X is only a pervert because he just happened to act heroic around girls wearing little to nothing. Unlike Zero, who only acts heroic for girls with huge all-covering metallic dresses.

X / Megamission translation
« on: November 15, 2008, 06:11:24 PM »
Also using google's magic, I found this a few weeks ago:

http://asadori.blogspot.com/search/label/Megamission%201

The translation was done by "Asadori", the card where X (Ikusu) is introduced is missing and it doesn't seem to be that good of a translation. Still, along with Rockman Tanjou's translation of the manga, it helps with the understanding of Megamission.

Because the above site suffers from occasional automatic redirects, I'm quoting the translation here:

Just to spell it out, Zero's body got destroyed Ragnarok's explosion and atmospheric re-entry, he died. X wasn't around to bail him out from orbit like in Z1, Wily got taken care of back in the X-series, so Zero isn't reviving and Mother Elf is doing whatever she pleases. Later, Ciel creates Biometal Model Z using the soul of Zero, but that was only made possible thanks to her study of Biometal Model V, reviving Zero is like reviving X, a highly difficult thing.

Summarizing, he died and became a morphing device.

he didnt, it was just destiny, to put it bluntly. as much as Zero tried, he couldnt escape his intention after all.

It's a vital plot point that Zero is responsible for the bloodstained history and that history repeating itself. Therefor, he has to remove himself from the world. Even without Wily, his original purpose haunts him. That is his nightmare.

Quote
Wasn't Zero's purpose to surpass Forte and destroy Rockman? I thought Dr. Light created X to counter Zero.

Zero's purpose is multifaceted.

-To be the strongest robot.

-Robot Destruction Pro...
-Destroy Rockman.
-Destroy Forte.

-Destroy X.
-To prove Wily is the superior scientist, rivalry with Right.

X's creation and sealing is completely unrelated to Zero. X was designed to make robots truly happy, to make them able to determine right and wrong by themselves, the concept of worrying. Zero was initially developed to surpass all others and defeat Rockman and the annoyance Forte. Zero's initial purpose eventually changed and he was sealed away with the objective to destroy X. For the sake of rivalry, his motivation in life, Wily would dare to challenge Right's greatest. That battle is the battle of destiny that Wily has waited a century for. Nothing else, like taking over the world, matters now.

Quote
if you're not even going to be able to see it come true?

He's around to see it come true, Zero's battle with X that is. Much like Right is around to guide X.

Quote
Wily either managed to get a copy of the plans, or made them from scratch after hearing about X.

Zero and X were developed independently and separate. X's conceptual development began in Power Battle. Zero's schematics were first shown in Power Fighters. Zero is a result of Wily learning from his mistakes made with Forte and developing a new energy that surpasses Fortenium. X is the result of Rock's doubts in Power Battle.

Quote
yeah, but thats because by ZX he is technically revived. but from Z2, to pre-ZX, he counts as dead. his physical body was destroyed completely, all that remains is his soul. he can leave cyberspace due to his sheer power. once the control chip is destroyed, its considered a death. which is why technically, Zero only really died once in Z4, where he disintegrated upon atmospheric rentry.

It's pretty silly to throw around labels like living and dead in a series where people can be revived like its nothing. There's multiple types of death to take into account; destruction of the body, separation of the soul from the brain chip and merging with the abyss. Also matters of self revival are important.

Unless one's soul is merged with the metaphorical abyss, then one is essentially living in cyberspace or even as a wave-lifeform. It is what is commonly called a ghost or a disembodied soul, a Cyber Elf. A state of being both alive and dead at the same time. Cases like that exist with Sigma, Elpis Wily, X, Phantom, Girouette, Digg and that guy from Shooting Star Rockman. We also presume Zero and the others of the Big4 can become Cyber Elves like that. It seems one needs a strong will/obsession to remain alive, be special or attain external help. Everybody else just passes on and merges with the abyss. Though, their souls can still be returned from even that state of being, so no type of death in Rockman is permanent.

Quote
They probably kept his expiration date on hold, because the world needed a savior if Wily ever attacks again. But in the end, Mega (Along with other robots) were put into a Robot Musem, for great honor to him when Wily "vanished" so he can begin building Zero, thus removing him from the mind of the public years later. (being in textbooks, perhaps) Light made a copy of his mind (As your point), just in case they needed a savior for the next few centuries. Rock's old data, however, was constantly put on replay on his "holy actions".

Rock's fate is completely unknown, but the expiration date and robot museum story is completely far fatched. Without Wily, Rockman would retire and become Rock again until Rockman is again needed. He could become Quint, but he could also leave this planet, there are a lot of options.

