PLOT:
It's been a year since the Cybeasts threatened the peace of the world. Lan and his friends think life can't be better living in a quiet, peaceful net society. Deep inside, Lan wants to relive the days of defeating net criminals, and saving lives... Soon he will get his wish, because a dark secret is about to threaten the earth.
Many years ago, a beast was unleashed upon the Net.  This beast was eventually defeated by the duo none other than Lan and MegaMan.

A mysterious group named "Red Infinity" wants to resurrect the beast. Its members are gathering "Z Parts" from around the world. While Lan is at Sci Lab one day, a mysterious navi attacks and steals an old document from Sci Lab's computers... What could be in this old file that Red Infinity would want? What do the "Z Parts" have to do with the beast? What did this navi steal from MegaMan, crippling him at the scene of the battle? Stay tuned for more updates from MegaMan Battle Network - Chrono X to find out!

Note: X, Zero or any other non-Battle Network characters will NOT appear in the game. Same goes for Shooting Star MegaMan.

MegaMan Battle Network Chrono X is a fan-game by MegaDudes Production that aims to replicate the experience of Battle Network to perfection to deliver a theoretical Battle Network '7.' The story will continue from the adventures of Lan and will connect in some way to the Distant Finale as seen in Battle Network 6.  It is currently the most progressive Battle Network fan-game on the Internet. This project started in 2009 and has made enormous amounts of progress since.  We have downloadable demos to try.

Demo 4 Download (http://www.mmbnchronox.com/play.php)  -- This contains the whole first two chapters of the game. This totals about 4-6 hours of playtime. Yes, the first two chapters. Enjoy.  You can try the game with a plug-in controller, too!

Demo 4.1 will feature online mode! Stay tuned!

Demo Requirements:
Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7
DirectX 9 or better
DirectX 9 compatible graphics card with at least 32MB (128mb recommended!) of video memory

512 MB of memory or greater (1GB recommended!)
800x600 or greater screen resolution with 32-bit colors
100 MB of free space on HardDrive

Android Test Build for 2.2 and upwards -- This is not the two chapter demo, but a test of how the Android plays on certain devices. Give it a try today!

Android Requirements:
Android 2.2 & up, 256mb of RAM, armv6/armv7/mips CPU + 17mb of free space.

Nifty title screen graphics, but, the title itself is incredibly lame, and a bit too long. It takes up way too much room. Riftman needs a better palette. His colors give him a flat appearance. Beef up the red contrast some. Can't say anything about the gameplay or controls, since the game doesn't even work.

you didnt extract it correctly.  Make sure you extracted EVERYTHING

I recommend using the installation version.

Edit: It could be the windows registry bug

If so try renaming the game's folder.  With installation, this pretty much never happens, or at least I have never seen it too

I've played Chrono X. And when I got to the Air Condition part apparently I thought that was the end of the demo, I couldn't do anything further.

I have years of experince spriting Battle Network, I may offer to help.

In the 3rd demo, you can defeat Raven and after that you unlock Mementos, Navicust, secret area and 2 extra bosses so, you still had a lot more to do xD

But if you think your sprites are really good, you can go to our site.  Visit the Misc Stuff--> Contact Us section and then email us with your best sprites.  If you are good you may be on the team

And your MSN is added. All you just have to do is ring the doorbell and we can start discussing about what we could do. I might even fix some enemy designs.

I played it. I liked the little I played so far.

The game runs and looks just as good as the GBA games (specially BN6).
The game runs in smooth 60 fps and saving works like a charm too. ^^

Suggestion: Can you add some options or settings that can upscale the screen size to 2x or 4x (without filters please, I loves me sum pixels nya). ^^;

Some very tiny grammar changes will be good too.
There was one that said something like this: "Here are my HP. The game is over if they go down to 0."

And the music, mp3 kinda makes the game pack bigger than it should. There's also two wav files that you can compress to mp3.
The composition of the songs feels just a little bit different than the GBA games, they might not feel as memorable as the originals.
The quality doesn't feel as dynamic as you hear it playing from the GBA games either. Sounds more like midi.
Maybe you can switch to midi with similar instruments instead?

The game does look good tho. Keep up the work. ^^o
Title: Re: Megaman Battle Network Chrono X!
Post by: killer336 on August 11, 2010, 08:05:19 PM
Glad you like it.

Those grammar errors have already been fixed since the demo was released in March.

