I could see the proceeds from a memorial amiibo going towards researching and combating the illness that Mr. Iwata succumbed to. Even if Nintendo doesn't go down that route, though, I would welcome a Zelda cameo (and/or a Smash trophy in the next update).

Amazon's getting exclusive amiibo now? Huh...good thing I already own mine, then (she arrived yesterday).

I'm still in shock. Christ Almighty.

Rest in peace, sir.

That's true.

You know, if Sora does get in, would Disney and/or Squeenix make sure that his amiibo is easy to obtain? (And I hope that, PS4 aside, Sora would have his KH3 duds because dat plaid, man)

EDIT: Been thinking; if non-Nintendo debut consoles aren't an issue, then one of my ideal "fanservice characters" would be Lara Croft.

She's a pretty notable gaming icon (especially where the jump from 2D to 3D is concerned, I think), is already highly physically-active and so has a lot of potential moves, and has a boatload of workable alt outfits. On a personal note, Tomb Raider was one of the first major VG series I was aware of (the other being Sonic).

Haven't got anything to add to the Sora discussion (aside from "I find it unlikely, given that the series began on the PS2, but on the off-chance that he makes it in, I'd download him on day 1"), but: I'll be getting Palutena's amiibo soon! Likely another JP version; seems that half of my current collection ended up being imports.

edit: huh, Wave 5's US release got pushed back. I seem to remember it being the 9th?

In regards to Shantae, Shovel Knight, and Banjo, their owners are all open to the idea of them getting in Smash, so at least there's that. Still hoping for Snake (maybe wait for some ballot winners to be announced first, then roll out him and Wolf).

As for Golden Sun--if "another anime swordsman" isn't a viable option, I'd try going with Mia; with Ice Climbers and Squirtle gone, I don't think anyone else primarily uses ice/water (aside from Lucas and his PK Freeze).

Maybe all of the Persona-ness is a mere smokescreen to get everyone's guards down, and then they unleash the SMT?

That's what I'm hoping; didn't see the initial teaser, but I don't like that kind of bait-and-switch any more than the next guy.

My Little Mac amiibo has arrived. With that, I now own all of Wave 2.

And it looks like I'll have to try the Shoryuken input sometime.

Hopefully it's only a hiatus. Still a major bummer, though.

Wasn't expecting Mr. Game and Watch's amiibo to work like that; I guess it's to make up for his super-flatness?

Guess whose Pit amiibo finally arrived?

In non-personal news, there will likely be more restocks in the future. PlayAsia is also setting a $30 USD price cap on amiibo and working to improve on other relevant issues.

Wave 5 is out in Japan; Amazon has some imports, though apparently they're expensive (haven't seen for myself yet). Gonna wait a bit to see if prices go down.

No reason why SEGA (and Sanzaru Games) can't recover from a dubious start for the Boom games. That's one thing they've got over Capcom.

Well, I'm looking forward to F&I. :U Helps that I like the show and SC (still no system to play RoL on, but slower-paced combat/exploration-oriented gameplay appeals to me).

91
Yeah, re-releases are standard, but games-wise, Capcom's barely done anything of note for MM. It's hard to get excited about yet another compilation that, right now, feels like a slightly gimped MMAC.

92
siiiiiiiiiiiiiigghhhh

I swear, this better be a stopgap for a proper new entry, and not just Capcom refusing to put effort towards anything not SF or RE.

Eheh. XD; Well, she really did want her own Marth.

Now all I need is Villager, and I'll have the entire first wave.

At long last, Marth shall be mine. As will Meta Knight, assuming that all goes well.

One of my little sisters also got Marth, and my other sister got Pit; no luck on Lucina or Robin, sadly, but snagging Marth for less than $40 sorta made up for it.

eBay prices for rarer amiibo tend to hover in the $30+ range, IIRC. I recommend going there only as an absolute last resort; even importing would be a better idea.

To paraphrase one of my own posts made elsewhere, an idea I hope that Nintendo considers in the future: making amiibo for dropped Melee/Brawl fighters that simply give you bonus content upon scanning. And convince Konami to let them make a Snake amiibo so that there won't be a conspicuous hole in that wave.

*sees that the News board has suddenly been updated* whoa whoa WHOA

Sweet! Can't wait to see how this turns out.

It's still gotta be better than trying to find reasonable prices on eBay.

I had Captain Falcon ordered a few days ago and he arrived yesterday, along with Ness (who wasn't estimated to get here until the 8th at the earliest--guess we live fairly close to the GameStop warehouse). Also picked up Fox from the USPS office.

The state of my amiibo collection, counting ones I'm waiting on and not counting non-Smash: almost all of Wave 1 except Marth and Villager, all of Wave 2 but Little Mac, half of Waves 3 and 4. Now if only most of the ones I'm missing weren't so expensive.

There's always hope for a proper restock come FE if's release...I hope.

Speaking of restocks, most of Wave 4 in general seems to have evaporated, with only a few Pac-Men here and there. I didn't get Wario on Friday for fear of over-spending; I hope he doesn't end up as rare as Lucina and Robin.

I got Greninja, Charizard, Pac-Man, and an Inkling girl. Greninja was especially fortuitous as he was the literal last one at our location.

One clerk at one of our local GameStops said that Nintendo and GS had some sort of falling-out years ago, hence amiibo troubles.

Zero Charizard...guess I better grab one at Toys 'R Us tomorrow, if possible.

In other news, one of my Yes Asia orders shipped (Pit, presumably). No idea when it'll get here.