Quote
Now fast-foward to the X series. Zero was discovered before X (Sigma was there during an escort, meaning that Zero was intentionally the base for some police reploids, as now dubbed. however, during that clash, he went mad, but however, during a scene of MHX, He was probably told to do so by the reploid creator, being Dr Cain himself. however, during that final battle in X8, Axl was belived to be "dead" until his revival in ZXA.

Zero was awakened in 21XX in Wily's lab, because he was disturbed by Repliroids, presumably Garma's unit, which he subsequently slaughtered. Sometime later, in the abandoned warehouse/Rocky Mountain storehouse, he was cornered by Hunters and fought with Sigma. Zero got a headache and got beaten by Sigma. When Zero awoke, he mysteriously woke up without irregularities. Due to that incident, the Sigma Virus transferred from Zero to Sigma. Sigma merged with the Virus, the evil Virus' hold on him was complete after several months, and Sigma of his own free will started rebellion.

Axl did not die in X8, he's taken damage but he's fine. He thus reappears in XCM.

Axl and Model A's relation is theoretical, but not disproven.

Quote
What happened was that Zero was created first.

What happened is that the order of creation between X and Zero is unknown. X's concept began before Zero was shown to Forte, but we can't tell when Zero's concept began in relation to X's. Also, Zero was sealed away because X was sealed away. We don't know which project first began, but X was completed first. As a matter of fact, Zero's "completion" isn't technically until X2.

Quote
they appeared to be based from old army robots, plus they weren't as light and multifunctional as most Reploids.

Repliroids look odd in X4 cutscenes, but the robots were definitely Repliroids. They weren't light-hearted, thematic or mono-eyed enough to be classic robots.

Quote
REPLOID means Replicated Android. I.O.W., replicated off of X.

The term Repliroid has no official meaning such as that. Such is mere fanon. The multiple definitions of Repliroid revolve around the core fact that Repliroid mental functions are designed to be as close to humans as possible, not around being replicated of X. It is simply that the X lies at the root that allows near human mental abilities. Really, the only Repliroid that truly follows the definition of based on X and having ability that surpasses all previous robots... is Sigma, simply because he's the first. That definition becomes highly questionable later, so the human mental capabilities definition is the preferred definition for Repliroids in general.

I was a bit disappointed with their representations of Eden. Instead of the large white satellite with the glowing eye they referred to the obelisk it released as Eden itself (although, maybe it is, and the other satellite is just some kind of attachment thing). The docking bay looked the same as Elysium's, and the control room's design was a little bit bland.

I think that in a way, both are Eden. The monolith seems to be a vital aspect of the entire station's function. As Juno says in NxC, it's an armed space fortress/sattelite weapon, the monolith however actually almost touches down to the ground. All the same, Juno does hint that the terms aren't entirely accurate. He also speaks of "10 000" workers that somehow are supposed to fit inside of Eden and Juno speaks of "optimum altitude." Some times he seems to use Eden to refer to the white structure, other times to the monolith. I suppose you could say the monolith is simply a detached part of the whole that is Eden.

My personal theory about Eden is just that it's some sort of satellite cannon that uses the monolith as a means to channel the effects of the attack. Like light falling on a prism.

Which remind me, it seems there are more than one of those monoliths in the world of DASH, and of differring shapes and sizes.

This was shown on Calbania Island in the second game:

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d108/molly224400/screen-48.jpg

compare that with:

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d108/molly224400/screen-84.jpg

and it seems there exists an implication that Calbania once suffered reinitialization by an Eden-like structure. Which would explain what happened to the civilization the Master showed to Trigger to the point of Glyde's base being established there.  Of particular note, though, is that the repeated wipe-outs of Kattelox never left behind an ancient monolith such as that. I would reckon that Calbania island's population was killed but someone like Trigger succeeded in taking out the monolith despite the heavy casualties.

Quoting MarshmallowMan:
Laevatein is Ragnarok's sword-shaped core. The control room where Zero fought Craft was where the control module for Laevatein was operated and regulated from.

....

I believe it's literally the station's computer brain. The diagram in Vile's Incident shows Energen stores surrounding the center of the station, so it probably isn't directly related to power supply/output besides the regulation of it. But once Vile is connected to the brain of the ship, it would all in essence sort of become part of him, perhaps.

Using the magic of google, I stumbled upon this:

http://faqs.neoseeker.com/Games/PS2/namco_x_capcom_script.txt

A translation of NxC's plot. As it never saw a US release, it's a pretty nice thing to have, enjoy this addition to DASH lore and all the crossover goodness that comes with it!