Press F4 to go to fullscreen

Those wav files have to be wav files according to the programmer/creator.  Not sure why xD He asked to make an account, so when its approved he will give a more detailed explanation.

Also the mp3 files are actually keeping the file size smaller, according to the programmer.

Quote from MaxRock- creator /programmer His English isn't perfect

" its just that 2 mp3s can be played one after anotherXD without shutting down the previous so u would get an big pause between
 too much to write
soo in other words the 2 parts of winning screen wouldnt play as one part without a lil break between"

Also, the music isn't really GBA because Capcom has entire studios dedicated to producing sound and musicfor the GBA.  So someone in their house in a piano isn't gonna compare to those but he does the best he can.

MaxRock's explanation

"also music isnt really like gba because.....  u see music in gba is using like slots for each instrumments,   and when another sound must be played and all slots are  full, one is turning off to make new sound to play. u can hear that in virus battle in bn6 when your hp is orange andu have the hp alarm
one instrumment from the   virus busting theme is not being played then
 XD"

For the midis, I quote the programmer,

"midis... bad quality, also  their quality depends on the midis instruments pack or hows called installed in windows
it would be different on win 7 and win xp depending in the instruments installed"
Title: Re: Megaman Battle Network Chrono X!
Post by: VixyNyan on August 11, 2010, 08:31:48 PM
Then I think it would be great to look into compressing the music even more.
Try a different format supported by the game engine, or try a different bitrate.
I'm sure you don't even want the sampling rate under 44,100 hz tho. XD
Listen to the quality a bit, do some testing, set the music to Mono if you feel like it.
The file size is good for now tho. Most people should have a fast connection anyway. ^^;

I'm just worried if the music will be as memorable or inspiring as Capcom's own music.
Since the songs are original compositions, it might take a while to get used to them.

But I hope for the best.

This fangame is definitely quite faithful in recreating the Battle Network experience, but perhaps a bit TOO faithful, what with "OvenPrt", "viruse's" and other weird things in the script... The actual games only did all the abbreviations and stuff because of crappy localization and the way the Japanese game was coded.
Title: Re: Megaman Battle Network Chrono X!
Post by: killer336 on August 11, 2010, 09:00:31 PM
yes we do that because its pretty much a tradition in all of the BN games to date.  The team wants to keep it as close to the GBA games as it possibly can.  With that being said, there will be some new stuff to make it stand on its own but overall it SHOULD look and feel like a battle network game

So, we will try to have perfect grammar in the game but the shortening of words has always been in there

Maybe I missed it, but is there any way to skip the tutorial during the met encounters? It's one of the biggest gripes with the official games; we don't need to hear the same explanation for the Nth time.
Title: Re: Megaman Battle Network Chrono X!
Post by: killer336 on August 11, 2010, 10:29:24 PM
in demo3, no

But tutorial skipping has been programmed and will be in demo4 and will also be in the full game.

There was nothing to extract. It was all in one installation package.

Programmer: the trigger error happends   cause of bugs in PC's registry. try to rename game's folder and then run the game

Your windows version should have no negative effect.

I am going to assume that its ok to Double post since this is a showcase topic.

I wanted to post a wallpaper that was created by MukaBooka.

Um well, when I tested the game, I did that while I was working. When I got home, it installs in the same folder.

"C:\Program Files\MegaDudes\MegaMan Battle Network  CHRONO X" (two spaces between MMBN and CHRONO X)

@ OBJECTION MAN MaxRock said you can rename the folder to anything you want. And if it will not work then just move it all to another directory.
@ VirusChris The logo on the sig(4th demo's one and probably final version of it) was made by one of our fans in   Photoshop.

sad that saudio's dll im using has not fully support in game maker 8 XD
anyway, OBJECTION MAN, try to defragement  partition on which the game is installed(select both options in the popup window), it was fixing the error in windows 7^^ or try to move, rename and exchange the sounds dll with this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?jqm0mzq2jnq
If still nothing then well, few choices still left. Clear windows registry via toniart's easy cleaner(along with temp files)(need to run it as admin), wait for 4th demo or i can give you the link to demo 3_0, but that's the version beta testers used for searching bugs sooo its failsafe but its not using that dll.

The DLL file you linked to fixed it. Thanks.

Holy crap. It was worth the wait. This is a fan game with some talent behind it!

