This is a little late, but why couldn't Siggy just hop into one of the reploids that was shaped like him?

X / How is X the first robot to "think and feel"?
« on: January 26, 2010, 06:16:32 AM »
Most of the following is cribbed from this guy: http://www.mmhp.net/Commentaries/Musing58.html

To quote him:

Quote from: Whatsisname
In Mega Man X, Dr. Light wrote on X’s capsule that X was the first robot able to think, feel, and make his own decisions. If the Robot Masters in Mega Man’s time could do this already, why would Dr. Light imply on X’s capsule that X was a new and different thing?

Maybe, people will say, X was already built and sealed away by this point in time. Maybe he was even the prototype that Dr. Light used when building the Mega Man 9 Robot Masters. This explanation doesn’t work, however, because why then wouldn’t Dr. Light have sealed away the Robot Masters as well?

The fact of the matter is, Dr. Light was afraid of X. That’s why he put him in the capsule in the first place. He feared X would take his new freedom and decide to do something disastrous. So Dr. Light sealed him away until his loyalty could be confirmed—which he knew would not occur during his lifetime. So this rules out the Robot Masters being able to be confirmed when X couldn’t—and if they could, why wouldn’t Dr. Light release X at that time as well?

While this overlooks the possibility of X being built after the MM9 fiasco, he does raise a good point.  What exactly makes X so special besides that Suffering Circuit?

Oh please.

It's ALWAYS Albert.

Even that one time he wasn't the final boss, it was still him behind everything.

If Wily isn't behind all this then I'm Ridley.

I dunno, Flame, who's the shield guy this time?

Anywho, Blade man reminds me of Gigan.

Sheep Man looks hilariously awesome.

Pump Man...nah, not going there.  (Hint: Hard Man)

Commando Man looks like the lovechild of Napalm Man and Search Man.

Solar Man is an awesome concept, but didn't we have something similar with a certain Egyptian?

Strike Man is downright cool.  Finally, a robot with the stones to hit a human.

Chill Man looks familiar....and no, not because of Tornado Man.  I'm not sure where I saw his face...

Freeze Man, all the way.

And just use an extra one from a spinoff.

I would if I had any clue how to do so.

And the special move tricks have never been mentioned on any of the walkthroughs or FAQs that I've seen as of this writing.

Original / Power Fighters Special Attacks.

The specials are as follows:

Charge your buster to the second level. (Yellow)

Now, while holding that, hold up on the analog stick. Your character will do their special move.

Mega Man: Three hit Shoryuken.

Proto Man:Short-range, three hit plasma flamethrower. (Use against Shade Man when he does his Noise Crush for an interesting result)

Bass: A flip kick. Three hits, but has a tendency to push Bass into whoever he's using it on.

Duo:An uppercut. Press Jump to jump, then hit Attack to have him attack again.

Now, in the "Find Wily" section, the attacks all change.   Duo gets an extra punch before his uppercut, Protoman's flamethrower lasts longer and Bass gets another flip kick.  Mega Man, however, stays the same, but supposedly gets a new move.

Anyone ever see it?

EDIT:This is for the Anniversary Collection for the Gamecube.  As far as I know it works the same on the other versions, but I've never played those.

You didn't provide any evidence apart from "he has similarities to Shadow" and "he's angry all the time".

I used those as examples of the most common complaints against his character.

You're still around asking stupid questions, I see.

« on: January 09, 2010, 05:00:49 PM »
Bass was introduced as a rival and foil to Mega Man.  Basically, his evil counterpart.

However, we already had two or three versions of this.  The Mega Man copy, Proto Man, and Quint all followed the same plot in their initial appearances.

The main difference with Bass was that he was actually his own character.  Now a lot of people label him an "emo" angst-bucket in the style of Shadow the Hedgehog...never mind that Bass predates the latter by about a decade.  And then there's the fact that Bass expresses no emotions besides pride and anger...

Thoughts on this?

X / Sigma Virus question
« on: December 16, 2009, 04:52:19 AM »
I'm confused about something.

Sigma, in X3, says that he's going to infect X and use his body to take over the world, etc.