It seems to have mistranslated Reavered as Rebird but a lot of other terminology seems fine.

The Rockman DASH story presented in NxC revolves around Rockman Juno's second coming. It seems to be non canon, simply because it's crossover and some inconsistencies between L1 and L2 plot elements. Despite this, it has a lot of info that helps us learn more about the DASH setting. Most notable being the explanation of Eden.

The following is a summary of what I can gather from the script:
He introduces himself without any memory of the DASH1 events. Roll wonders who it is. Tron and Rock however are immediately alarmed by his presence as he is the one Rock fought inside of the Main Gate. It seems that as a result of the DASH1 events, Juno's previous body was destroyed by Rock and his memory was almost completely erased by Data. His current self is a new Rockman Juno with only portions of his memory restored because the reconstructive process did not entirely succeed. (The reconstruction was carried over by crossover character Grand Master Meio who became interested in the technology used to create Juno. He also seems to be responsible for Juno's new body.)

Rock knows he has to destroy Juno before he regains his memory, as Juno would attempt to wipe out the Decoys again. Over time, Juno begins to realize he met and fought Rock before, Rock's strong emotional responses toward Juno also motivate him to regain his lost memory. As Juno's memory recovers, Roll too is informed about the mysteries of Rock's past. The name Rockman Trigger is brought up and Juno notes that it is significant, he also begins to speak to Rock as his superior "Lord Rockman Trigger." (Rockman Trigger-sama?)

Juno plans to reinitialize the Decoys of Earth using Eden and by the magic of crossover he's conducting an experiment to enhance Eden's area of effect beyond regional scope, able to terminate all Decoys on the planet. Juno however is constantly met with resistance and begins showing irregular behavior, his logic systems seem defected as he starts blaming others for own failure. Rock questions him about it not even aware of the meaning of the term, despite realizing this is what is happening to Juno.

Having turned completely irregular according to Rock, Juno completes his experiment and gives us previously unknown information about the nature of Eden. The final battle between Juno and Rock finally occurs, Juno regains his memories and realizes Rock's memory isn't complete either. Roll's interested in knowing what this "Trigger thing" is. And Juno explains Rock is Rockman Trigger Purging Officer First Class. Roll questions who Rock is and Rock has to reassure her he is himself, his name is Rock Volnutt. Rock defeats Juno and says his final farewell to him.

There's too much material for simply one season. And I'd rather have a manga by Ariga.

Also, updated the timeline with the following info:
-Added the history of Kattelox and its former reinitialization by Juno using Eden and the blue hero that opposed Juno but failed to stop Eden. Library entry for the history of Kattelox was quoted.
-Added creation notes for Mother and Trigger, using exact script info and some Japanese materials.
-Used the script to write down more in depth info of Trigger vs the system.

... You mention a demi-god like Hercules and an entity such as the Grim-Reaper yet you don't consider Vampires and their relation to other bloodsucking creatures such as the Vampire Bat to be worth mentioning?

Aside from that, ALL Mythos Repliroids have some mythological and folkloric roots. Eels, Stags, Stag Beetles, Rabbits, Panther, Falcon. All are creatures that have appeared in stories with possibly special powers and/or are worshiped in some manner. Even a cactus is mythological in some parts of this world.

It's not "Irregular Hunter" in the japanese version. It's simply that his purpose is similar to an Irregular Hunter and that their adversaries are called Irregulars.

From MarshmallowMan's posts:

Purifier is Shukuseikan, which roughly translates to "political perging official"

Bureaucrats are "Shiseikan" or "municipal government official"

Mother units are still designated Mother like in English, or Mother Computers, with Sera as Mother 0 (originally Mother 2 it would seem) and Yuna as Mother 1.

Servitors I'm not sure there's a single direct designation. They are sometimes referred to as "Shimobe" which means "manservant." That doesn't seem to be necessarily their designation title, though. They're also described as "intelligent latest design super-high grade" reaverbots, as well.

-Heaven to Elysium

Also referred to as Haven in ZX.

Quote
So the MASTER was the same or was that another name change like heaven, earth/terra, etc.

and were the Elder/Master systems also the real names or just english changes?

The english "Master" is used within the japanese game. Much like Master Albert, Master Thomas and Master Mikhail. "masuta." Different from "Master X" as in "X-sama." and "Lord Vile" as in "Bairu-sama." As such, it's also called Master System in the japanese game.