You guys captured the essence of the EXE series almost to a 't'. I have to say I'm very impressed. It felt like an official game, even right down to the writing. It even made me laugh too.

Here are a few things I noticed:
- I got a Reflect chip from battling a mettaur, but it never showed up in my pack. Later on in the demo I got another one, and it did go into my pack. I got a third, and it added it to the pack, so I had two total at that point.

- Dog house script triggered by SciLab console (image attached)

- Shouldn't Megaman's buster be able to fire faster the closer he is to the opponent? I thought I remember that from the EXE series.

- Holding a direction through a room change doesn't keep you moving. You have to release and press down again. Minor, but annoying.

Overall, this is an extremely impressive demo. I only wish there were more options for button settings and such. I got around it with Joy2Key but still.

REALLY glad you enjoyed it, and I hope you continue to follow us as we progress even farther, 4th demo will have chapters 1 and 2 and there is an online mode that's in progress.  We will continually post major updates here but monitor us as you see fit

Also, all those bugs have been fixed so no worries.

I just hope you tried out the secret stuff in demo3 after Raven.

I haven't even gotten that far. Lan's dad went into a meeting, and I took a side quest off the BBS, completed it, and that's as far as I got so far.

glad you liked it so far. 3rd demo was relased in april, and from that time i fixed all the bugs it had^^ for players movement, well its not that annoying for me so i left it like that. And when it comes to the buster it is so. But a bit faster than in normal bn games, so maybe you havent noticed it. Making the buttons customizeable now would be boring task and would take too much time. I dont want to make delays^^;

Edit: Downloaded, installed the game from the install version, loaded it up and it gave me an error message so i tried it with the DLL file that was given and it still gave out the same problems so i decided to ignore it until it let me play which it did and well... no music was a given i suppose considering but almost every action other then moving gave me an error message.

Greetings Chrono X fans!  I have something I would like to discuss with you today.  Recently, our musician has tried Chrono X's music more GBA styled.  What we would to ask from the fans is, which version of our music do you like better?  Please reply to this message with your opinion with a reason as to why.

This is our ORIGINAL boss theme
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYCo-X_WX6U&feature=player_embedded]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYCo-X_WX6U&feature=player_embedded[/youtube]

Now this is the GBA version.  It's not exactly perfect, but it's a close approximation.

Listen and voice your opinion.  Thank you.

The GBA version is better because, sadly, it has better mixing and samples. I don't believe you should limit yourself to the GBA's sound capabilities, but I do think the music needs a lot more work.

Hello fans! I am informing you that the GBA version has won the poll!  The screenshot right there is proof of this.

All the music in the game will now be switched to GBA version.  Thank you for your time.

Time for litle update:D
We are getting very close to relase. 4th demo gonna enter RelaseCandidate stage soon, what left is adding few more chips, viris, plot-wise stuff, NPCs(that's why the screenies looks soo empty without other characters, but it's much easier and faster to add them as the last thing) and of course hard beta testing.
(Spriter's APP submission is still open, so who haven't send the email yet, should do it soon!)

Heya folks! We're getting closer to release demo4, so, we've decided to host a HelpBBS contest. In case you're rusty, a HelpBBS is one of the boards that give you jobs to do. In return for completing these jobs, you get prizes.

What we want from you guys, our fans, is to post in the topic linked below with your best ideas for a HelpBBS quest. Please follow the instructions written there and think hard about the one you want to submit. Remember that if you're idea is creative, it has a higher chance of being featured in the game.

http://mmbnchronox.22web.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=848&p=21229#p21229

P.S. We are STILL looking for new spriters. If you know anyone, or if you possess the skills yourself, then please send your best examples to ziutek340@gmail.com Thank you.

Time for some little update. We are doing very well. For now we entered a betatesting phase where the rest of team members and few betatesters replays the game many times under given circumstances searching for bugs, writing their reports etc, while I took few days free to take care of a few personal real life stuffs. No screenshots this time, because of one of our project rule - never relase stuff to public until we're sure they work in 99% without any bugs, BUT
that doesn't mean that we don't have anything more prepared for you. Here's another masterpiece art, (created by our talented artist - Muku) showing one of the scenes from 4th demo, along with introducing new characters. Enjoy!