Now, someone, I don't know who, said that X was immune to the virus's effects due to technically not being a Reploid.   This was never stated in the games, though.

.....Am I missing something here?

Well, point stands in the absence of that.  Common sense isn't all that common.  >.>

Now what's that supposed to mean...?

ZX / Re: How was Albert going to "reset the world"?

Bifrost: My name is Bifrost... Guardian of the sleeping soldiers. When the new world is born, they shall awaken and exterminate the old-world inhabitants.

But Albert's tone and language said he was going to "reset" the world.  Not wipe it out, not destroy it, "RESET" it.

He sounded almost like the world was a computer or a video game, to be turned on and off at will

Ouroboros was basically a giant floating metallic ship....that does absolutely nothing besides spawn Mavericks.

Short of repeating Weil's Ragnarok/ Sigma's Eurasia gambit, I don't see how it by itself was so dangerous.  How was Albert going to do anything with it?

ZX / Re: Who exactly created the Biometals?
« on: November 06, 2009, 08:45:29 PM »
I don't see what there is to be confused about.

Model W - Albert
Model A - Albert
Model X - Ciel
Model Z - Ciel
Model H - Ciel
Model L - Ciel
Model F - Ciel
Model P - Ciel
Model O - Unknown; canonically questionable
Model a - Unknown; canonically questionable; actual fragment may not exist as it is an A-Trans form

Albert did not create anything from Serpent's core, he is the one who originally created Model W using what was left of Ragnarok.  In other words, Albert is the original creator of Biometal, and of the R.O.C.K. System, which Model W uses the same as the other models.  And he made Serpent's core the same as he made all the other cores.

The R.O.C.K. System works only with the Chosen Ones: those people which Albert has marked using his DNA.  Ciel created her Biometals in order to counter Model W using her research on it, but she did not understand Model W fully, and thus that same restriction from Model W was carried over into her own Biometals.  Those who can use Ciel's Biometal are the same as those who can use Model W: Chosen Ones selected by Albert (with the exception of Ashe).

Yes, but if Albert created the original R.O.C.K system, how did Ciel figure out how to make the other 6 biometals?  Also, how could he mark those chosen ones if he didn't know the other biometals existed at the time?

ZX / Who exactly created the Biometals?
« on: October 29, 2009, 01:27:45 AM »
In ZX, Ciel is shown to have created the original biometals and ROCK/MEGA system to combat Model W/V which was made from Ragnarok.  ZXA implies that Albert created them, and built hundreds of Model W's based off the core fragment Serpent merged with in the previous game.  Then it says that he encoded them with his own data so that only certain people could unlock and merge with them.

What am I missing here?  I'm confused...

Rockman Series / Re: Out of all the villains...
« on: September 30, 2009, 07:59:03 PM »
Crap...I probably should have been more clear.

This thread isn't for the villains you liked.  This is for the villain who does something over the course of the plot (Plot, not gameplay) that was so evil you wanted that bastard DEAD.

Basically, a complete monster.

See here: (Taken from Tvtropes)

"This is it. The end of the line for evil.... Simply, there is nothing worse than being this. Trying to put a value to how horrible the qualifications to be a Complete Monster are is like trying to assign Bill Gates a credit score: it becomes a moot point. This is not the villain who is designed to be comic, or tragic, or even so awesome you can't help but root for him. This is the villain who is so repulsive and completely irredeemable, that the only satisfying end for him is a death just as horrible as he is... or hopefully worse.

The character must do truly horrendous acts, and the story makes no attempt to gloss these over or present them in a positive light... He must also have a direct, active role, and the Evil Overlord doesn't count if he only sends out waves of minions to do horrible atrocities - he must perform these himself or force someone else to do it while he looks on. It's the character that's supposed to scare and disgust you, not his minions..."

That's what I meant.

Oh, here's a tip:

If you like the villain, don't vote for him.  This is for the villain whose death sequence felt incredibly satisfying to watch.

I can't help but notice that someone mentioned that they were created from his direct DNA data.  Does that make him their father?  After all, we don't know who built them, and they seem fiercely loyal to him (Well, his clone, but they don't know that).

Thoughts?