The term "Elder System" exist in neither the Japanese nor the English version. It's only referred to as the system that belongs to the Elders, it was not given a name like "The Master System". The Elders themselves are referred to as "Elder Gods."

X^X AD
-MegaMan ZX
->

Legends, Ancient:
X^X AD
- Reign of the Elder's System and their machines.
->
X^X AD
The Elder's System is shut down by the Master's people and replaced with Master System. Elysium, the perfect world of eternal youth without hunger disease and war is created. (Thousands of years before Legends2, 3000 at the least.)
->
X^X AD
- The humans living on Elysium create Carbons that populate Terra. The Master provides them with a history and culture of their own. -> Sattelites like Eden are put into service to keep Carbon population in check and the Carbon Reinitialization Program is installed in the Library of Elysium. The library contains the genetic samples/records/code of the humans that built the Master System. This program clones new humans from those genetic samples, but is is meant to only be run after the Master and all other humans have died, by running this program all Carbons will be killed. -> The majority of Humans die out by unknown cause. The Master is the last human remaining and he lives an immortal and sterile life on Elysium.
-The Mother Units Yuna and Sera are created by the Master. They're androids with positronic brains built to
watch over and manage Elysium. They're assigned to Terra (Mother One, Yuna) and Elysium (Mother Zero or Mother Two, Sera), they hold authority over all units of the master system assigned to Terra and Elysium respectively. Intelligent latest design super-high gradeGattz and Geetz are eventually assigned to Yuna and Sera respectively to be their Servitor Units (manservants).
-Buraeucratic Model Third Class MegaMan Juno is assigned to the main gate of the island that is later known as Kattelox, his purpose is to monitor and to keep the carbon population in check using Eden.
-MegaMan Trigger is created by the Master, built for combat as a Purifier Unit First Class to seek out and destroy Aberrant Units. Units that malfunctioned and threatened the System. (Unlike all other units of the system, MegaMan Trigger does not appear to have a behavioral limiter installed or operational that makes him unable to think outside of system parameters.  Geetz wonders why the Master would want to have a unit such as that by his side. Sera makes note that this is because of the Master being lonely.)
->
X^X AD
- Master modifies some of the Carbons slightly. He makes mention of calling them "Betas" whilst Trigger calls them "Carbons." (This difference in terminology between the Master and others of the System does not exist in the original Japanese version. There they are always referred to with the singular term "Decoys.")
->
X^X AD
-After having lived on Elysium for 3000 years, Master comes to Terra with Trigger and dies. He tells Trigger how he felt about the Carbons and asks Trigger to destroy the System for the Carbon's sake and gives him a 'goodluck charm.' (A long long time before Legends2)
->
X^X AD
- Trigger fights against the system to fulfill the Master's dying wish. With the rest, Yuna fights against Trigger, but she slowly begins to understand what Trigger is trying to do. In the end she tries to take a neutral position. Frustrated with Yuna's decision, Sera travels to Terra herself to
fight Trigger.
-Trigger builts Data to protect his memories and the Master's Genetic Sample from Mother II (Sera.)
->
X^X AD
- Sera and Trigger battle on Terra, but Sera wasn't able to bring her full power to bear outside
of Elysium. Each expending all their energy, the two have fought to a standstill. Trigger's body was almost totally destroyed in the battle. There was no choice but to reset all of Trigger's parameters so that he could heal. His body is reset to his original configuration but this also flushes out all of Trigger's memories. All essential datafiles are thus transferred to Data. Yuna takes advantage of the opportunity and seals both Sera and Trigger away in stasis fields. Trigger with Data are then hidden on Nino Island and Sera with Geetz on Forbidden Island. Forbidden Island is sealed off and guarded by Yuna from then on.
->

Legends:
X^X AD
- Sera's sealing "Legend of the Goddesses" falls into mythology.
- Forbidden Island has its name attached to the legend of the Motherlode
->
X^X AD
-Barrel Caskett is born (65 years before Legends1)
-Von Bluecher is born
->
X^X AD
-Barrel and Bluecher enter Forbidden Island, lose consciousness, brought to Yosyonke by Yuna. (30 years/over 30 years before Legends2)
-Teisel Bonne born (29 years before Legends1)
->
X^X AD
-Tron Bonne born.
-Roll born -> Barrel finds Data and Trigger's reset form inside Nino Island Ruins. He names the baby Rock as a pun on his granddaughters name. Trigger adopted by Barrel. Alternate English Version Event: Barrel finds Data and Trigger's reset form inside Nino Island Ruins. Roll demands baby be named "MegaMan," after her favorite videogame character, despite Barrel's wishes. Trigger adopted by Barrel.
->
X^X AD
-Roll's parents enter forbidden island. -> Roll's father, Banner is saved (by Yuna?) and ends up at Yosyonke, Banner lost his memory and takes on the name Joe, his arm is replaced with a mechanical one. Roll's mother Matilda near death, is saved by Yuna, she repairs Matilda's body but is forced to use it as her own. (10 years before Legends2)
->
X^X AD
-Bon Bonne is born (3 years before Legends1)
->

Teisel, Tron and Bon's dear mother dies.