Hello there, fans! Today is a very special day! Why?  Because our trailer for the fourth demo is finally finished! Demo4 will contain 2 full game chapters. You will get to play through all of the story from demo3, plus the entirety of chapter 2. This adds up to about 4 hours of gameplay. Not only that, but the bugs from the third demo have been fixed, the graphics have been improved, smoother gameplay on older computers and much more.

But who am I kidding? Just watch it already!

You do need better sprites though.

Hello there, fellow fans. It's time for another update on Chrono X!

What does this picture mean? Well, we, at Megadudes, are hosting another contest, only this time it's not the BBS kind. This famous person needs a new netnavi! That's right. MMBN CHRONO X will have Mr. Famous in our game with his own fighable netnavi! This time, however, we want you, the fans, to decide what his navi should look like. If you're interested, details are below.

Date:
The competition is held from August 26th, 2011 (YES, TODAY.) to Midnight October 2nd, 2011 (GMT+1).

Rules:
-ONLY ARTS!!! They can be in any style you want. For example, traditional, digital, or sprites! Use your imagination!

-Arts can be only submitted to the following e-mail:      "ziutek340@gmail.com " ONLY with the corresponding e-mail title: "Chrono X competition no1-Mr.Famous".

-If you've done artwork for us, and we used it, then you CAN'T participate.

-Each person can submit only ONE art.

-Arts not related to the topic and/or not having the proper e-mail title we gave you above, won't be viewed, and will be INSTANLTY DELETED.

-Any submissions given not within the specified time-frame will NOT be considered. If you live in radically different timezones, then please try to submit your work earlier.

Besides art/scan/photos of the art, please include the following:
-Name of the NetNavi
-Element
-Attacks/Attack Style

The best ones will be posted in an update at October, along with the winning art!

The best design will be sprited by our team's spriters and put into Chrono X as Mr.Famous's NetNavi! This is your chance to be "Famous" too!

This next update is a small sample of Chrono X's PVP function. Max made this out of boredom while Max needed to await for some key sprites. This example shows how the process of networking works in Game Maker using 39dll. The network is as optimized as possible. (Be mindful that GameMaker sucks with online play). Any bugs you find are lag and not programming errors. After you tested it, please voice your opinion if you think it should be incorporated into demo4.

Setup:
1. Download Hamachi
2. Add player-to-be-versed in the same Hamachi network
3. Choose a player to be the "Host" and "Client" after successfully running the game.
4. The Client types the Host's HAMACHI IP and then clicks OK.
5. Have fun.

Welp, our previous webhost decided to cancel our service based on the fact that we didn't have at least 5 unique visitors in 30 days (lie)and allowed anonymous posting (also lie). So, we had no choice but to move to a new TEMPORARY webhost Site:

Site: http://mmbnchronox.0fees.net

We will get a paid host in the near future, but this is here just so the fans can still check updates. The forum is not up-to-date however, as our latest backup was only from 8/14/2011. So if you've registered any accounts, or made any posts since then, they are lost.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

I am so glad you guys are still continuing the project!

I can't wait to actually play this one, unlike the last Rockman.EXE / Mega Man Battle Network fan game which has since vanished   (Mega Man Battle Network 7 / Rockman.EXE 7 - Mondai o kakaeta shōrai! / ロックマン。EXE - 7 -  問題を抱えた将来!)

Any way I look forward to this....I just wonder; why hasn't ANYONE (fan or official) made Centuarman.exe yet???? :p hows that for a dropped suggestion? Keep up the good work however!

Also how is THIS for the Japanese style name of your fan game -- Rockman.EXE: Time's Memory / ロックマン。EXE - 時の記憶

Hey guys, time for the results of the Mr. Famous contest + some info about the project.

Before I say the winner though, I'd just like to thank each and everyone of you guys who took the time to enter. There were a lot of good entries and it was really hard for us to decide on a winner.

That being said, the winner is...Steven(CurseMan) with the Navi Cactus Man.EXE!
(left is original design, right is official CX artwork)

While the idea of a Cactus themed Navi might seem silly at first, we believe that out of all of the Navi ideas submitted that Cactus Man was by far the most creative and well thought out Navi submitted. Congrats again to Sheri for winning, and to everyone else who didn't, we're sorry, but there is always next time so keep at it!

Now, time for some new screenshots:

We finally moved to a new proffesional host, and got  a .com domain! Sadly our previous host damaged the backup, so we has to start with fresh forum, but that's not a problem! Just come and register! Without any problems! Also, new host's not the only surprise we prepared, but more about it next week!

