no wonder why Japanese netizens went crazy for “Celles et Ceux des Cimes et Cieux.” Germain’s short seems sprung from the same world as Miyazaki. The giant bugs look like something out of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. The ambiguously European architecture looks like something from Kiki’s Delivery Service and those purple amorphous worms look like something from Spirited Away.  Heck, Miyazaki himself even seems to be in Germain’s short – that bearded old guy at the end of the movie is a spitting image of the famed animator.

Germain credits other influences aside from Miyazaki: Syd Mead, the concept artist who created those flying cars in Blade Runner and the city of the future in the upcoming Tomorrowland, and particularly the boundlessly imaginative French illustrator Moebius. Their influence might not be as obvious as Miyazaki’s, however.

Yeah, definitely getting HUGE Miyazaki vibes from this. I'm also seeing some Avatar/Korra influence, too.

And interestingly enough, Germain used HANA-BI, which is a piece by Joe Hisaishi, the amazing God man who is the primary composer for the Studio Ghibli films.

General / How to properly embed YouTube Videos
« on: May 18, 2015, 07:22:27 AM »
NOTE: The newly implemented [youtube] button DOES NOT work.

As many of you know, there has been a "Device Support" error, whenever an attempt was made to embed a YouTube video.

After collaborating with Quickie to alleviate the problem, a new mod was installed.

1) The [yt][/ yt] method

Using this BBCode:
Quote
[yt]{youtube ID}[/ yt]
(minus the spacing)

YouTube videos can be displayed correctly; simply add the link between both "yt" codes. However, there is a minor downside to this: When posting your link in the message body, the forum will mandate that you to add something to the message body. Essentially, the forum thinks that the body is empty, since the YouTube link, alone, does not count as a message.

All you need to do is write something in the message body after posting the YouTube video. Thus, it will no longer be "empty" and the post will go through successfully.

2) The "youtu.be" method

I have found an alternate way to post the videos. This method requires some tampering with the YouTube link url.

Let's use an example:
Quote
http: //youtu.be/KWKYpy__lfA
(minus the spacing)

Instead of the usual http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= address, simply remove the www, .com and the watch?v= from the address.

Lastly, change youtube into youtu.be

This leaves you with the quote above. And with this method, you don't have to worry about adding a message to the body.

Just post the video by itself, and it will go through successfully.

Like so:

http://youtu.be/KWKYpy__lfA

And that pretty much wraps it up. I hope the descriptions were simple enough to understand.

If you have any questions, ask away.

"Hello Kitty is not a cat. She's a cartoon character. She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat. She's never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. She does have a pet cat of her own, however, and it's called Charmmy Kitty."

"Hello Kitty is British.
Kitty is actually named Kitty White and she has a full back story. She is a Scorpio. She loves apple pie. And she is the daughter of George and Mary White."

Mickey Mouse comes to mind. :P

Roleplay / The Supplement RP Thread
« on: August 20, 2014, 05:06:52 AM »
As I understand it, supplements, in this case, are backstories/origins of characters or events.

This topic will be used to freely post about your character's humble beginnings, add-on to a plot point you want to further flesh out, create summaries of certain locales, etc.

As a suggestion, it may be best to write the name of the RP that your post refers to.

Annnnd nothing much more to say, really!

Enjoy, go nuts and all that.

Gaming / Nintendo Patents Handheld with Swappable Buttons
« on: May 08, 2014, 07:28:47 PM »

Here's the patent.

Quote
The patent (via NeoGAF) was filed in October of last year. It describes a game system similar in appearance to the 3DS, though it doesn't appear as a clamshell design in the illustrations. The figures show four slots, each of which supports the ability to slide buttons or other control configurations inside. Examples shown include swapping a directional pad for an analog stick, or switching a four-button face for a three-button face.

And you can read this thread for a summary of the system's functionality.

Six portable classics are about to hit the North American Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS! The four remaining Game Boy Mega Man titles AND Mega Man Xtreme 1~2 (of Game Boy Color fame) are nearly ready for their eShop debut, and both Capcom Unity and Nintendo want YOU to decide which one launches first!

Vote in the above poll by 10am PT April 14 to make your choice known. Which of these classics will take the top spot? Mega Man V, with its unique Mega Arm and Stardroids (no Wily!)? Or perhaps you'd prefer Xtreme 2, with playable Zero and DNA Soul System?

Either way, the winning title will release on May 1, 2014. After that, it's "Mega May" as the remaining titles release each Thursday. Pick your favorite, but should your choice not release first, it'll still be out mere weeks later :)

While I will keep my vote secret for now (can't sway the vote!), please share your choices and rally others to get your favorite out on May 1!

Happy voting everyone!

Lyrics by yours truly

Intro

Since last year's E3 thread had a song pardoy, I thought I'd do my own. I'm not a wordsmith like our ever-egotistical PB, but It gets the job done I suppose.

I'll add in Jelly's rule to make it more official:

I will only ask that before you think about doing something stupid or potentially stupid, heed this rule:

No flaming, no trolling, no psuedo trolling, no fanboy agendas, and no riling up folks. It'd be best if you all just kept whatever thoughts you had along those lines to yourself.

With that all said, kick back, relax and have fun with the rest of RPM!

Wow, can't believe there isn't a thread about this yet.

Here's a very basic description on the game:

Quote
The game, which features psychological, spiritual and thriller elements, is centered around questions about what happens after death. The game lets the player take Jodie Holmes through 15 (8-23) years of her life on a journey to discover the true meaning of the entity Aiden, who has been alongside her throughout her life. The game's producer noted that players might be able to find out "what lies beyond" after playing it.

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuDNpGvmGCQ[/youtube]

This looks goddamn amazing; visually and aesthetically.

Gameplay seems somewhat more constrained than Heavy Rain, which is both good and bad given that it had a lot of unnecessary button prompts. I like to think of it as Heavy Rain meets Ghost Trick.

This game is done by Quantic Dream, the company that made this incredible tech demo.

DASH / DASH Album may lead to the release of the Prototype?
« on: April 24, 2012, 03:52:52 AM »
Huge grain of salt, obviously. From Protodude's RM Corner comes an... interesting story. Singer, Reika Morishita, plans to show support for the MegaMan community by releasing her soundtrack, reprising her two DASH theme songs.

Quote
To support our community, she is going to release her Mega Man Legends soundtrack reprisals at the end of May or early July, tentatively. During the meeting yesterday, she said that if her new soundtrack makes over 20,000 sales, Capcom Japan is likely to release the Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version on the e-shop. Welcome to Archetype Productions, where we make your dreams... yeah I suck at introductions.

But anyway, I've been meaning to create an art thread for a long while. Unfortunately, my scanner failed to work properly, so I haven't had the chance to show anything. Luckily It works now, so I guess I'll start off with a few pictures from my most recent sketchbook.

Just so you guys know though, most of my drawings are black & white. There are some that I have colored, but I'm dreadful at doing so. If someone wants to help me with coloring like PB, Quickie or anyone, you're welcome to do so.

Most of this introduction post is Batman related:

The Joker

Batman

The Penguin

some random fish

And lastly...

*whistle*

So guys, that's it for my introductory post. Yes, I am well aware that most of these pics look dirty, and I have no idea why. They look perfectly fine on the actual papers, I guess the scanner magnifies the imperfections on the sheet or something. I have drawn these pictures months ago, with the exception of PB, which was a few days ago (btw it's really fun to draw you PB, especially the shades and scarf).

Comments, ideas for improvement, everything goes here. Again, sorry for the mediocre introduction.

Indeed.

I'm not much of a world news person, but this is the first time that i've heard of something like this. In modern times that is.