->
X^X AD
- The Elder's System is becoming active again after Elysium is no longer functioning. Remnants of that system are buried deep all over Terra in the ruins, so many Yuna does not even know how many. The Elders and their machines activate gradually; though eventually they will, they are not expected to be fully active soon.
->
X^X AD
- Rockman DASH 3: "Episode 1"
->
X^X AD
- Rockman DASH 3: "Episode 2: Revival! The Dark Lord of the Ruined Country."

Notable Events:
-The Legend of the Motherlode is first told, (Numerous generations before Legends2.)

-Tokarev guns were famous amongst the carbons. (Hundreds of years prior to Misadventures)

-MegaMan Juno once attempted to use Eden to reinitialize Kattelox Island and met resistance by a blue hero of the Carbons. Despite this hero's efforts Kattelox was still reinitialized. From that time onward, Juno slept inside of the main gate until awakened in Legends1 where he noticed that the Carbon population had become too large and subsequently attempted to reinitialize the island once again.

-Kattelox was discovered as an unpopulated island some 100 years before the writing of the book The history of Kattelox. At the time of its discovery, the surface of the island was almost completely covered with ruined buildings. Kattelox became well known after the discovery of high-quality refractors some 60 years before the writing of the aforementioned book.  After the discovery of the presence of refractors, it was also found that the island was riddled with underground ruins.  Due to the various unfortunate accidents which plagued early exploration attempts and the persistence of the rumors of a legendary curse or disaster, the majority of these ruins were sealed off from the general public.  Thus, digging is permitted in only a limited number of ruins.  As for the legendary disaster, it is believed by some that every century, an undefined presence that resides beneath the island awakens and destroys all life present on it.  Research conducted by the current mayor of the island, Professor Amelia, shows that there are remnants of several different civilizations on Kattelox.  In other words, it appears the previous inhabitants of this island have built a civilization many times, only to have it destroyed each time... This is believed to be the origin of the myth of the legendary disaster that haunts this island.  While there is obviously no scientific proof that Kattelox is destined for disaster, many people who believe in the legend choose to leave the island, and in fact the decreasing population has become one of the island's major concerns in recent years.

- The Famous Uncle Digg dies in a cave obsessed with his quest to uncover the thruth about "The Elixer of Youth." He becomes a Ghost unknown to everybody but his assistant Roxette. (An unknown but limited time before Misadventures.)

Notes:
-The historically inaccurate accounts of the Legend of the Goddesses, the Legend of the Motherlode and Forbidden Island, combined with the fact that Kattelox's history is known up to at least 100 years before Legends1, makes it most likely that Sera was sealed away more than a century before Legends2. The same for Trigger's reset. Therefor all events that reference more than a century before the first Legends game are to be considered as possibly overlapping the events of Legends, Ancient.

-The Rockman DASH story from Namco X Capcom occurs after Legends1, before Legends2 involving the revival of Rockman Juno referring to Trigger an Irregular. Its canon status is questioniable.
-In the case of Legends2/RockmanDASH2, Episode1 is the demo version of the full game which is Episode 2. Episode1 has it's own story which is not included in the full game. Presumably it is the same for DASH3.
-The title for DASH 3 has questionable canon status. It was given by Hideki in the same year as DASH2's release as a joke. Neither Episode 1 or Episode 2 of Rockman DASH 3 exist at current time.
-In the new cellphone game MegaMan and Roll are searching for treasure on five islands and the Bonnes get involved. Familiar faces like Denise are met along the way. Nearing the conclusion, the secret as to how Refractors are made is partially revealed. Under a volcanic island called Urakoi, Rock and Roll find ancient equipment that can transmogrify magma energy into refractors. However, either the machines are too complex to be properly understood, or the facility may have run dry, because they are only able to create low-grade refractors with it. They surmise that the ancients must have known powerful techniques of handling extreme amounts of energy and refining it to usable form, far surpassing what current technology is capable of.