We are getting closer and closer to relase 4th demo, meanwhile I found some free time and programmed what people offen were asking me for on e-mails - configurable controls. The menu for it is in form of a separate EXE file (as shown on the screen above).

There are 2 things to mention. First is, that the buttons can be configured only before running the game, not durning gameplay as the game loads the configuration from ini file. If for some reason the ini file would be missing, or be configured wrong, the controls will reset to default ones(Z,X,A,S,Enter,Backspace and arrows). Now the 2nd thing, All the controls in game itself gonna be displayed as GBA's ones, so A,B,L,R, Start and Select, no matter what controls gonna be set. Hope this won't be a problem. I did it to not overload the memory game's using with more fonts made of sprites.

Just bringing some updates as we draw ever closer to demo 4's release. What we have here is a new track for our game catered to a special fight later on in the plot. What makes this particular track interesting is that it uses a new soundfont to experiment with. Please leave your thoughts on the new soundfont below.

I'm not gonna lie, i love everything about your post. The music is very catchy, worthy of any Megaman track in fact and i find myself really looking forward to Chrono X all over again.

Also? Cactusman is bitchin. That cowboy look he's sporting is a natural fit and i love that hat.

EXE Net Center with cooperation with us holds a NetNavi design contest(February 14th-14th March 2012)!

Design your own NetNavi (and NetOp, if you want) for the RockMan.EXE universe. You'll need to detail their attacks, defenses, HP, appearance, and what their chip would do. You are free to redesign a Robot Master from the original series if you so choose, but make it unique! You are permitted to draw as many Navis as you wish.

The only physical prize is a copy of the MegaMan Battle Network Official Complete Works art book (the winner to be decided by EXE Net Center's staff).

More than that, if one of the designs will be good enough, there's chance it will be featured in our fangame!
Whether to award this prize and to whom it would go will be entirely up to the MegaDudes staff (us). To be considered for immortalization in the game, your entry must contain designs for both a NetNavi and NetOp. Original submissions will all be considered, but it would be nice to see design for the old Robot Master GeminiMan, so that's an option too(just DON'T spam the contest with entires with GeminiMan only!)

Send all entries to exenetmail@gmail.com after February 14th, 2012 and before March 14th, 2012!!

That's all for today, good luck!

That's right! "Project Iceberg" has been revealed! What is Project Iceberg? It refers to a part of our game that will extend your playtime of Demo 4 and the full game by an extremely high amount. It will allow you to interact with the Chrono X community on another level! Ladies and gentlemen, I bring to you: a built-in Chrono X online mode!

Today is May 11th. Sorry I couldn't update here yesterday, but I was just so busy! Yesterday was May 10th, the project's anniversary. One of the gifts we gave out was some unreleased music to the public. One is an original, the other is a revision of a theme, both using our new instrument set.

http://www.mmbnchronox.com/CanYouBreathe.mp3
http://www.mmbnchronox.com/CentralTownII.mp3

Enjoy. One is Dungeon #1's theme and the other is Central Town's theme.
We planned to release another gift yesterday, but due to certain complications, it didn't happen. Stay tuned for the next gift. We expect it to come out in the next few days.

Here's to three years of Chrono X!

Hello Everyone!
I have two items that I want to share today. The first is another piece of promotional art and the other is something downloadable! As I'm sure you can guess, we got another wallpaper for you fans to sink your teeth into. This time it's...

1920 X 1080 (http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/3834/freezex1920x1080.png)
1366x768 (http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/8093/freezex1366x768.png)
1200x800 (http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/7278/freezex1200x800.png)

Yep, It's FreezeX this time. If you like it, use it as your desktop's wallpaper!
I will update this post later with more size's variations.

This second gift is something that I've been working on from soe time. Don't worry, I've still been working on Demo 4, but there were times where I couldn't. and when I couldn't I worked on this. You will all get to download and try a piece of it today! Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you... the first public test build of MegaMan Battle Network - Chrono X on the Android!

DOWNLOAD HERE: LINK (http://www.mediafire.com/?bbob2e358do3oha)

It's not as extensive as the PC demos, as it only has one battle included, but nevertheless, I still want you guys to test this and provide feedback.
The requirements to run it are Android 2.2 & up, 256mb of RAM, armv6/armv7/mips CPU + 17mb of free space.
Also, no worries. Like I wrote above, PC's 4th Demo is almost done~
Enjoy!

