Maybe Vista doesn't like it. Works fine on XP and 7. Hmm. This begs for experimentation

That's really weird. What kind of computer are you using, and what's the OS?

Have you tried Beta v3.00 yet?

That sounds more like a computer issue than a program issue. Have you tried every version?

This will be my last post until there's further activity on this thread or I've completed my project.

I found a program that will make it so that image edits of the newer releases for 8FC are possible
http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

Resource Hacker allows you to open an exe file and look at pretty much everything in it via a very easy to use GUI. On top of that, it allows you to export certain resources. I was able to open up the latest release of Rockman 8 FC and export the image resources as bmp files. You can name it whatever you want when you export the file, just make sure you don't save as a Resource file, but as a bmp file. You can edit this in MSpaint classic or gimp or Photoshop, whichever program you prefer that will work within the color pallets/tables. I always recommend Photoshop because you can change the color pallets/tables if you want. Finally, save the file over, then go back into Resource Hacker, right click on the original file, and hit replace.

Things to note: They've changed the character sprites so they only have one direction face in the sprite sheets, which means half the work. But that also means walking back and forth is just an image flip, so no asymmetrical characters here. Another thing to note, they have changed background colors on some of the sprite sheets, so be aware of that if you're just going to copy and paste over from older sheets. Finally, in some image files, you'll notice there's a sort of greying out styling that repeats down the image. You can use FC Image Creator to replicate this, which can be found in Beta 2.89 and earlier.

Resource Hacker also lets you file icons, but I've had mixed results with this. Then again, I am running Windows 7, which may treat icons differently from XP. I'll put the files on an XP computer and see if this changes anything.

Man, what happened to everyone from this thread?

In other news, for those looking to edit sprites in 8FC, yes the sprite sheets have limited color palettes, but if you have photoshop, you can modify the palettes if you go to Image>>Mode you should see it at the bottom of the menu. There you can change the colors, add colors, and even save the palette which can be loaded into your swatches for easy color picking

It is in fact a different group doing 8 from the group who did 7. On top of that, I think it was actually several different groups doing 8 in different ways before one way was finally settled upon. I'm doing custom sprites for beta 2.91 as it seems to be fairly complete from what I can tell.

So, they're up to beta 2.97 now which is an almost finished version. Sadly they stopped using the image folder setup after 2.91, which means no custom spriting for current versions  :|

Oh well. Here's hoping maybe they'll change their minds about it, so we can muck around with it. I want to make a sequel to Kamen Rider Decade - Rockman no Sekai.

Original / Re: Bass Hair Color is...?

For some reason I imagine Bass as a redhead. Mega Man has black hair, Proto Man has brown or silver hair (EXE's fault), and Zero is blonde. So that leaves redhead.

They weren't in the first place.

Funny, I could've sworn the FC stood for FamiCom, thus completely making it the point of having it be like a FamiCom/NES game.

I did but it didnt give me the original pics and game
That doesn't make any sense. Just delete the old files and redownload the original full game.

Anyone have a clue as to what's left for Rockman 8 FC? I have Demo 2.61 I think, which I believe is the latest one, and it has so far seemed fairly complete.

I know where to find their page and their sprites. That's not the problem. Those of us in the game mod community are wanting to mod the game, alter game graphics to different characters, music, sound effects, etc. Just check out the Mod My Rockman thread in the Fan Creations subforum, you'll see what I mean

I understand the hard work they put into it, but I feel that making the game customizable is part of the fun. And so far I have yet to see anyone try and actually take credit for making RM7FC. We just have fun turning it into something different.

Well, if it is a bin file you could try mount it as a cd.
If not, then you need a extract and pack tool . Unless they have a special program for creating it.
Or you can email the creator's and tell them to have the image / sound in folders rather then  a bin.
Yeah, mounting it was my first attempt to open it. Extracting it doesn't work, it says "Invalid or unknown image file format!"

As for emailing the creators, is that actually possible? Or are you pulling my leg?

So with the latest betas they've been throwing out, they have all the image and sound effect data in a BIN file, at least that's what I figure. The standard "create a CUE file" method to open it doesn't work, so as of now I've been unable to see if the graphics can be altered in the way that 7FC's could. Anybody figure out how to open the BIN file?

About the Zero mod, is the Slashman boss gonna be like a fake Zero that stole his Z-sabre or something? Just curious.

I remember now! The website was called Zero X Gold or ZeroXGold, something like that. It's been long dead, and sprites from it are almost impossible to find. They were really fantastic edits too.

Nice work with Zero so far. What are you going to do about the Super Adapter? I remember years ago there was a website called Gold Zero or Gold Armor Zero, that had these epic pics and sprites with Zero in some fancy gold armor that looked fantastic. I wonder if anyone remembers what it looked like?

I only say this because to this day Zero still has never had his own armor upgrade.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. Again, credit goes to The ToNg0 for starting this project with his original sprite edits of Rockman and the 8 Robot Masters plus Blues, and for leaving it at that so I can tinker with it some more :3

Blaze: I do already have plans to edit 8FC when it comes out. It'll be a bit of a challenge because I understand it's a different group doing it which means the sprite sheets will be a different format, but hopefully with some sprites already established it'll go a little quicker. The plan is to turn 8FC Robot Masters into the Showa Riders. There's also plans for Rockman & Forte if they do that as well.

The music is basically uncompressed WAV format, as that's the only way to put in the songs. Each of the initial 8 stages, the music is representative of the show that the boss Rider is from, with the majority of the songs being the Decade remixes aside from two or three of them.

I thought about including Diend's actual theme, Treasure Sniper, as the song when you fight him (Forte), but decided I would save it for if they do a Rockman & Forte version. But now I'm thinking maybe I'll replace Rockman & Forte with W and Skull from Kamen Rider W instead. We'll see.

Download and unzip the folder to your Rockman Decade game file, replacing the image folder that is already there. If you haven't downloaded the updates I've made before, here are the options.
