Just gonna make a topic for this.

Who on here plays?

Classic? Beta?

I had a classic server, but ever since servers broke, (consoles return no external URL, making the server impossible to connect to) I havent been able to use it.

I bought Beta a small while back though, and been playing that for a while.

Although even though making a mark for yourself in single player is neat, it CAN get tedious and or boring sometimes. Even with an inventory editor.

So, what do you do? You download adventure maps to play through.

A few good ones for ex:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1034&t=244194
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1034&t=217815
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=161450

Those last two are especially epic.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Bought my Premium after christmas, so Beta.
Found Diamond the other day, been mining Obsidian ever since.

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Bought Alpha (Which upgraded to Beta).

I keep my texture pack on "Cave Story" and my personal skin is Stocking.

I made a castle. and I plan to make another one too.

So...I get the fact that You have to make a shelter to stay away from the monsters, but you explore and stuff I guess?

I use the Wayukian texture pack, and Use a Flame skin.

Though sometimes I alternate between armored Flame, and dressed up Flame.
'pends on my mood.

Sadly actually, MC tends to lag a bit on my Laptop, since I *THINK* there were memory issues with java. Dunno if they are still there, but it feels like it.

Which really hampers my experience with really large maps like Criswelvania. (215 MB!!)

Word of mouth makes this game seem pretty fun. Not so sure, though.

Yeah I'm still kind of unsure myself.
The Classic game version didn't really appeal to me.

You gather resources, to make better  items and tools, to gather better resources, to make better structures.

Hiding from monsters is optional. you can very well get yourself some armor, weapons, food and go monster hunting. In fact, it's encouraged. some stuff you can only get by killing monsters. (Gunpowder to make TNT, string to make bows )

Its just a sandbox game. There is no real point to it other than indulging in a Lego like game and building bigger and badder stuff.

Classic can be pretty fun in itself. But it *IS* limited in what you can do. VERY limited. watch some videos on Beta. You can do much more, and there is MUCH more interactivity and "point" in it.

Yeah, Beta seems to be where it's at. I've heard so much from people about the joy of "creepers".

classic is [parasitic bomb] in comparison really

and what with minecraft being in a pretty much eternal state of updating beta is worth the money, i'd say

beta has gotten so huge, you wouldn't even believe it

Minecraft is awesome. Here is a video of me running around in Minecraft Beta doing what you're not meant to be doing in Beta.
(That's not my account)

But Beta has wool now. I'm not interested in building anymore.

Well, I've seen some people sink a massive amount of time to this game. I can see the appeal, but I'm already building so much crap in other ways that I don't really need one more.

Minecraft has ALWAYS had wool- its the COLOR spectrum that varied.

I'm not the type to get lost in hours of building something awesome and then showing everyone online, but I will give it credit for being the scariest [tornado fang]ing game I ever played. I can deal with monsters easily enough, but the terror when they jump at me out of nowhere never seems to go away - at this point I'm afraid of the fear itself, rather than the monsters...

Then theres the spiders in dark caves. You hear them. with their slurpy sound. and all you see is red eyes glowing in the dark.

>_o Uh...yeah that. Coloured wool makes pixel art too easy > 3>

No more mining Obsidian, no more need for lava sculptures =(

Also, the monsters all have warning sounds. Skeletons clack when they start shooting at you, creepers hiss before they explode, zombies growl, spiders slurp. I hate creepers the most because you get the least amount of 'I've snuck up behind you and now you're doomed' warning time.
And them destroying my work >_>

all because they have sounds doesnt make them any less tyhreatening though. you wont always be able to see them.

Thats a bad idea with skeletons unless you have a diamond sword.

That tends to be the scary part, yeah...

And they almost always appear behind you.

Creepers can get scary themselves. your inside a house, you turn around, and.. "OMGHOLYSHIT" *creeper staring through window*