We gonna focus on the Android port more after PC's final release. This Android demo was relelased only as a small showcase, which main purpose to test the interest and also behaviour on bigger variety of the Android-based devices.

Hiya! It’s MaxRock here with the latest information behind our game. In order to tie things over until the demo releases (which, if real-life circumstances permit, shouldn’t be too far now), I decided to release a few screenshots showing just SOME of the improvements we’ve made. I have no doubt that the 4th demo will be superior in every way, especially since we are swapping out the placeholder graphics for newer, fresher ones! Don’t worry, doing this in particular doesn’t hold up the programming from my side, but it’s always nice to see some new things now and again, right~? Plus, the progress counter went up to 97%!
Anyway, time for some screenies!

Despite being busy with life, I managed to get a few more cut-scenes done.
This marks the latest one. Looks like Mr.Prog will give MegaMan a helpful item!

We finally managed to put in a fresh Internet Background! Like it? Just try not to feel too bad for the Mettaur >_>

That sure is a familiar sight, isn’t it?

Mayl’s got some new stuff in her room! Can you spot all the changes?

Wait... Totems!? A version 2 of two viruses!? Why so strong!?
Killer doesn’t want me to spoil it, but this is a mandatory fight. Should be fun for most of you~

Anyone remember these doors? There’s always some sort of nice prize behind one of these,
but this one is a purple mystery data. Hmm…

That's all for today. MaxRock's out!

If you've played the newest demo release, then you may or may not be aware of some bugs that came up. Well, I've been working hard these last few days trying to find and fix them all. And today, I present you the Demo 4.0.1!
Despite what has been said about the save system, this update will NOT force you to start over your save, so feel free to download and continue (just copy over your 4th demo's savefile to the CXDATA folder).  Another little bonus I added, is the "Auto Old Mode" which will automatically tone down few visual effects if your computer's graphic card can't handle them. Hopefully it will work on your old computers, so everyone who got the surface bug on the very first battle, go and download it right now!
Once again, always report any and all errors in the correct topic (Remember to give as much details as possible): LINK (http://www.mmbnchronox.com/forum/thread-32-post-33.html#pid33)

////////////DEMO 4.0.1 LINK////////////////
REMEMBER TO UNZIP BEFORE RUNNING: LINK (http://www.mmbnchronox.com/play.php)
////////////////////////////////////////////////
Just one final request: Help us spread the word! We sure could use the support.

-That's all for today, MaxRock's out~

How am I supposed to patch it properly when I used the Installer?

Just copy files from the ZIP archive's folder to the folder you installed the game to, or just unzip it anywhere, and copy the old save file (which can be found in CXDATA folder which is located in directory you installed the game in) to this version's CXDATA folder.

Looks like Demo 4 is on full swing. While I might miss out on the rest of the dev project, I wish this project well.

Hiya all~ Well, guys, we just recently released new website's design, and now it's time for a bit of an after-birthday present. This one will present a new page in Chrono X's story...

Art by Nico. Original Sketch by Midnite.

Ta-da! Here it is, our last and final gift that we wanted to release. What you see here is our promotional artwork for our game's 3rd Chapter! This is where the serious events in the story start happening and as such, it's one of our favorites!

Chapter 3 is filled with many cool and tense moments that I'm sure you'll get to enjoy when we show it off. Expect more exciting screenshots of new locations, viruses and characters! Can you guess who all the characters in this picture are? Bet you can't!

MegaMan will be fighting many, many enemies in this chapter... And I know we all want to see how he pulls through. That's all! MaxRock, out!

Hiya! MaxRock here with another update~ I know you guys have all been aching to hear about how the Online Mode is progressing, so I'm here to deliver. But first, we need to do a bit of housekeeping.

1. First, I want to welcome our new team member, Mick Galbani. We even drew a nice, colored staff mugshot for him: LINK (http://i.imgur.com/OxNKlYG.png)

He is very  dedicated and skilled pixel artist - something we desperately need to finish this game. If you know any skilled pixel artists, remember  to send them our way!

2. It's time to give the names of the characters shown in last update's picture. In order from left to right: Raven.EXE, Mystery Character(to be announced later), PirateMan.EXE, Zeta.EXE and CommandoMan.EXE.  Someone manged to name them all, even the mystery character. Who  named them? I won't tell, huehue.

3. Now for the main part of today's update - video showing Online Netbattle between Killer and me, as well as  some of the menus (remember that all this is still in a WIP stage!!). This is just showing the progress I made with implementing the Online Mode (as well as reducing the amount of lag you may occur as much as possible). There's also a hidden option in one of the menus, can you guys guess what it is?;)

http://www.youtube.com/v/6XgEFNxB3lk

Are you guys excited? I sure am (even that Killer owned me in both  battles, hahahaha). Now I'll go back to programming. See ya~

P.S. To prevent some further questions - The multiplayer does NOT need Hamachi, nor any other VPN program.

Always excited... although Zeta's resemblance to MegaMan is quite striking...

Surely there's a story-based reason behind that.

That's really awesome!

Net play is by far not an easy feat. You should be VERY proud of this!

That's really impressive!  :O

I don't think I've ever seen a fan game with online support!

In the future, do you think that you can remove all swears from the game? The originals never had a swear in them.

Actually, the only "swear" word in Demo 4 was "hell". Besides, that's not entirely correct, given that Battle Network 2 had language like that littered all over the place. The infamous "Suck yo momma's milk" line in Battle Network 2 and "Damn it all to hell!" There're many more, but you get the point.

When this thing goes online, there's gonna be worse swear words than that one.

Nevertheless, can you please get rid of it?

Why should they get rid of somebody saying "hell" once, especially when BN2 was open to using it?

Its almost as if you're projecting your wants onto them.

Anyway, online huh? That's a pretty cool accomplishment. Nice work.

Yeah don't think they're gonna do it just because one person asked them to.

Also in the anime Netto is known for swearing. Not profusely, but he is known for saying the equivalent to [parasitic bomb] from time to time when things don't go right. Which is often.

So yeah, though I'm not really in a position to say they will listen or won't, odds are the swears stay in. If this is meant to be a true sequel, a true follow-up to EXE6, then it would follow the spirit of the original games.

And in retaining that spirit, there would be some "swear words". Minor ones, to be sure, but they'd be there nonetheless.

If you reffer to the player names in Online Mode, I implemented word filter.

In the future, do you think that you can remove all swears from the game? The originals never had a swear in them.

When it goes to in-game cursing, remember that original BN games had it too... And we plan to stay as close to them as possible.

Let me quote few from BN2:
- "Damn it all to hell!"
- "Suck yo momma's milk"
- "You mean that ice $@&#!? That guy was never up to any good!" (Undernet Board)

Kids today are easily exposed to a lot worse cursing, plus I believe most of the BN fans are in their adulthood now, so they care less too.

I wasn't talking about the names, I was talking about the swears that accompany most peer to peer conversation in any MMO, which sounds like what this is turning into.

Hey guys! I bet you're wondering: "Why were there no updates!? >:{ " Haha, well, I'll be straight with you. I had plans for a few updates, but things got held back. We want to add a cool new addition to online mode to increase its longevity. Not only that, but also Midnite and Mick are in the middle of remaking a few graphical assets that we felt needed to be improved. Expect to have something "old" get a much needed reworking!

But listen! I have more to tell you! We have some screenshots to show you and something nice to look forward to in the upcoming week!

And this right here sets the tone for the rest of the story. It looks like meeting Ms. Madd in the second chapter has its own set of consequences. *gulp*/

Doesn't that person look familiar? He should! Make sure to observe the new mugshot for Lan Hikari! Do you think that one is better than the one in Demo 4?/

Oh DAMN! That's a lot of viruses! And it appears our old friend from the first chapter is back.

If you played Battle Network 2 or 3, then this guy should ring a bell! That's right, we're bringing this old school virus back! Take a ride with me on the nostalgia train!

*whistles innocently*

Things to Note: Chrono X will be participating in this year's NCFC. That's Nintendo Community Fangame Convention for the uninformed. It's basically a conference where numerous developers show off their fan/indie games! This will be our second time coming back. I'll be giving you a link to our booth when it's ready, so when it's up, be sure to give us a vote. A friendly vote goes towards faster updates and the like!

It's come to our attention that a weird bug happens on certain computers that have Chrono X on them. Once you beat Raven, if you choose to save before you get MegaMan back, your game will freeze and you will be unable to save. An easy workaround is to wait until you get MegaMan back, THEN save. We currently have fixed this issue, so any of you users that haven't come across this bug, or have yet to play Demo 4, please keep that in mind. Demo 4.1 will be free of this bug entirely.

It's also a FANTASTIC idea to copy your savefile, and store it somewhere else. Go to CXDATA and copy your MMBNCX.sav and OLDSAV.back files to another folder/pendrive/wherever. If not to protect yourself against any bugs, but also in case something happens to your computer.

Hello, boys and girls! Despite the lack of updates about Chrono X in this topic, I can assure you the project is still going on strong.

I am cordially inviting you and any Mega Man fan you know to attend our project's fifth anniversary celebration stream. On it, we plan to reveal many, many new things about Chrono X.

New things that will be revealed:
-New bosses
-New Me.M.E.N.T.O. form
-RequestBBS contest winners
*This is the minimum amount that will be revealed

Date: May 16, 2014
Time:
Starts: 4:00PM EST (1600 hours GMT-5)
Ends: 6:30PM EST (1930 hours GMT-5)

Note: Times may not be exact

That's right, we'll be on twitch for this event! If you need help converting our timezone into yours, please use this: Convert! (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html)

If you go to the link around the time we put down, you should expect to see us talking to you guys live! This is our project's fifth birthday and many, many things will be revealed so we hope you guys can make it!

List of Events:
1.Presentation segment (15-20 minutes) [Check this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EadxwhMBhfo) for an idea on how it will be shown.]
2.Fan art showcase (5 minutes) [Read below]
3.Live Question and Answer (120 minutes)

Yes, right after we showcase the submissions and do the presentations, you can ask us questions about the game and our future development plans! Since our fifth anniversary is a pretty big deal, you can expect us to be more open about revealing game content. Always wanted to know what some of the upcoming bosses are? Maybe asking us at the event would be the time to ask! While we do plan to be more forthcoming with our answers, there are certain things we will keep a secret no matter what, so please ask the right questions  :)

Fanart Segment

Remember to keep sending in those fanarts! ANYONE who submits a piece of fanart will get it shown on the stream with some nice commentary by us. That should be it. Check the end of this paragraph if you still plan to submit your fanart and lost/forgot the details to do so. Those of you who did or don't plan to submit any can stop reading here. Here are the details for those who missed:

(Send to CXdevteam@gmail.com)
Subject: Birthday Stream Art Submission

Message: Give an overall idea of your piece and what you were going for. And maybe why you chose to represent that particular part of Chrono X.

Attach your art with the title and your name.

E.g., QuickFormParodyByKiller336

What can you pick?

You may pick anything and everything to do with Chrono X. The catch is, it must have been officially revealed by us, whether it be from the demos, updates we posted, Me.M.E.N.T.O. forms, or even the staff!

Your freedom extends that far. You can perform many takes on this. If you want to parody a scene from the demo (maybe do something with Lan smashing the speakers with a giant hammer), or even take characters and invent little scenarios! For example, what if Raven and RiffMan had a conversation on who looked cooler? Or maybe MegaMan decides to show off his new powers to GutsMan? It's up to you!

Type of Art: You can pretty much do this with whatever type of art is comfortable with you. The quality of the art isn't important, it's the fact that you want to make it.  smile

Make a comic, picture, sprite, or whatever you want. Really, go nuts!

What you can do to help:

And now, I have a little favor to ask of all of you. We want this event to have a relatively satisfying turnout, but we need your help to make that happen! Spread word about this on your social networks as May 16th draws closer. Post on YouTube, your own websites, forums, or whatever you got!  The more people we get, the more likely we are to reveal certain content. Just keep that in mind as an incentive. Let's work together on this!

You can confirm your attendance by commenting below or by joining the appropriate Facebook event group Confirm! (https://www.facebook.com/events/570884389675614/?ref=22). This is not necessary, but it lets us know about how many people we can guarantee to be there! You can of course reply to this topic instead.

That should be it! I hope to celebrate this milestone with you guys. Take care.

Hiya~~
How did you guys like the presentation? Did you find it entertaining? If so, you're in luck, because we uploaded it to our YouTube channel so you can see it all again. For those of you who couldn't make it, this is an excellent opportunity to catch up on all of the content we revealed.

The fanart segements and the Q&A should come within the next few days, so there's that to look forward to as well. We're all very happy that so many of you who watched it have given us positive feedback.
